  1. Try clicking finish. Then allow Revo to search your computer for registry keys and left over files. Make sure you only remove items which you are sure belong to that software. See how that goes. If that fails re-install the Nik plugins the same version. That with restore the installer. Then retry uninstalling it.
  2. Thanks re the uninstaller (yes the box is ticked re the unknown plugins). That tip re Revo is just what I need thank you.
  3. Make sure you tick the box Allow "Unknown" plugins to be used. G'MIC had disappeared on me until I found the setting I needed to tick. You'll need to restart the application to get it to work fully. Try using an uninstaller like Revo to remove the Nik Software.
  4. Is there any way to know how high this issue is on the development team's list of priorities? For me this is easily among my top 2 issues that make me want to switch back to Photoshop, but for the development team it seems to be a fairly low priority, because I've found posts on this forum from 4 years ago that describe this exact issue and yet it has still not been fixed.
  5. G'Mic is working for me. Please show us the Photoshop Plugins section of your Photo Settings. Also, please tell us which version you downloaded from the G'Mic downloads site (file name you downloaded).
  6. Hi, I installed it correctly - firstly from a separate folder and then removed it from there and put it in the defaults plug in folder but when I click on 'Plugins' in the drop down menu, it isn't there. Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions as to what to do. Also I installed Nik 7 trial with my Affinity 1 then installed a trial of affinity 2 (I've bought it now) and then uninstalled affinity 1 and the trial Affinity, then tried to uninstall Nik 7 so that I could reinstall it to associate with paid for version of Affinity 2 - and it won't uninstall..... So if anyone has any experience of sorting that out.... that would be helpful too! Many thanks, Carol
  7. I don’t know what the Camera Raw Filter does in Photoshop so I don’t know if there is an equivalent in Photo, but someone else probably does. What you may need to do will be very dependent upon what you mean by “make it look vintage”. That can mean lots of different things to different people. If you can define what you mean by “vintage”, preferably giving some time-codes from the video where a similar effect has been created (both before and after to show the difference), then someone may be able to help but, as your requirements stand, they’re probably too vague for anyone to be able to give you precise instructions at the moment. (Ask a vague question, get vague answers.)
  8. As mentioned in the thread linked to above, this happened because of something that Skylum did to the plug-in which caused it to be non-compatible with Photo. Serif can’t make Photo 100% compatible with all Photoshop plug-ins because some plug-ins use certain things in Photoshop which simply aren’t available in Photo. Also, it wouldn’t be right to expect Serif to make sure that their software was always 100% compatible with future changes to software that they have no control over. In other words, Serif can’t tell plug-in makers what to do with their plug-ins and they can’t force plug-in makers to make their software compatible with Photo. If you want the plug-in to be compatible with Affinity again then the best people to talk to would be at Skylum.
  9. I understand that Neo has changed the interface. But still it is an interface that is present. So why is an adaptation on the Affinity-Side not possible? If the Adobe-Software can handle it and Affinity uses Adobe-Plugins, then why is it not possible to simply adapt the interface on the affinity side to the newer interface-version? Best regards M
  10. I want to be able to resize this panel because I want to see the colours better when I slide the values around. Also, we need a reset button for the colour swatches so they return to black & white. While I appreciate that there are shortcuts for this and more, I still think it would be a good UX change to have the reset button available. It took me ages to figure out how to get the default colours back to normal when I started using Affinity because of this. We also need to be able to drag and drop images, layers, assets, and gradients into the colour swatches. Here is a demonstration of the power that exists in Affinity that is inaccessible to most people. Not only can you make swatches out of any Asset, but you can also convert them into swatches that can be saved! However, because of the limitations you must convert your layer into an Asset, then add it to a vector object in the Fill socket at the top of the screen. This could be simplified a ton by just allowing you to drag and drop anything from the Layers panel, the canvas, the Assets panel, or from the Swatches panel into the swatch slots in the Colour panel. It would make the Colour panel in Affinity super powerful compared to other software which can't do this. Finally, I would like to see an improved UI which shows what type of colour theory you are following with markers on the colour wheel. Coolorus for Photoshop is a stellar example of how to do this right.
  11. So, I have uploaded some files for you to see the issue hopefully. There are 3 sets of files. Each set has a screenshot of the date/time metadata for the appropriate image file. 1) Before AP edit - no editing done by AP. You can see there are no IPTC tags or photomech. All data is correct. 2) After AP edit white balance only. Here, I just did a quick 'white balance' edit in AP. You can then see the IPTC tags appear in the metdata. (DateCreated and TimeCreated.) 3) After AP edit keywords. This was taking image from 2) and adding in a keyword. Now, you can see that a photomech tag has been created, the IPTC:TimeCreated has gone (and this is causing one of the issues), and the previously correct photoshop tag has now been split into photomech with the TimeCreated and photoshop with the DateCreated. So, I think there are 2 issues for AP. firstly, why does it create IPTC tags after an edit, and secondly, the way it handles the newly created IPTC by splitting it up and creating an incorrect photomech tag.
  12. No, I don't believe we will ever support other type of plugins as all of them rely on Photoshop APIs and due to apps differences.
  13. I see. I thought the discussion had widened to include other types of plugins such as the ‘Automation’ plugins that you mentioned.
  14. No, don't expect full Photoshop API|/plugin support. I meant generic image filter improvements/support for more image plugins. Sorry for not being clear.
  15. Yes, I'm aware of this but I meant compatibility/support for a few more image plugins.
  16. Umm, sorry but if even a staff member who uses plugins only has hopes for this improvement then I even more sure it's more likely to be never than ever 😄
  17. I’d love to keep your hopes alive, but I feel I should point out that Serif PhotoPlus only ever supported ‘Effects’ plugins.
  18. Hi @stuck, Affinity Photo only supports basic image plugin filters using the selected pixel layer as input. Any plugins requiring app commands, panels, automation, whatever are not supported.
  19. Thats encouraging, but I’m skeptical to achieve Photoshop status took years, users were heavily invested. Just read the “co-founders Perkins and Obrecht have already disclosed their plan to give away much of their fortune to numerous philanthropic causes.” from Wikipedias Canva entry. Offering free use etc is a means of building your user base, once popular and heavily invested the evolution will commence. I hope I’m wrong, I remaining cautiously optimistic, but in the mean time will happily use Affinity products.
  20. Me too. In fact for my use with the possible exception of a few AI capabilities, Affinity products already offer all I need. I suggest that Affinity products will evolve, this is a gradual process over years to prevent users abandoning ship. Once the learning curve benefits, availability are established within the community the evolution will commence. This will take years, to establish itself the way Adobe has managed to do. Corel is full of pesky advertising, Microsoft Windows trying to force users into using Microsoft account to log in Windows. Microsoft put their own interests ahead of users, remember Windows 8, and always redesigning the gui, requiring constant learning. These companies seem to believe they must change the gui to justify the next version otherwise users not willing to upgrade When I think back about Windows what does it do now that it didnt do in XP. From the users perspective not much, sure security upgrades but each upgrade introduces new potential security flaws that must then be addressed, ensuring users will spend more to patch the new problem they created, in lieu of fixing old problems. Yes I know that new technologies constantly introduced bring their own can of worms that must be addressed in potentially new ways. As I have suggested before, maintain a low cost base product and allow users to select from options of additional capabilities at additional cost in lieu of adding huge amount of never to be used functionality users will never use. Huge amounts of Photoshop never learned or used. Allowing users to select functionality or packages of added functionality would tell Serif who their customers are, and what is their focus allow the company to respond to uses in lieu to adding unwanted functionality that users must reluctantly pay for. Using this model, users may discover new functionality these realize they want need and be happy to pay for it, rather than abandon the product because they were already happy with the product as it was, no need to constantly change and relearn. So again I would advicate for the Pizza company business model, a base price, and extra cost for additional functionality, mushrooms, pepperoni, olives, or a set of option .So again I would advicate for the Pizza company business model, a base price, and extra cost for additional functionality, mushrooms, pepperoni, olives, or a set of related options .eg Capricciosa.
  21. Well, there is a fine line between bug fixing and polishing of a feature. Some would argue that the Lock feature not actually locking edits on a layer to be a bug. It was at least something I reacted to when I switched over from Photoshop to Affinity Photo. Expanding the locking functionality would solve issues like that in this case.
  22. Hi, I teach design at a university in Australia and our uni has switched from Adobe to Affinity. The lack of a pattern overlay effect in Affinity Photo is limiting especially when copying templates (layers with effects on them which can be copied over to a different file) which were created for Photoshop. If Affinity could include a pattern overlay layer effect in the next software release that would be much appreciated by people studying landscape architecture. Thanks, Bonnie
  23. Hi all! I'm considering getting the Universal license for Affinity and switching from Adobe, but there is a feature missing that is holding me back. Is it possible to export multiple States for multiple Artboards/Slices at once in the Export Persona? I use this feature a lot for exporting several variations of multiple Artboards at once. In Photoshop there is something similar (although improved via external script) where you can do exactly that. So imagine you have 2 artboards/slices and 2 states, you can then automatically export Artboard1_State1, Artboard1_State2, Artboard2_State1 and Artboard2_State2 at once, and even for multiple configurations and formats. Now you have to go back out of Export Persona, change the State, change the names and export again, which can be tedious for multiple files. Ash said something similar to this in this comment. Would it be an estimated date for this feature? Thanks a lot.
  24. What would you like to see improved in particular? Should locked layers become unselectable, for instance? Being able to lock layer transparency, selection, transformation (current function + selection), brush edits, etc. Photoshop is the golden standard for this with all its locking features. Also, you still can't select multiple layers and lock/unlock them at once like you can do with the visibility toggle.
