You can set the bleed, but the function described in the help text to change it seems missing. Only margins can be corrected. As a workaround I would probably open a new document with an adapted bleed, and copy everything there. Not ideal, a measure of last resort.

Well, basically it is about vector graphics and pixel graphics. Vector are the curves you draw on top of the Google earth picture (which itself is pixel graphic). A vector is described by a mathematical formula - which means you can enlarge, distort or twist it my way, without it getting broken up in many little pixels (dots). The „engine“ will work on the mathematical curve, always displaying it in top quality. If you tilt your drawing to give it an onlooking perspective (like from birds view), it will retain its quality when it is vector based. All the fills and design elements overlaying the curves are now pixel objects. They can be applied by brushes (like painting in the lakes, greens and the rough), or places as objects, like the trees. Pixel objects have richer detail, but don’t tolerate distortion as easily. Working on Pixel objects, they may degrade in quality with every processing step. You can mix vector and pixel objects by stacking layers, the top layers clouding the view on the layers below. Through blending modes you can define how the layers interact. For details and examples, you will find a lot of stuff in YT.

Bleed settings are in New Document, Tab Margin & Bleed - at least on my iPad, in Publisher 2.0. Bleed adjustment when the document is open is in the „hamburger“ 3 horizontal lines menu, Document Settings, and then at the bottom right (scroll down). When you go to the help page in the client (desktop or iPad), you find a link to Online-Tutorials. These are maintained by Serif directly - an advantage to YouTube tutorials, that often refer to older versions of the app. You can access them directly as well - here for example the iPad tutorials for Affinity Photo: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/photo/ipad/ Because there are many tutorials, I would only watch a few basic ones initially. Good practice would be to watch them on one device, and follow the steps on a second one running the App. Learn the basics of the user interface first, then add a few (!) practices you want to employ. Don’t try to learn „all“ - you won’t make it, you won’t need it and because of a lack of practice you will faster forget than progress. Some printers have a different margin at the edges of the paper. They offset the printed content by this extra margin. Often it can be found in the manual or the settings.

Was immer helfen kann ist der Ersatz einer alten HDD durch eine SSD. SATA-SSDs im 2,5“ Format bekommt man gerade nachgeschmissen. 4GB RAM sind definitiv zu wenig. Die älteren Macs sollten sich da doch noch relativ einfach aufrüsten lassen ? Auch RAM kostet nicht mehr due Welt. Beides macht aus einem 11 Jahre alten Mac jetzt keine Killermaschine, aber helfen sollte es.

Especially for photo Restauration you will find the iPad version with the pencil most useful. Just take your time to learn the gestures (1, 2, 3, more fingers ...), because the iPad version relies heavily on them.

Get both - the Mac version for the full workflow, the iPad for everything related to the pencil, and some nice quick workflows. Use iCloud to save to the same storage - the file format is identical and allows to start on one device, and continue on the other.

Have you ever checked your fonts with the Macs font book for irregularities ? Just open the font list and move down the list font by font (I use the down arrow for that). If a font has a problem, it will show a yellow triangle at the bottom (if there are many subcontinent in a package, you need to scroll down to the end of the font page) and offer a fix. Beside this Catalina is quite sensitive for the privacy & security settings. Go to the Macs settings, Security & Privacy, open all tabs and categories, scroll down each list and check all options related to Photo. Takes a moment, but needs to be done only once.

Apart from that: A good router is in the 150-200$/€ - Range, at least for a consumer product. If you go for a new WiFi6-Router maybe 250-300$/€. It speeds up everything you do. I agree that IT equipment is expensive (especially if from a fruit shop), but the Router is among the less expensive components. My router is a top of the line model rented from my ISP for a small (5€) monthly fee, and I have bought a repeater to improve my WiFi by setting up a mesh network. Maybe your ISP is renting Routers as well, so not a significant investment needed. If you have got one from your ISP and it is old, maybe it is just a phone call to get it replaced by a new one free of charge.

Well, you copy an URL you want to analyze. You open that page: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ There is a field where you can enter any URL you want to analyze. You click on analyze, and the analytics page will call the URL posted, and give a result. It will tell how fast the reaction was compared to other pages in the web, which page elements braked down the page, and what could be done to speed things up. This will tell you if the delivery of the page To the Internet is slow, or if the problem is with your setup or software. If a page is delivered fast in general (which this analysis is testing), but slow with you, you know the problem is local. If a page is slow in itself, maybe your fast equipment is just idle waiting for the web site to be delivered. I have used the URL of this page to test it, and the Forum got a bad overall ranking:

If you try the developer website link I have posted, and call the forum page, you can see for each element of that page how fast it is loading. Maybe it works the same if you call the URL of slow content, have not tested it. The good thing it is build to show how a website performs in delivering content, so it measures the time until content is made available. If the problem rests with the forum rather than your own setup, you will see it there. Apart from that I would point to the TC, since it is a piece of good but already aged network technology. I run only managed Switches and a Synology NAS, since it allows for better control of what happens in my home network. I love my Mac, but the Apple approach to networks is too restricted for my ability to set everything up my way.

Some ideas: What sort of external network are you using ? Type of network, upload and download speed, with a VPN etc. ? Same for the internal network: Locally connected by WiFi, or by LAN ? What is the network speed ? There is a free service from Google that allows to measure for any web site how fast it is loading, which elements are slower than the average on the internet, and what to do to speed things up. Originally it was designed for web site developers to see how their site performs. But you can use it as well to see if there are problematic issues on a site that is slow: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ Which DNS-resolver do you use ? Sometimes it is by default set to the resolver of your ISP, but there are faster services. The DNS-resolver converts the requested web site (which can be many , because modern websites are composed from many sources) to the IP address , so the content can be requested and loaded. I prefer the 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) over 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 (Google and Google fallback server). Both are very fast. Another element in speeding things up is my Pi-Hole. A Pi-Hole catches all requests going to the internet and filter tracking and advertising requests. The advantage is that it surpresses these parts of the traffic, which means it is not requested and not delivered. An ad blocker has everything delivered, it will just not show. So a Pi-Hole reduces traffic at the source. To run it, you need a Raspberry Pi and you need to learn some Linux to set it up. Just to mention it, I have absolutely not problem with the forum site, not on my MacBook Pro neither on my other iDevices.

Hinweis: Dabei gehen ggf. bestimmte Hilfsmittel verloren, die du vorher in Publisher installiert hast. Auch die Einstellungen müssen neu gemacht werden. Je nachdem kann das einiges an Arbeit erfordern.

Photo and Designer are available, Publisher not. It was announced, but I don't think there is a release date any time soon. Both run practically the same routines as the desktop, but the GUI is quite different. And most tutorials you find are for desktop, and will not work on the iPad versions. Serif has a set of iPad tutos, and you find some on YT if you search for them. But it is different, some things are quite hidden, and you need to learn a few gestures with your fingers to work effectively. Make sure you get an Air with enough memory, since aphoto files can get pretty large, and the apps cache will quickly run into several GB. If you buy the new Air (the one with the A14 and the USB-C-port), get the 256GB model. I like my iPad Pro 10.5" (which is similar in size), but for full editing I move to my Mac. If I would make all edits on the iPad, I would probably get a 12.9" instead. The little screen of the smaller iPads IMHO just fills too fast with too much stuff to make it "happy editing". P.S. Get yourself a PW-manager. Our age (if you allow me to say this) needs the brain for other things than to remember login data. I use 1PW, which allows to share a part of the PWs (and other private information) with family members, just in case ...

Just a few ideas: Close everything else ... (especially browsers, because they need a LOT of resources). If you need the internet, use an iPad and Airdrop content to the MBP. Look at the activity monitor what else uses RAM. Many little gadgets installed in the menu bar, etc. ?! My MBP is eating 12GB of RAM while not really working - just a few open programs. Some I could kill to make room in the 1GB-range, but if I go down the list, there are a lot of little helpers, and each uses 25MB here, 15MB there. I have 32GB in total, so no issue here. Does your MBP run Metal ? This should be enabled in the AD settings. You don't tell about your config, so no idea what drive is running in your MBP. When it slows because RAM is full, AD starts to move things to the SSD. So make sure that it is not cluttered. Enable iCloud, get an iCloud upgrade, move stuff there. If you have a lot of layers, you can use "Promote group to a layer" to simplify the project. If this does not help right away, save, close and reopen AD. Downside: You can't redesign the former parts of the group individually, because the have been "welded" together. So maybe save a copy of your project first, to be able to copy the group later if you need to go back. What might help could be an external GPU instead of a new Mac. Metal makes use of all graphics resources, so it would use an external GPU fully to support AD. An EGPU only makes sense if you operate it on a Thunderbolt 3-connection. But in general, 8GB of RAM is probably what kills performance, and can only be healed by more RAM.

In general I would not try to do a simple issue like that in Publisher at all - I would use the serial document function in MS office or Libre / Open Office. There even exist templates for standard sticker sheets from the sticker companies that can be used for an easy set up. These come in the standard office template file formats. There is IMHO no need for Publisher to mimic each and every function available in other programs.

On the iPad Affinity uses the Apple RAW engine. It is not managed by Serif, but by Apple. There is a support document from Apple, last updated in May 2020 that lists all available cameras with RAW support. First I think you will think back to the day you switched to a Mac as one of the best decisions of your life ! Second think forward, not about what you may have to give up to get there. Or as others say, cut your losses short. Walt has shown with simple math why you will be better off anyhow. I still run my Windows PC for a few older programs, and have Affinity installed for compatibility reasons. I use it less and less, but it does not cost me any further money, so WTF, it is there and stays until the machine dies one day, or is retired for good.
