abstractmark reacted to Mr Bill in iPad tool Icons too small
This OK Boomer would greatly appreciate a more readable UI. I’ve tried sitting closer. I’d at least like a workaround. Procreate UI is fine.

I agree!!!!!! Transitioning from the desktop version is enough of a challenge. Please consider at least a preference option for larger interface icons! Thank you.

Please consider a user-selectable UI size similar to the one currently used in Adobe Illustrator. I need larger UI on both Ipad and Mac. Thanks!

abstractmark reacted to DavidJB in Please add double sized icons to the UI changes in 1.7 final!
I see that back in 2018 the topic of having the choice of larger icons had been 'logged as a feature request.'
Is it now possible to change the size of the icons?
I'm using a 27" monitor and the icons are about 1/3" across. Is this the default?
Thanks

Is it just me, or are the tool icons on the iPad smaller and/or harder to see with the latest update to Designer?
Is there a way to resize the icons on the iPad (I haven't been able to find it!)?
I may be desperate enough to get the 12" iPad, if the icons were proportionately larger. Does anyone know if the icons would be larger, or would the drawing space just be larger? Anybody?
Thanks in advance!

Yes they are smaller. This is not good for me either. I would like to see an option to have the bigger size icons.

Hi MaryAnne
The UI was made smaller in the latest update to accommodate the use of the smaller iPad models with a 7.9" screen. A few users have requested a settings option to return the UI to it's previous size, and so this may be an option we add in the future. In the meantime I'll move this thread to Feature Requests and Feedback so our devs can see your request!

They control the snapping of nodes and handles when using the Pen tool or Node tool.
Top left: Align to nodes of selected curves
Top right: Snap to geometry of selected curves
Bottom Left: Snap off-curve handles
Bottom Right: Snap all selected nodes when dragging

This would be the same process on the Desktop unfortunately. No problem at all

abstractmark reacted to Dan C in Batch import of multiple svg files as assets?
Hi marcoluna
Unfortunately this isn't possible currently, my apologies. You'll have to import each file then add the contents as assets manually. I'll move this thread to the iPad suggestions for our devs to consider in a future update!

Organic texture Brushes Pack 1 Version 2.0
I have been working on updating the original texture brush packs so that it complies with more recent uploads
The original 11 brush packs(.zip) files have been removed and replaced with a single file containing all the original brush packs so that they are stil accessible
Added a new set now containing 12 brush packs (120 brushes) also in a single file for download.
Made significant changes to the original brushes
a. simplified the nozzles by removing the intense pattern overlays and added 28 new additional png files to increase pattern variation.
b. Reduced the initial size of the some of the original brushes.
c. Adjusted the brush dynamics to allow for use of flow and accumulation in the general brush tab
d. Where possible reduced the reliance on random size variation in brush dynamics
d. Added sample 4 page PDF for download
e. Removed original sample images (11) and replaced with just 4
enjoy!
New Versions
TB ORGANICS V2.zip
OB 1 Set 1.pdf
Old Brush Set
ORGANICS 1 ALL V1.zip

Thanks for the reply here - I have only recently found and installed the brushes. I can’t say why the few I tried were causing a crash - it may have been the file I was working in since it’s all fine now in other documents. I’ll keep exploring and post back if there are issues. It’s fascinating to see how they are created using a combination of vectors and bitmaps. Thanks for making them available to us!!
(fyi My Ipad is currently running the latest iOS 12 public beta, and that could have something to do with it.)

abstractmark reacted to ThirtyFiveThousand in Affinity Designer to Adobe Illustrator: best practices?
Yes, Lee D, your statement is true. But what I’m looking for is which of the some things have to be rasterized for the trip across. For example: any clipping mask assemblies (you know, the shapes pasted inside other shapes) sent from .afdesigner to .svg arrived in .al as rasterized images on top of empty, unstroked shapes. So now I know that this particular .afdesigner feature will not survive the .svg conversion journey to .ai. And now, so do all of you.
This is the data I’m looking for. If anyone has any practical data about .afdesigner/.svg/.ai conversions, I’d really like to know more.

abstractmark reacted to toltec in Tutorials on using Mask tool?
Vector Masking means using a vector shape, or a hand drawn path, to make a pixel selection. Using that to mask the image.
That's why you have to go to the Pixel Persona, because you are ultimately making a pixel selection.
This is not the same as using a clipping path, where you can use a shape to 'clip' the image inside a vector shape or hand drawn path.
Adjustment layer masking means there is a mask built in to each adjustment layer. So if you applied a black and white adjustment, by painting on the adjustment layer with black paint, it masks the adjustment where you paint, creating a Colour Splash effect.
You need to clip your stuff inside a rectangle. Drag it all to the middle of the rectangle until a horizontal bar appears. That clips everything into the boundaries of the rectangle. Do that in the Vector persona.
