  1. After Reading all this ... two things comes in my mind that would be great:

1- Rename Affinity Publisher to Affinity Studio: Because of what it bring to the public and users and the way it will interact with already existing solutions from Serif.

2- Make it use less Resources (cpu and ram to be precise): This is the reason why i'm thinking of removing ID from my PC, i live in a country where i can't afford and/or easily buy PC/Mac with those massive memories (16,32, 64 etc...) so having a powerful products that works very well with a 4GB Ram Core2Duo dedicated PC/Mac will help resurrecting and growing my skills and my business by the same way.

... What does Dev's have to say about this ?

No, I don't. The Adobe PDF engine is very robust. What I mean is placing PDFs in PP, having those PDFs represented properly and export to PDFs unchanged. This is some that the better layout applications do well. The concept of PDF-pass-through was introduced late in PP's life and was never fully fixed so as to be reliable with a broader range of PDFs produced in other applications. The ones PP consistently struggled with were/are PDFs produced by ID.

This affected people who say were creating magazines or other publications wherein ads would come in from a variety of applications more so than a "normal" user. Of course, the exception being that many also needed to open PDFs for editing in PP and again, PDFs from ID were among the most difficult to faithfully open.

    I see.

I'm new at doing design and desktop publishing but I'm impressed how complete PP X9 is/was when I read it's description from Wikipedia and from avanquest website.

The only issue is that PP X9 is a windows only product but it they say it's work on pc with 512mb of ram only, which is something that I want to try

  3. I believe all this is good but for the time until Serif put things on the rails, we users should find a way to prepare for the rain.

I mean, there is a good one out there called  Spine.

With that one you can import Affinity designer projects and animate them.

I was impressed how easy it is to export things in JSON and animate the whole thing.

Give it a try and maybe it will help until Serif delivers something in that area.

What do you guys think about the logos being updated? I think they look pretty poor. More like this? I was a lot more strict geometrically. Don't mind criticism.

    Hi @christopherrestall Nice, really nice.

i mind read what other have to say but for me i believe there are missing things such as the impression layers that we can see in the official logo but also when you look at Designer logo it's more about a Pen drawing a line from outside the canvas.

i believe, you should consider to bring some superposition that will help others to make distinction between the different layers that characterizes the Affinity Logo.

    ... But good work !

... Thumb's up for this flat logo design work !

So, I fell in love with Affinity after about an hour of playing with it. I bought it and started bringing my favorite assets over from Photoshop and Illustrator, including some styles I have been using for years on my web projects. I thought perhaps others could use them too, so here they are with a bonus set of sticker styles.

Enjoy if they're of interest to you.  :D

UPDATE: New version 2.0! This time the gradients and strokes are tool editable. No more trips to the Effects Panel. This gives better and easier control of the styles.

BONUS: By request, 4 atmosphere styles. Included is the AD file with all styles applied for you to play with. Will likely only open in the latest beta. Sorry.

BONUS: Dream Metals styles! Aluminum, Gold, and Copper.

    Hello Pit,

    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Not yet, you still can't select objects by its attributes, but this will be added when possible.

Meanwhile check our roadmap for more information on what's coming.

hi @MEB i was also thinking about the same thing.

See attached picture as it more talking then I.

Nice job you guys are doing.

But, creating mask in Affinity Designer is very easy.

    Yes you are right.

i'm still learning and have used Ai and PS but never figured out the thing about masks but (i don't know if it's by preference) i found it easy to understand and to apply using affinity (photo and Designer) ... yet i'm to master the thing and make better design/photo works ... but on the other hand it would be nice if the Dev's can take that idea in consideration to improve the already existing tools.

Also, it's so easy to remove background/objects using Affinity softwares so... tools improvement would be very nice for everyone.

  8. Hello everyone

Was browsing the forum and found this.

Few days ago, an announcement which ressemble to the death of Adobe Muse CC.

Now, it's official Non-Coders are orphan.

I'm not sure if Serif have targeted to heal the caused pain but it would be a great idea.

Please dear Dev's, don't take this too serious and consider that I personally trust your work and I believe you have nice ideas for the release of a new breath into the creative world.

What software does this come from?

@Fatih19 got it from a small software which i think it's not important to name without being authorized by Affinitiy's admin and dev as we are not to compare Affinity products with others but help make them better.

I chose to share just the functionality because i found very useful and helpful when we work on project with a lot of imagines that we need to mirror or display with reflection.

    Hope this helps !

  10. Hello Dev's

Don't know something was said about but i want to know if the effect "Reflection" will be introduced with ADesigner 1.7 and/or next release of Photo.

in fact, it's good to manually do reflection when we work on project but it's can be time consuming to make manual "reflection" effect.

it would be great if Affinity Softwares would propose that by default, then we would just tune it by adjusting values to fit with what we are really looking for.

i have attached an idea of what i'm talking about to help.

    Hello @Arnaud Mez,

the concept of a 'master document' sounds to me more like something that we most likely will see in Affinity Publisher that is announced for later this year. Maybe this will bring some of the functionallity you are thinking of.

You can already mimic the concept of master pages with symbols:

    1. Create an artboard and place everything that is part of the masterpage on it.
    2. Create a rectangle of the size of the artboard.
    3. Select everything and group. Then make this group a symbol.
    4. Copy the artboard and resize it, if needed.
    5. Place different layout elements onto the artboards that are independent of the master page content.

Now, when you make changes to the master page elements on the first artboard this will change on all connected artboards.

I haven't tried this thoroughly. But basically it should work :)

    Cheers.

    d.

@dominik Whoow so nice what you brought.

Really appreciate that, will try it with my next project and revert.

    So nice to you around.

    Hi @Arnaud Mez,

did you look into Symbols? Those are a way of syncing design elements across multiple instances. Even if they are of different sizes.

I am not sure if this works completely as a solution to your question. But it works with text :)

    Cheers,

    d.

Dear @Dominic yes I have looked at the symbols and they are very good and even helped me to move very fast with my last design and even the idea of  meshing, dynamic components inside the project was birth out of many issues I faced with the symbols.

I then tough of a way to make it better using dynamic objects directly embossed in the master document and synced between  all connected Artboard.

Very similar with network router tables and the way they update one another.

At this stage... Why not synch other stuffs too.

May just be considered as the improvement of the already good to use symbols
