    Hi
I'm trying Affinity Designer as I think I will be able to save a design (logo) that I created in PowerPoint, as a vector file. I need to have it as a high resolution file so that I can upload etc. Is it possible to save this as a vector file and can anyone direct me please about how I would be able to do this. I'm a novice using design programs so simplifying any instructions would be greatly appreciated..lol..!!
    Thanks in advance

As you may know, we now have a few iPad Pros at Affinity HQ and will be starting to devote more time to developing versions of Affinity for it in the coming months.

They are incredible bits of kit, and we think—especially in conjunction with the Pencil (and Affinity when it's available!)—the iPad Pro will be a serious tool for creatives.
Want to get your hands on one? We're entering anyone who helps spread our amazing App of the Year news on social media into a free draw!   All you need to do is:   Follow us on Twitter and retweet this tweet   OR   Like our Facebook page and share this post   The winner will be chosen at random and announced on this forum thread sometime on Friday the 18th December.   Best of luck!   Kate

Horacenerosstob reacted to deeds in Keyboard Shortcuts Cheat Sheet for Affinity Tools!
Some programs, if they were really smart, might go into a sort of "screen saver" all of their own, that perhaps floated around an image of something like this, with all the shortcuts in each different mode, and the modes selectable, so that the shortcut icons on the keys could be shown LARGE, for easy recognition.

The real dream would be having  a visual cue sheet of the shortcuts on an iPad next to the computer, and pressing on them at any time to select the desired item, and it flashing up a keyboard shortcut to remind/teach the user how to become less dependent on the iPad for shortcuts, and progressively move to using the keyboard and modifier key combos.

I too much prefer the original icons. The icons give a visual message of what they do, especially the Publisher icon compared to the new version. Why does AFFINITY have to follow a trend? Most thing come round full circle and only dead fish swim with the current.
I hate to criticise as I am a great fan of AFFINITY and the way you guys interact with users.

Howdy folks. I'm an absolute beginner so please forgive if I ask any stupid questions ;-)

I want to design a poster for my band and I would like to add some texture to the design.
A little bit like this (I'm just tallking about the texture, forget about all the rest ;-) ) :

I really love that vintage vibe that's going on in this poster.
I tried adding a texture photo as a layer and then blend it with my drawing but when I enlarge it the drawing looks great but the texture ofc looks very bad because it is pixel based. How can I get this effects in Designer? All help is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hello everyone.
My name is Rui Batista and I'm a graphic designer from Portugal.
I started out a LONG time ago, using Illustrator 1.0 and, after that, FreeHand 1.0
Ever since Adobe "killed" FreeHand, I have been forced to use Illustrator and I hate every second I use it.
I have been searching for viable alternatives and, finally, it seems that I found one. Affinity looks amazing. And at a reasonable price. I can't wait for its official realease.

When I start a new document, I have a list of presets. Those presets have the strange unit of "inch" - whatever this may be. I can than change the document units to something meaningful like centimetres or pixels.

    1) It would be nice, if the presets would reflect this change.

    2) When I change to a different preset, the document units revert to "inches". This is a behaviour, which is only meaningful, if you have the intention to annoy the user.

While the British people have decided to stay away from Europe, please respect at least, that other people prefer to stay away from British units of measurement.

    Hello!

We've got a new app coming out - for the latest generation Apple TV (Late 2015)!

It's a learning / teaching tool for users of Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer.

For now, it simply contains all our video tutorial content from the website / Vimeo. We'll of course be adding more focussed, appropriate content over time. We'll also be doing a better job of categorising the content and grouping it together.

If you have an Apple TV (Late 2015) and would like to beta test this new tool - please email tv@seriflabs.com and tell us your email address (the email must be associated with an active Apple ID) - we'll then add you to the TestFlight beta program and you should receive further installation instructions.

    Thanks!

    Andy.

I have some free assets for creating fantasy maps for RPGs for example.
These assets have a brown outline which are not really suitable for the background color of the assets management UI.
It would be an improvement for dark color assets, if at least the background color of the asset tab can be adjusted.
In the attached screen I raised the gamma in the settings to its highest value.

Horacenerosstob reacted to Jim Monson in Open/close sublayers in multiple top layers
AD's option of selecting multiple layers and then locking or unlocking them via a keystroke is fabulous. Very intuitive and fast. However, there appears to be no way to reveal/hide the sublayers of a single layer or multiple sublayers under higher layer(s). This exists in Illustrator (holding down OPT in the top layer and clicking). Even better would be to chose all top layers and then reveal/hide them with a keystroke (as in your lock/unlock option).

My problem is that in bringing over a very detailed geological map project from Illustrator into AD I am left with multiple sub, subsub and subsubsub layers/curves (which were clipped colored regions in Illustrator). Presently I must go down a myriad of top layers and individually expand sublayer after sublayer. To do this with a single click would be extremely helpful. Perhaps this is already possible in AD and I have not discovered it.

PS: All of the sublayers in this AD doc were not visible in Illustrator but became visible in AD as it attempted to "translate" the doc from Illustrator's no doubt complex programming.
