  1. As this is a beta each iteration should gradually improve the stability of the software. The issue mentioned is fixed in the upcoming 1.5.0.6 build which should be out later this week.
  2. Hi KoBu, This is now possible using the new Symbols panel (View > Studios > Symbols).
  3. Hi Woodkopf, This is a known issue and is caused by the dual monitor setup with different resolutions. It is already logged with the developers so hopefully we will see a fix come through soon!
  4. Hi Beta-Tester I've tried this with German language set and Mark's translation DLLs and unfortunately I can't reproduce it. Does this only happen in 1 document for you, or have you had it happen in a newly created document? When you add the new layer and it doesn't appear - have you noticed any triangles in circles appearing on layers inside the Layers panel (to indicate there are objects inside that layer)?
  5. Hi Jonopen, This is a known issue and affects both the Mac and PC. However it is currently with the developers to look into.
  6. To expand on Alfred's answer, Affinity allows you (by default) to snap to a maximum of 6 objects at any time - these 6 objects are known as 'Snapping Candidates'. The reason for this is with many objects on a page it can get very tiresome trying to align your objects to others when it is snapping to all other objects on a page - therefore we came up with the idea of snapping candidates. To let users know what the current 6 snapping candidates are it will highlight them with the purple line you've described. To change a snapping candidate simply hover your mouse cursor over an object and it will then highlight purple to show it is a snapping candidate. As Alfred has mentioned these can be hidden by disabling the 'Show snapping candidates option', however if you don't like this method then we have also allow you snap to all objects in the immediate layer, all objects and their children in the immediate layer and all layers.
  7. Hi Willernest, Unfortunately these seemingly random crashes can be quite hard to diagnose and repeat. I've tried using the Selection Brush tool on a pixel layer, however it is not crashing for me. Do you remember any specific steps you were doing that lead to the crash? If so try and repeat those and see if you can reproduce the crash.
  8. Hi thatFloozie, Unfortunately I've been unable to recreate this from scratch. I've tried using a Ellipse with a red fill and white stroke and when I create a palette I still only get the two colours. I've also tried it in both Draw (with and without pixel drawing mode on) and Pixel persona and still no luck. Would you be able to attach the document that is giving you a problem please?
  9. Hi Svero, We've just tried the GTX 960 on my Windows 8.1 machine (Intel Core i7 2600, 8GB RAM) and unfortunately still not able to reproduce the issue. As well as posting the contents of the Event Viewer that Chris B has asked for could you try and answer the following questions for me please? 1. Have you tried running any kind of 3d game or application at all? If not would it be possible for you to try installing and running the 3DMark Basic Edition (it is free - their should be a download link to several different sites) and see if that gives you the same behaviour 2. Are the beeps coming out of your PC speaker, or do they sound more like they are coming out of your PC case? 3. Would you be able to give a bit more information on the hardware you have such as the CPU, Motherboard and RAM. CPU-Z should be able to give you this information if you're unaware of it (you'll want the CPU tab, Mainboard tab and Memory tab). Thanks!
  10. Hi Matej, This is a known issue and has already been reported to the developers! :)
  11. Hi Mick, Sorry to be a pain, would you be able to zip those and link them? As there are a lot of files and I can't see a way in Google Drive's site to download an entire folder at once. I'm glad clearing the data has worked. Hopefully with this appdata I'll be able to reproduce the issue.
  12. Hi Robert, 1. I can reproduce the issue mentioned with a single View Point so i'll get it reported. You mentioned about keyboard shortcuts what were you using? And was they only applied to Move to Previous View Point and Move To Next View Point? 2. I am also able to reproduce this, so i'll get it reported to the developers! 3. Any chance you could post a screenshot of this? Also what size and orientation of document are you using? As for the View Commands we are currently trying to keep parity with the Mac version. If you do wish to see these please make a post about it in the Feature Request forum.
  13. Hi Matej Junk, I'm able to reproduce this so I shall get it reported to the developers!
  14. Thanks Alfred, I'll take a look into that and get it reported!
  15. Boolean operations only work with closed shapes - this is also the case in Illustrator when trying to use the 'Divide Pathfinder' option.
  16. This is probably because you have your Windows Display scaling options set to something other than 100%. It might be worth investigating this and trying a setting which suits you more.
  17. Hi Matt, Please be aware this is predominately a Vector design program and NOT aimed at Photo Editing such as PhotoPlus (which is raster based). 1. With these random crashes I would try to look out for some kind of pattern as to when you see them. If you are able to spot a similar pattern please try to reproduce and let us known. Apart from that ensure you do send the crash reports when you restart Affinity as this allows us to help fix this seemingly random crashes you encounter. 2. Documents can be resized from Document Setup, otherwise objects can be resized using the Move Tool. There is also a Vector Crop Tool available which allows you to apply a vector crop to a single object. If you are wanting a crop to crop your image then this is not possible within Designer and is instead found in Affinity Photo. 3. Could you describe in a bit more detail as to what you find confusiong about this? Try to describe the steps you are taking and what you expect to happen and what is actually happening. 4. Could you attach a screenshot of this along with what resolution you are running Windows at please? 5. Merge Layers is not an option in Designer. As the majority of objects are vector based you do not merge them, but instead you boolean commands such as Add/Subtract/Divide etc.
  18. This is not particularly helpful to the user and to us. We are looking at trying to resolve issues with Affinity and not telling users to put it through some other software. Sorry, I may have misunderstood your intent. I am struggling to get Affinity to give this output so will get an issue reported - however it is the same as the Mac. Still it is worth noting that the GIF approach is still not the best when using text on transparent backgrounds as i've shown above it looks horrible when placed on darker backgrounds.
  19. Could you attach the file you're trying to export please? The problem with GIF transparency is that only 1 colour can be marked as transparent therefore a pixel is either 100% transparent or 0% transparency (fully opaque). This can lead to some very jagged/aliased looking images (especially with curves). The PNG format however is much better as it allows for pixels to have a range of transparency from 0% transparency (fully opaque) to 50% transparency to 100% transparency. This means that curves get a nice feathered effect. Unfortunately what you are trying to do with a transparent background is simply not possible using the GIF format. Looking at the output from Illustrator it is actually 'cheating' with the transparency. It is fading out from black to grey to white to improve the look. However this looks bad when placed on a dark background (see attached). We do offer different resample options for export which ideally should help with these situations however it currently doesn't appear to affect the outputted file in anyway so I shall take a look into that.
  20. Thanks for the positive feedback chuckbaggett! We're glad you're enjoying the app! If you do encounter any issues don't hesitate on making a new post!
  21. Can you tell me the full file location of the installer please?
  22. There is a known issue with Affinity in the current build. It should however be fixed in the upcoming 1.5.0.5 build due this week :)
  23. I'm still getting both the 8-bit and Percentage options when I change the dropdown from Greyscale to CMYK. Could you close Affinity down and go to %appdata%\Serif\ and rename the Affinity Designer and Affinity Common files (putting the word 'temp' at the start of each is fine). Once you've done that hold down Ctrl and double click the Affinity Shortcut. In the Clear user data dialog click 'Select All' and then click 'Clear' and see if that solves the issue. If that does solve the issue could you create a zip file of those two renamed folders in %appdata% and upload to Dropbox/WeTransfer or similar service and PM me a link please. It could be something has gone wrong in your user data, so I maybe able to pass that on to the developers to take a look into!. Thanks!
  24. That is very peculiar. What OS and resolution are you using? Also could you attach the file that the issue occurs in to the thread please and then see if you get those options on a new document.
  25. I've now reported this to developers that the 'Save as type' dropdown should list what file is being exported instead of just 'Affinity Files'.
