BobsDaubs reacted to wwvuillemot in How to Determine Current Brush Type, Size
I completely agree.  The brush studio seems flawed in its implementation -- at least to Procreate where you can much more easily see what brush you are using.
As noted when using Brush Studio
    1. Select Brush -- it is highlighted
    2. Change any setting such size -- it is no longer highlighted
    3. Return settings to original -- still does not highlight
    4. Brush Name Not Shown -- it also hard to know since you cannot remember a name, unless, as noted, you go and fuss with the advanced dialogs for the brush.  Hovering will show the name, but as I am using a Wacom Cintiq this is agonizing hard to do.
I find this exceedingly frustrating as I am doing digital art.  Makes me want to look at other programs to see if they are better suited to digital art workflows.  My hope with Affinity is a single product between macOS and iOS ... but even something as "trivial" as this is a huge amount of friction to me -- especially as is only one of 3 studios I really care about:  1) brushes, 2) layers, 3) colors.

    Hi all
This is a new small sample set of brushes I have been working on for several months with base textures, seamless patterns with mixed vector/bitmap nozzles.

It is a larger single set containing 30 raster brushes I have changed the numeric s slightly on the brush reference sheet (it's just a number!)

    Sample sheet is attached

BobsDaubs reacted to Mensch Mesch in Simple hatching styles | Einfach Schraffur Stile
With these simple hatching styles you can hatch your vector objects in Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo. Affinity Publisher Beta seems not working yet (previews looks strange on my machine).

    DOWNLOAD: https://mensch-mesch.com/download/affinity-designer-schraffuren-hatchings/
With the red styles you can easily change the color of the hatching while using an adjusment layer recolor.
    Keep on drawin'

BobsDaubs reacted to Craig Deeley in A small collection of AD Texture Intensity brush experiments
Sharing some AD brushes I made that were the result of some fun experimentation.
Repeating strokes was a major theme in this set: CD_testbrush16-17.afbrushes
These are brushes made while testing several notions.
I am dropping these with no formal arrangement. They are grouped as they were created.

Left side of the reference image attached:
The first six brushes are designed to see how some “wet” watercolor or ink looking strokes might work when set to repeat.
Further down are wet edged strokes for line like effects.
Some have a generic texture that can be drawn over and over to create coverage. Coverage over large areas that doesn’t look like a flat fill. Just keep drawing until the strokes cover - like a watercolor fill.

    Right side:
Strokes on the right column are mostly experiments in seeing how well the texture of Koh-I-Noor Magic FX Pencils could be emulated. These pencils are the most fun drawing tools imaginable. I was looking for a way to have several colored bands NOT draw as uniform bands (always in the same position) in emulation of the random effect of the real pencils. This was an interesting experiment - making the color bands look semi-random - but also making the bands link up and repeat.
These were made from scans of strokes made with one of the actual pencils. The color examples are the actual pencils colors. To retain the original colors - don’t apply a stroke color to the brush.
There are several more repeating “wet” brush strokes on the right side as well.
Some of the line style brushes were used in the grumpy geezer image and this:

    Enjoy!
If you do find a use for these brushes - please do share with me examples of artwork you create. I would love to see.

As a web designer, I find websites like uiGradients.com a quite useful resource, with a massive selection of ready-made gradients (and css code for those).
This palette is a complete (01.09.2018) pack of all gradients alongside their names, hand-imported over the course of an afternoon and a few podcasts.
I don't think you can copyright colors/gradients, but the GitHub repository of the uiGradients.com website is licensed under MIT. I'll try to keep the file up to date with the website, but if there's a missing gradient or a error, please tell me about it.

It was a try to add some hope and fun in an answer to post about how a version 1 of an app isn't as complete as a v. 9 or v. 12 of others apps.
But there's already a lot of posts about how features aren't implemented fast enought and which feature each one of us deems most important to ba added first.
Serif also did a threat to discuss next features and added some videos to show they are making progress.
I understand your frustration, but if you can use another app while waiting for new features, that's nice.  Rome wasn't made in a day and all of us are waiting next updates like children on christmas eve.
Cheers, we'll have more features when Serif'll be happy they're behaving as expected.  But good work need time, and we should stay patient.
