CircularWebs reacted to rainy in Live Preview with Dropbox (AD)
    Hello

Here's a simple solution to get live preview from AD to other devices that have Dropbox installed.

    1) Let's start by creating a New folder in Dropbox. (Tip: if we add underscore in front of folder name then the newly created folder will always be the first.)

    2) Open AD and create new document.  File > New > OK.

    3) Now let's insert Nexus 6 artboard and save it as live_preview.designer file in _Affinity folder on Dropbox. (So we can edit it later)

    4) Switch to Export Persona mode and go to slices and click Export Slices. Export slices to _Affinity folder in Dropbox and you will see two new files appearing in it background.png and Nexus 6.png.

    5) Continuous mode now will be enabled, check it.

    6) Let's go back to Draw Persona mode and make some changes to our document. You will see that files get updated automatically in Dropbox.

    7) Now you can open Dropbox app with any of your device that supports it go to _Affinity folder and see live updates to your work (well...you have to hit refresh sometimes :).

I have been working on updating the original texture brush packs so that it complies with more recent uploads

The original 11 brush packs(.zip) files have been removed and replaced with a single file containing all the original brush packs so that they are stil accessible
Added a new set now containing 12 brush packs (120 brushes) also in a single file for download.

Made significant changes to the original brushes
    a. simplified the nozzles by removing the intense pattern overlays and added 28 new additional png files to increase pattern variation.
    b. Reduced the initial size of the some of the original brushes.
    c. Adjusted the brush dynamics to allow for use of flow and accumulation in the general brush tab
    d. Where possible reduced the reliance on random size variation in brush dynamics
    d. Added sample 4 page PDF for download
    e. Removed original sample images (11) and replaced with just 4

    enjoy!

    Hi Chintan,
In Develop Persona there's a panel - Overlays - that lets you paint over an area of the image to limit the adjustments to that area. Juts click the Add Overlay Brush tool on the bottom of the panel or the Overlay Paint Tool in the toolbar on the left to define the area you want to affect. You can create as much overlays as you want/need. Check this video for more details: RAW: Overlays

In Photo Persona the same thing can be accomplished through an Adjustment Layer as @CircularWebs suggested. All Adjustments/Live Filters include a built-in mask that lets you limits the area affected by the adjustment/filter. Check this video for more details: Mask Layers.

Have you tried 'Adjustment layer or Live Filter Layer' then choose from the roll-down's, there is a tutorial for this, I've watched but can't put my finger on it....

Also burn brush on a pixel layer, so you can delete and try again if the effects not what you wanted...

CircularWebs reacted to MEB in Affinity account
    Hi RGADBOIS,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
If you bought it through the Mac App Store (for Mac), there's no need to create an affinity account on the Affinity Store since we only sell the Windows version there (plus the Affinity Designer Workbook).
All (re)download / install / update the program actions are done through the Mac App Store. To get the Force Macro Pack Vol.1, go to menu Help ▸ Welcome... and click the download link that appears on one of the sliding pages (it's the first one). Note that you must be connected to the internet to see those pages.

CircularWebs reacted to MEB in So Many Tutorials! Where to start?
    Hi Larryford,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
There's nothing particular with PSD files. Just go to menu File ▸ Open to open them in Affinity and File ▸ Export to save them/export to PSD. The best format to keep everything editable when working in Affinity however is our own native file format: afphoto. To save to this format go to menu File ▸ Save As.
To edit them simply use the program and you would do with any other file/project. You can start learning by checking the official tutorials for Affinity Photo on this thread: Official Affinity Photo Video Tutorials (200+). Just follow them in the order they appear there. Note that some PSD features are not currently supported in Affinity - like Smart Objects for example - but most base features - adjustments, layer effects, masks etc shouldn't pose a problem.

    Hi,

I've been using both Designer & Photo now for about a week, and I've completed a load of advanced tutorials in both to get to the basics up to more advanced stuff. However, the one tutorial that I cannot find is how to interlock overlapping segments of objects. Think the Olympic rings.
I'd really appreciate it if there's someone who can guide me in this regard.

    Thank you,

I wanted to enhance dark lines in an architectural image, so needed a layer with only outlines and otherwise transparent. Here's what I did.
Duplicate background Detect edges Adjustment layer: Black/white, Merge Layer/Invert Adjustment layer: Levels black 50%, Merge Filters/Colours/Erase White Paper Opacity to suit. (Yes, I could Blend Mode: Darken rather than erase white paper, but having just the lines gives a bit more flexibility).

    Is there a better way?

Does Affinity Photo have a built-in feature to calibrate colors across a series of different photos using a tool such as X-Rite Colorchecker Passport which is integrated into other photo and video applications?

    Thanks, Frank

    Hi Frank,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
No, currently there's no built-in features to help calibrate colours, sorry.
You may want to add this to the Features Request section.

Hi, metaweb20.  What is the color checker you are holding?   I know it's not the passport.

I use the classic 24 patch cardboard one, that's sort of 3.5 inches by 2 inches.

Using the application Raw Photo Processor 64, (RPP 64) I create my camera/sensor/lens/lighting custom profile.   AP cannot read RPP 64 profile, and staff has said it will be readable in a future release.

What you are asking for is marvelous! ! !     Do add to features request section.

    Kind regards,

I sat down and went through a numbers of the tutorials which are as excellent as I expected, having used Designer and now Affinity Photo (Betas thru RTM). Thank you very much for whisking me through the important points and designing such excellent videos.

For those of us who are using the programs on MacBooks, I am being bold in requesting that it might be easier for us (me) to follow if the cursor movements in the videos could be highlighted when they stop and pick a tool (like a brief red circle highlight) because I was paying so much attention to the dialog that it was a bit hard to follow the cursor and tool choices movements.

Perhaps it was because I was more anticipating seeing what 'magic' you have created with the tools and listening to the clear distinguish dialog, that I missed some movements across the screen. I really did not want to stop the tutorial because it was so excellent and logical in its flow.

Smugly, I should think that you could whip out a development copy of your upcoming Affinity Video - (? grin ?) and use the magic 'follow action' tool!

When you enter text, there are two Windows with colors in them in the upper part of the screen. One is normally black but you can change the color and it will be the color of the text you select. This is not mentioned in the help file, I wonder why.
