    Hello Steve and welcome
You can choose your preferred measurements when initially setting up a new document from the Document Units field of the setup window.
If it's an existing project you can go back to the Document Setup window at any time and choose your preferred units and make changes to the other document attributes if you need.
To do this in Designer go to File > Document Setup. Key board shortcut; Shift cmd P

    Hi Onca4242,

    Welcome to the Forums :)

You have to manually create Luminosity Masks at the moment, there is a tutorial showing you how to do that here.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi

    Welcome to the forums! :)

This is not currently available in the full version at the moment but will be added in a future update, you can however access this feature in the latest customer beta build of Affinity Photo which you can download here. :)

    Hi Manolosf
I am unable to replicate this issue here, could you try resetting the app? This can be done by opening the app with the CTRL key held down, clicking Select All and Clear

Let me know if this helps :)

Might be best to use third party apps for slideshows. Good ones are JustLooking (free) and FotoMagico (commercial).

afphoto is a closed format so other browsers won't read it

But news for an affinity DAM are announced for 2016 (check my signature)
    https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/13792-feature-request-affinity-lightroom-killer/?p=61067

You can also export to .psd to preserve layer structure but maybe some effects from affinity won't be kept as editable as in an afphoto format (like live perspective distortion filter)

    Hi pjglad

We do not currently have an HSL feature within the Develop Persona unfortunately, this has been requested before here so it may be something that can added to the app in the future.

Please feel free to also post this in the feature requests part of the forum!

    Hi mosmos0789,
How do you have created the stroke? It's an Outline FX effect? The Layer Effects are raster based so they can't be converted to paths (or expanded).
Can you attach the file here so i can take a look?

Here's how to attach a file/image in the forums just in case.

Most of the Topaz plugins work with Affinity I'm not sure if Remask 5 does however. I have included a guide below on how to install these plugins for Affinity photo if you would like to give it a try :)

    Hi Mvdarbs,

Thanks for posting on the forums :)

Both Affinity Designer and Photo have a colour picker tool, this can be found in the Colour Tab in the top right hand corner.

Click and drag the colour picker tool onto the colour you wish to sample, this will then be held for you in the colour tab to use when you like :) - You can also use this with the paintbrush tool selected, hold down ALT and drag, this will match the colour in the same way.

    Hi CaptainCowpie

    Welcome to the forums! :)

With regards to inserting an image on the canvas at the size you want it, I would suggest starting a new document (File>New) and specify the size of the canvas, then click File>Place and select your image, just click on the canvas to insert and resize your image.

You can now apply the vignette and this should apply the image entirely, if not feel free to PM me a copy of the document your working with so I can take a closer look. I have also provided a link to another thread here which provides help with the vignette tool, this maybe helpful! :)

JFisher reacted to Callum in Lighten a dark face in an already bright picture
    Hi Cmajor7

    Welcome to the Forums :)

To import photos from your Photos Library press ⇧⌘M to bring up the Media Browser and navigate to the Photos section here you should be able to import all of your photos. Once you have brought your photo into the app you will need to select the area of the persons face that you want to make lighter. If you are unsure of how to make Selections then I would suggest watching this tutorial. Once you have your selection you will want to apply an Adjustment to it. If you are unsure of where to find the Adjustments or how to apply them then this tutorial should be able to help you with that. The Adjustments I would suggest using to make the faces lighter are: Brightness/Contrast, Curves and Shadows and Highlights. This should give you the desired effect.

JFisher reacted to A_B_C in New Beta download
    Hey Jack,

if I may chime in here … the “other Jack” ;) seems to suggest the following:
Go to Mac HD / Users / *your_username* / Library / Containers, where *your_username* indicates your personal home folder. This home folder is usually named “Jack” or the like. Move the folder com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.beta that you will find within the mentioned Containers folder to the desktop. Install the new Beta of Affinity Designer, run it and close the application. Now you will find a new folder named com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.beta within the mentioned Containers folder. This one was created by the new Beta. So you have two folders named com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.beta, the first one on your desktop (A.), and the second, new one in the Containers folder (B.). I am inclined to believe that you can just replace folder (B.) by folder (A.). But I am not sure about side effects, and Jack suggests the following: Replace the contents of (B.) / Data / Library / Application Support / by the contents of (A.) / Data / Library / Application Support /, where (B.) is the folder named com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.beta within your Containers folder (that was created by the new Beta), and (A.) is the folder named com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner.beta on your desktop. Does that help?
    Cheers, Alex  :)

    Hi Soula,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Open the App Store app, click on the Purchased icon on top, look for Affinity Designer and click on the Install button. Alternatively click here, then on the View in Mac App Store blue button right below the application icon (this will open the App store application on your computer) then press Install there.

    Hi Mediafuel,

If you use the Fill Tool [G] and set the Context to Stroke and the Type to Linear you will be able to draw your own gradient within the curve and change the angle of it by dragging the nodes. I have included a screenshot below to help you with the Context and Type settings  :)

    Hi Ronnyb!

We're getting mixed results with this. I'm able to replicate the issue on my iMac but on a Macbook connected to a Thunderbolt display it works when using the display, but the macbook itself is having the same problem.

    Ill get this logged.

    Well, that was interesting ...

I'm composing this on returning home from the weekly meeting of the camera club.  Tonight, about 60% of the evening was given over to a tutorial on "Photoshop", which was actually PS Elements.  Running on a pretty beefy laptop, with W7.

I wasn't going to go but the presenter asked if I'd like to turn up with the MBP and non-PS editing software, just to have another perspective.  Sure thing guys ... just give me a thumb drive with the sample images, which they did.

It was horrific.  The presenter knew his way around the program but I got better results from APB in less than half the time for every technique they showed - and all the "beachballs" were on the W7 machine.

This was my first exposure to any PS/Adobe variant, other than a couple of 30 day trials of LR5 some months ago before settling on Capture One, and a nasty time with PSE about 6 years ago editing images for a book.  If this is what a consumer or "prosumer" PS can do, I don't know what all the fuss is about - APB knocks it out of the park.

Final comments:  it is pretty clear that the full version of PS has rightly earned its place in the toolkit of professional photographers because of what it can do for them.   For those in this category - the "New appreciation" is at the level of serious hobbyists, so no need to post replies that you couldn't live without CC6 etc ;).  And yes, I know PSE has its limitations, but it was still an eye-opener about how good AP is.
