  1. For me on my Mac XnView only ever gives pixel dimensions for the files thumbnail never for the actual photo within the file. If you could provide some screenshots of how to get XnView to bring up info about the actual photo within the file that would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I also totally agree with you on this Carl. Hopefully someone at Serif will take the time to overhaul this potentially powerful export tool some time and make it more user friendly.
  3. Hello Poohbear, The size being reported by XnView I think is that of the file’s thumbnail image and not that of the actual photo. Which I suspect XnView can’t read. If you re-open the file in AP you will see that the image is still at it’s original size.
  4. Hello BuzzBuzz and welcome to the Affinity forums As there are some 205 posts in that thread about the possibility of importing PagePlus files, you might want to go strait to the last two posts, that are from Serif, summing up how things are likely to remain for the foreseeable future.
  5. Hello MiroGlass and welcome to the Affinity forums If the bounding box of an image has X on the corners and at the centres of each side rather than “bullets”, it means that the layer is locked and can not be resized or repositioned on the canvas. To unlock it, simply click the lock icon in the Layers panel for that layer. This locking of an image’s scale & size will happen automatically in Affinity Photo if you use the ‘Open…’ command to open an image in AP. The layer containing the image will also automatically be named as ‘Background’ in the Layers panel. But it shouldn’t happen if you are using the ‘Place Image’ command to bring an image into an existing document. Perhaps you could clarify exactly how you are opening your images in AP for editing?
  6. Yes, I’ve encounter this lack of thumbnails in the Layers panel. It’s been reported before: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/61253-ap-layer-thumbnails-often-not-updating/ https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/101329-thumbnails-take-too-long/ As you say, a minor bug, in so much as it doesn’t always happen and if you wait long enough the thumbnails will repopulate the layers. But still…
  7. Hello jdiamondAffinityPhoto, Serif haven’t moved to Mac App Store distribution only. But what have you got set in the app’s preferences for how often, if ever, the app should check for updates?
  8. This is something at Serif’s end I think as it was working around this time yesterday for me. Although clicking on the link in it for the Inksy brush pack did not connect to anything. So it may be down for bug hunting.
  9. Hello onto-r, You comment above from your post leads me to think you are using Photo beta? If so then this is a known bug in the current 1.8.163 beta build.
  10. Hello stewartvp, You can find the Windows Photo beta here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/34-photo-beta-on-windows/ Any owner of the retail version of Photo can install and try out the beta builds. But remember they are betas, so think twice before using them on important projects.
  11. Hello Alex, Very strange? I just tried down-sampling your image and all went well for me. See attached. I’m on a Mac, not sure if that’s significant or not? Downsampled_bicubic_600px_APhoto_1.7.3.tiff
  12. Under the ‘Show Me’ tab there used to be a dropdown where you could select which of the many forum areas would show in your content stream. Now all I can see is a field to type “tags” into. Tags are good for finding very specific content but not useful for controlling which specific forum areas show in our streams, which is what you could do before.
  13. FFT is working for me in the current retail version of AP 1.7, even with your provided image. I’m on OS Mojave still, so that may be a factor?
  14. Hello kjs, You can use Quick Mask. See my post near the start of this topic.
  15. The space bar is not needed to move a selection area, just click hold anywhere inside the selected area after drawing it out and you can drag it to another position. For altering the selected area, in addition to using the standard Selection modes of Add, Subtract, New, etc…, you can also go into QuickMask mode (or hit the Q key) then switch to the Move tool which will allow you to resize, rotate, shear, and again move the selection area.
  16. Fixed this anomaly by recreating my custom stream and deleting the original one. And January 2020 now exists!
  17. No spoke too soon, it’s stopped again! Here’s a screenshot of my filters. If you spot something I've set wrong let me know
  18. Hello Walt thanks for that, I really hadn’t noticed the tabs at the top there! I was on Browse. Yes, putting it to Activity works for me
  19. I know as of the start of January the Condensed display of posts got broken, and still is, but I’m also finding now that the filters; Ownership, Following, Time Period etc.. have stoped working properly for me too. For example; if I set Ownership to content I have posted in and Time Period to ‘Any Time’. I only get results up to the end of December 2019. It’s like January just hasn’t happened
  20. It plays fine for me here Garry. Using Firefox v72.0.1 Like Callum suggested, although the original poster had closed the windows they had not actually quit AP. In general on Macs clicking the red traffic light button closes just the window not the app. But quite a few apps, including some from Apple themselves, don’t respect this old Mac convention and will in fact close the app. This inconsistency can understandably lead to some confusion at times.
  21. Wasn't sure if I should start a whole new post about this issue but this is actually happening now in ALL three beta apps, not just Photo.
