GaryLearnTech got a reaction from michie in Upsizing program that works with Affinity photo?
It may well be that your video is already sufficiently hig-res for your requirements. It may, in actual fact, be getting scaled down to be displayed on your MBP display so you can take your screenshots, which you now want to scale back up!
Open your video in QuickTime Player - probably the default if you simply double-click on the file - and select Window > Show Movie Inspector. Or just press command-I. The file's resolution can be found in the General section.
Or, in the Finder, simply select the file and choose File > Get Info and look under More Info > Dimensions.
Assuming the resolution is large enough in its raw state, try this…
Open the file in QuickTime Player and size your playback window to suit - it does not have to be viewed at 100% for this to work locate your first position and pause playback right-click anywhere on the video and select Copy Image (not Copy Subject - that will attempt to do background removal first, though this might be worth exploring for some of the images?). Even if the video is only displayed at, say, 33% of its full size, the Copy will grab the frame at 100%.
Jump over to Affinity Photo and select File > New from Clipboard - or just press option-shift-command-N Process as required - or simply save for now as you work through the video's timeline. Repeat… Alternatively, you could use the free and open source cross-platform multimedia player "VLC media player" instead of QuickTime Player. If you don't already have it, it can be grabbed from the official site here: https://www.videolan.org. It appears to have a dedicated snapshot mode. Go into the Settings > Video screen and set a default location for the VLC screenshots to be saved to.
Then, in a slightly different workflow to the QuickTime Player suggestion, work through the video timeline and harvest all your snapshots in one pass. Pause when you want a frame and either right-click anywhere on the frame and select Snapshot or select Video > Snapshot. Or just use the keyboard shortcut option-command-S. Then resume playback until you're at the next location and repeat.
Once you have your collection of PNG files, you can then process them at your leisure in Affinity Photo 2.

GaryLearnTech reacted to Patrick Connor in V2.6 News
Some of the reason for the pause in information is a change I made to the @Affinity Info Bot posts which used to tell users that a bug had been fixed and {is/would be} available in a beta available {already/very soon}. However I decided that going forward the bot would only post here once a beta build is actually available. So without starting a 2.6.0 beta, the regular nudge nudge of coming fixes has been silent. Sorry but I felt this change was necessary, as I knew that it would be a long time to tease users that their particular issue was theoretically fixed, but without a 2.6.0 beta to download that same fix was not available to try. I thought that would be incredibly frustrating and cause a lot of users to demand a 2.6 beta started before it was ready. Until now 2.6 has not been ready, and we're still a little way off.
So let me explain why there has been this extended period with no significant new beta..... We recognised that, by introducing multi-page spreads in 2.6 (so more than 2 pages per spread), we were making a significant change that would require a long internal testing period. The rearchitecture of spreads is nearly complete. As soon as we're ready with this and the other new features, we will announce the 2.6 beta in the beta forums and a flurry of over 200 bug fixes will be announced by the Affinity Info Bot.
The changes and improvements in 2.6 will, as Walt says, only be public once the beta starts. The multi-page change is unusual in that it has been discussed early.

Welcome to the Forums, @Ovi - PixelInd.com ! Good to know that post was still of use.

GaryLearnTech got a reaction from Ovi - PixelInd.com in Affinity Publisher Table of Contents not listing some headings that are styled appropriately
Hello @Bootsy and welcome to the Forums!
Since you didn't mention setting it explicitly, is it possible that you have simply overlooked the "Include entries before the TOC" option, shown below? The other one that might be affecting this would be the "Look in" setting, which probably needs to be set to All Text Frames.

GaryLearnTech got a reaction from jhoandsgnr in ¿How make a mesh gradient? (Adob3 Illustrator style)
If you are a Mac user, @jhoandsgnr, you might find "QuickQuad" useful. It's a free download from the Mac App Store. It hasn't been updated for about three years, but still seems to be working fine - at least on my Ventura-based system (macOS 13.6.7).
https://quickquad.imagestudiopro.com
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/quickquad/id1164029850?ls=1&mt=12
A quick test saw me generate an 8K image just as easily as one at 512x512. Although the editor operates on a square layout, you can specify other aspect ratios when they're output. These gradient images can be saved locally as files - or can even be opened from QuickQuad directly into an Affinity app.

GaryLearnTech got a reaction from Greg deJong in Adjusting numerical fields with mouse scrollwheel
Hi @Greg deJong I'm not going to comment on possible inconsistencies between the different apps, but I would like to suggest that you try holding down a modifier key while running your scroll wheel up or down. The quick screengrab below shows adjustments of 1px at a time, then 10px and finally then 0.1px at a time. On my Mac, the shift key gives the 10px increments and the option key the fractional changes.

GaryLearnTech got a reaction from Dr. Alex in Affinity designer V1, Apple Pencil pro, M4 IPad
Hi @Dr. Alex I've never been into the mobile versions. But I've got the M4 iPad Pro and the Pencil Pro, so I decided to have a dabble. I don't know if the following is what's expected or a workaround - but it seems to work. The screen-recording shows
create an ellipse convert it to a curve select the Node tool tap with one finger outside the curve and hold while you tap the curve to add new nodes Does this help? If this is not what you were expecting, what, as @walt.farrell asked, is your workflow?

GaryLearnTech got a reaction from kat in 2.5.5 update features, bug fixes?
It sounds like you may have already updated, but if you haven't, you can simply click the link that's provided by the apps. That page then offers the same link that @carl123 provided.

GaryLearnTech reacted to R C-R in 2.5.5 update features, bug fixes?
That may work now but as I reported in this topic just after 2.5.5 was released that link took me to the 2.5.3 release notes topic.

GaryLearnTech reacted to MikeTO in Benchmark results v25000
This comparison table won't be useful until we have more data, so please continue to share benchmarks from 2.5. We need a wide variety of systems to make this work.
For those unfamiliar with the benchmark, it's not entirely clear what each of the values mean, other than of course that higher is better.
For Mac users like me who disable Metal to improve stability, you'll need to enable Metal before running the benchmark or else the GPU scores will be blank.
[EDIT: table removed, see the updated table in the first post of this thread]

GaryLearnTech got a reaction from R C-R in Affinity Photo 2 Filling up my storage and running at a crawl.
If you're simply reading 18GB off your screenshot, then no, sorry, that is not the installed RAM. It will almost certainly be a multiple of 8: 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 48GB, etc.
That 18GB (18432MB) is an Affinity Photo setting for memory management. Unfortunately, the Help page, while explaining what it is, doesn't provide any guidance on choosing a suitable setting.
To find the actual RAM (memory) installed on your Mac, the easiest method is probably to go to the menu in the top left corner of your screen and select About This Mac.
As you can see from my screenshot below, I have 16GB RAM installed. However, the RAM Usage Limit setting can still go up to 65536MB (64GB).

GaryLearnTech got a reaction from foxleybob in Infinity Photo2 (free) question
The six month unrestricted free trial is a pretty good deal for potential users - and a pretty good marketing point too. I reckon that if they were locking in the current sale pricing, the marketing team would be trumpeting that just now as well - and I'm pretty sure they're not… There may more surprises like that in store for us in the future, but don't bet the farm on it right now.
As @walt.farrell and @Alfred both said, we have typically seen several sales each year: some short, some for longer periods - and various discount levels.
You pays your money try it free for up to 180 days and take your chances! 😀

Safe mode actually goes a little further than that - but all in the name of trouble-shooting. The key thing, perhaps, is that it will also clear system-level caches, which will be recreated on the next normal reboot. (You'd need to clear user-level caches manually or with a third party utility.)
Use safe mode on your Mac: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/116946
Definitely worth a shot if you've got odd things going on.

From the notes at the bottom of the page:
Can I use this 6 month trial if I’ve had a previous V1 or V2 trial?
Yes, we’ve reset our systems so everyone can try Affinity again, regardless of whether you've previously taken a trial of any of our products.

GaryLearnTech got a reaction from jmwellborn in Can I customize this interface?
You mean you're not part of the beta programme? Too bad. This DēLonghi/Affinity hybrid (the "Affiniti mk1") is currently limited to using the rotary button on the top to launch the suite all at once. However, I understand that the three buttons down the left will shortly be reprogrammable so that we can launch the individual apps as required, all while making the morning brew… DēLonghi engineers are experimenting with upgrade kits to allow suitably experienced customers to install additional buttons down the opposite side for advanced configuration. 😀

Looking good as a prototype, but not everyone drinks coffee! To cater for a wider market we need a companion for it (the “Affinitea mk1”).
