After recent update I noticed every-time I resize anything a weird letters on top of letter are appearing next to the cursor.

It should be showing the height while you drag but for some reason it is showing that info as some odd jumbled up text. There was another recent topic about someone else having a similar problem but I can't locate it at the moment.

A possible solution can be found in the following topic

The suggested solution doesn’t work with me. Maybe is because I have a Mac and the thread is based on Windows, anyway deleting the font doesn’t fix the problem.

What font do you mean? Have you deleted any fonts? Have you added any recently?

Also, have you tried running Font Book's validate fonts check to see if it shows any problems? (Tip: select every font in "All Fonts" to run the check on all of them at once. It can take a few minutes to do the checks so be patient.)

Thanks for the reminder. running it now. It is getting to that time where I should do a clean install of the OS and install everything fresh and new.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

On occasion I have done a Safe Boot or PRAM/NVRAM reset when it seemed likely to solve an issue. I also periodically review the apps I have installed & delete any that are obsolete or I no longer have a use for. But the "nuclear" clean install option has never fixed or improved anything on any of my Macs, just wasted a lot of time.

I frequently consult with Sensei to ensure my Mac is fully optimized. However, despite uninstalling all fonts and restarting my Mac, the issue still persists. In the past, when faced with a similar problem, I resorted to completely deleting the App and reinstalling it. Although this resolved the issue, it also resulted in the loss of all my settings. I hope to find a solution before reaching such an extreme measure.

There is nothing extreme about a Safe Boot. After doing a Safe Boot, simply restart again normally to return to the way everything was before doing that. it's only function is to load only essential kernel extensions and startup apps. This is useful for troubleshooting, nothing else.

PRAM/NVRAM reset only applies to Intel Macs so if you have an M series Silicon one it can't be done. But if you have an Intel model, it can cure certain problems, among them certain monitor display issues.

Regardless, note that neither of these things will do what the Font Book Validate check will show you about possible font corruption or damage.

Safe mode actually goes a little further than that - but all in the name of trouble-shooting.  The key thing, perhaps, is that it will also clear system-level caches, which will be recreated on the next normal reboot.  (You'd need to clear user-level caches manually or with a third party utility.)

Use safe mode on your Mac: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/116946

Definitely worth a shot if you've got odd things going on.

Did the Safe Boot help resolve the issue?

This is my primary work machine, so I can't perform extensive troubleshooting at the moment. I'll try to address the issue next Saturday and keep you updated. For now, the problem isn't hindering my work, so I can continue using it as is during the week.

Just keep in mind that a Safe Boot followed by a normal reboot should take no more than 5-10 minutes from start to finish, so for instance you could do the safe boot when you stop working for a meal or a rest break, & then restart normally when you return to your computer.

I have been using Macs since 1992, and let me tell you, 5 to 10 minutes can bring about numerous unexpected surprises. Therefore, I am not willing to take any risks at the moment. Allow me to recount a true story: the last time I attempted a safe boot, I found myself in an Apple Store, surrounded by three employees who were utterly perplexed as to why I couldn't access my Mac using my login information. It was quite the ordeal, I must say.

Amazing! I have never even heard of anyone else ever having problems with a safe boot -- as the name implies, it should be quite safe; in fact in most respects safer than any other diagnostic or troubleshooting step one can do on a Mac.

I have a few "amazing" things to share if you're interested in chatting about them in the future. From iCloud spontaneously deleting files to Apple apps refusing to update on their own OS version, the list is quite extensive, my friend.

Unrelated to computers. My late brother-in-law couldn't keep quartz watches working, at least if he wore them. Windup mechanical watches were no problem for him and the quartz watches would work for everyone else. He would put one on his wrist and in less than a day it would start gaining or losing significant time.

FWIW, if I was experiencing things like that, I would suspect things like hardware issues, malware infestations, conflicts with 3rd party add-ons, & such. In fact, I would not even trust using that Mac for anything important until it all got sorted out.

But that is just me.

From 1992 to 2024, none of those factors could have caused their malfunctions. If that were the case, I would have a Guinness World Record for 32 years of purchasing brand new, damaged computers from Apple! Take my advice and never blindly trust any computer. The bottom line is that machines can fail, and it's important to be aware of that.

The same thing happened with my wife and her kinetic watches. I purchased a pair for us, but for some mysterious reason, mine always works perfectly while hers consistently stop working and occasionally die out. We visited the Seiko store, and they couldn't identify any issues with her watch. In the end, they graciously provided her with a brand new one, but she still couldn't get it to function properly! However, when I simply took it in my hands, gave it a gentle shake, like a secret touch, it miraculously sprang back to life! It's truly puzzling, isn't it?
