  1. Publisher cannot currently open InDesign INDD files. There are plans to support the InDesign interchange IDML format in Publisher, but for now you would need to import a PDF version of the file.
  2. Sorry if you were not aware, but Serif sell the Affinity range as a license per operating system. If you own a license on Windows then you have to buy it again for use on macOS.
  3. Yes the workbook has been looked at carefully and each reprint includes a few tweaks and corrections pointed out by users over time. Reprint 5 is the most recent (6 weeks ago) and we have checked that the workbook is (still) suitable to be followed in version 1.7
  4. What do you expect this .PDF document to contain ? Keyboard shortcuts or something else?
  5. @DLopan Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums The "Next style" is not designed to do what you suggest. I has a specific meaning of "what happens when I am using this style and press the Enter Key (new Paragraph) In other words what Text style will automatically be applied after this paragraph style when used typing inside the program. It does not mean If I apply this style as an afterthought please apply the next style also. I hope this is clear. This behaviour is the same as Word for example has used in Text styles for a long time. Designed to ease typing from inside the application
  6. @mariaf Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums This sounds like it may be related to this thread where the user could not even create a new blank document without a crash. If you have the same problem as that user when opening any document or creating a new one, then perhaps your problem can be resolved in the same way
  7. Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums:) Buying without a discount, sure wait till this time next week. Buying via invoice, again sure email affinityorders@serif.com with your query and they will handle it
  8. @aclark Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums Affinity Photo on Mac has had 2 updates since 1.6.1, the latest being 1.7.1 announced here. At the bottom of that announcement post are instructions for getting the update from the Mac app store. If those instructions don't work uninstalling and reinstalling through the Mac app store can force the latest release. I would say that perhaps you aren't using the same iTunes account as you bought with or you should already see the updated version in the downloads section. Once you have both Affinity Photo builds on iPad and macOS on 1.7.x the compatibility message will go away.
  9. Even if you copy the license.xml file from application data (?) on your computer to the program folder on the USB? I'll check the details tomorrow
  10. thanks, this thread is in the Photo iPad section and many problems are unique to the platform, but that may help some here.
  11. @Iztok Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums Yes this is possible, but PDFs are really a viewing format, and do not include things like text styles or even text frames, though they can be guessed at on import. This thread is saying that INDD and IDML would give better quality import results than can be reasonably expected using PDF import.
  12. Nobody from Serif has suggested this as a solution, you are discussing this with other interested parties. Please do not spend money on our (non-transferable) Windows or macOS licenses currently available, unless you can use them yourself.
  13. @Sean P & @Jon P please take note of this potential problem and work around.
  14. My Expectation: Affinity Publisher StudioLink will work on any computer after you have plugged the USB in and run Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer from the USB once each. I think that on Windows the software already looks for license.xml in the program folder because that is how the network case work. Nothing is written to the registry by Affinity applications other than the install itself knowing where the files are. IF you copy the installed files from a hard drive to a USB it should just work on a different computer. This is not supported so we won't fix it if this doesn't work, but I expect/hope it will
  15. An employer who owns, controls or leases computers cannot put one license on all the computers he owns , controls or leases if it is for business use, [unless it is for one business person to use in that context, but that is pedantic].
  16. Sorry this is happening. We have not seen this much in Designer documents before, but have a hunch. We think that most likely only one layer will be problematic. You could Create a new document the same size as your first Copy and paste top level layers from one document into another. With each pasted layer try to save the new document At some point you should find one layer that (once pasted) will stop the new document from saving. Remove that problem layer from the new document and confirm it goes back to succesfully saving. Then copy all other remaining layers over to the new document and try saving again with the problem layer missing from the new document. If it turns out that only one layer was a corrupt, then recreate that layer in the new document. Please report back if this helped and what the layer was.
  17. @Kerch We do not allow another 10 days each time there is a patch, but normally we reset the trial flag between major upgrades, say 1.5 to 1.6 or 1.6 to 1.7. However it appears the 10 day trial flag was not reset for the 1.7.0 release (over a 1.6 trial). We expect to get the trial flag reset for any forthcoming 1.7.x updates. Consequently this should actually work in your favour. I expect you will be able to use Designer and Photo trials again as 1.7.2 builds will see your 1.7.1 trial as a 1.6.x trial (so ignore that and allow 10 days more). If you cannot wait for the release of 1.7.2 to try the trial, then I suggest you could buy a copy of Photo and Designer directly from the Affinity Store on a 14 day money-back basis
  18. That is unfortunate, sorry. If you email them to affinitysupport@serif.com for the attention of Patrick Connor I will remove the baseline grid from your designer documents for you. Alternatively you could download Publisher as a 10 day trial to remove them for yourself.
  19. This thread has been noted and I think has run it's course I am locking it. Please can all forum users avoid personal comments and speculation over motivation. Everyone here wants to improve the program and answer as best they can and for no other reason in my opinion.
  20. For you, there seems to be no need. I am personally please don't feel you need to buy software that you don't want, I would not have it any other way. [Other companies do not see it this way it would appear]
  21. I explained a while ago that this was unlikely to happen (in this thread above and here), but perhaps I should explain further why I think this is. The Affinity range has taken a radically different approach to software development than the legacy Plus range. Affinity software is a 100% shared codebase creating amazing possibilities in synergy between applications. The shared file format means that you can create your document in the most suitable application, but you can go on to perform extra tasks in whichever other application you own with no compromises. Because switching between applications could be a little unwieldly the Designer and Pixel personas are built into Publisher to achieve this switch smoothly. In the Plus range we shared many libraries in the code and so it was possible for all the applications to have lots of the features in common BUT each crucially application had it's own file format, and that your document was tied to using that application. Consequently, when a feature was developed (like cut-out studio) we tended to put it in every application we could because we could see how people with that sort of document would need to perform that task. With the Plus range file format non-interchangeable you could not just swap between applications at will, so shared features was essential. Remember also that the legacy Plus range software was priced accordingly for it's potential stand-aloneness. PagePlus X9 was £89.99 and PhotoPlus X8 was £79.99 and DrawPlus X8 was £79.99 (I believe). Affinity applications are priced at around half that of the Plus range, and so that should be considered when we suggest that for your workflow you personally may need more than one of them to perform tasks you were used to performing in a single application in the Plus range.
