I’m with you guys on this one… I’m kind of tired of OSX getting more and more bloated and locked down. Window though… just no. Ive moved to a raspberry Pi for day to day computing and use my iPad or wife’s iMac for any photo editing or vector work. Having used the raspberry Pi for long enough to get the feel for Linux, I would buy a better machine to run Linux if I could get Affinity products or the Adobe suite running. I’ll even buy AFD and AFP for the third time.

Modifier keys not great

Agreed. The modifiers still suck. -
Snapping problems and transform pane issues
dinoburner replied to dinoburner's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on iPad threads
I just downloaded the beta, here it is.... started with 200x200 box from the rectangle tool. Only happens when i’m swiping to change size. Now that the number input is working it scales correctly using that. I’m really glad to see the number input glitch should be fixed, that and the selection box disappearing when i’m doing cut outs are the bane of my existence. -

I’m having an issue with snapping where I have to select items I want to snap to before I move the actual object I want moved.... otherwise the object I’m moving doesn’t snap to anything. I also just noticed a weird glitch in the transform pane. The dimensions aren’t scaling at the same rate for x and y when it’s locked. Also so can you guys do something about the manual number input field bug. In certain tools like the transform pane I can’t get it to accept a manually inputted number, i’m forced to closed AP completely and loose any unsaved work.

That actually would work pretty nice. As long as the modifiers were double or triple the height of the icons this might work ok.

I've got to disagree, I've never had issues with this.

You're using the beta? And you didn't manually save or anything? This app has some bugs still so you've really got to be a little careful. When you back out to the library it saves the file, I always do this shortly after I've started working to make sure it actually starts the initial save because I've found that the autosave doesn't seem to kick in until I do this. I think this may be a glitch. If you're working on something for so long you should really go back to the library every once in a while to make sure it saves as well. This is still a very new app and it's not some simple little widget, it's a full fledged photo editor; there are going to be some bugs for a while.

Gotta keep in mind, the new iPad Pro's processor is on par with an intel i5. I got one and it's crazy powerful. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/a10x-is-a-monster.2049237/

I do mainly vector work not photo's, but I have one of the sony NEX cameras at home so I can maybe try for you in a few a days. I havent imported things from the camera at all yet to be honest and never worked in RAW, but I intend to start doing so. AP does have raw support but I'm not sure to what extent. A few people have been seeing some bugs shooting in RAW but affinity is really working on it. Hopefully some other people will give you better answers as well. As for the iPad, get the 12.9 if you're going too work with photos like this. So much more screen, so much better... Also, if you want to draw on it at all you really want the bigger screen.

Designer for iPad Pro 2
dinoburner replied to Ringers68's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
There's only one WWDC a year I thought? But god, this is the app I really want, not photo. I'm with you, I'm just a hobbyist so I don't need anything really stable. I bought the iPad after Photo got released for it with the intent of a fully ditching my laptop for travelling (I'm out of town a lot) but now I'm just not vectoring as much. AP is still the best vector app for iPad, but it's just not Designer. -
Image Quality
dinoburner replied to engrgroundzero's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Facebook might be compressing the image. My wife is a blogger and agrees that it appears Facebook compresses some images and that some images suffer and some don't. Try specifying "high resolution" or "high quality" on Facebook when you're importing them there. AP still has some bugs that need to be worked out, but if you export the image and it looks fine on your devices as JPEG but is ruined on Facebook, it's not AP screwing it up. -
I just noticed a glitch in the modifier keys... when I use the shape tool and hold the constrain modifier to draw a circle Photo then acts like I'm still holding down the shift key when I move on to other tools (or at least the move tool, haven't tried others). This seems to persist when I go back to the gallery and reopen the document, but I didn't try closing the app. I got it to stop by going back to the shape tool and tapping the constrain modifier.

Pen only mode (Apple Pen)
dinoburner replied to JensLundin's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on iPad
This is actually already a thing (mostly). It still allows you to pan and zoom with your fingers, but your fingers don't activate the tool. IMO this is a make or break feature, any graphics app that doesn't have this isn't worth using and I don't know how some people get by not using it. Its in the settings, I'll see if I can find it and screen shot it for you. EDIT: In the settings go to the "Tools" tab and turn on "Touch for gestures only"
