seabirdr Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Please see the gif. I have set the view quality to nearest neighbor. When I drag a solid rectangle, there is a noticeable delay. Computer hardware and operating system information: Affinity Designer 1.7.2.414
adirusf Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Hey seabirdr, This behavior happens when I have hundreds of shapes in the same document. If a rectangle moves into a newly created file it moves without delay, but the same rectangle copied into a multi-layered document notices that delay. Try to copy the same rectangle into a new file and that delay will not occur. It's odd to see that performance drops with the creation of multiple shapes. Usually I work in multiple documents for one document, so performance will not drop. But I'm sure that the Serif team will improve this area. Mark Ingram 1
seabirdr Posted July 2, 2019 Author Posted July 2, 2019 Hi adirusf, thank you for your attention to this issue. I know that when documents become complex, they can lead to performance degradation. But when I had performance problems today, i had only a few shapes in my document. After exploring, I found that the delay occurred because the appearance panel was turned on and set fills for a shape. As long as it existed, the document slowed down. When it was turned off, the delay was greatly relieved. Below I attach the GIF screen recording and the test file. performance problem.afdesign adirusf and carl123 2
carl123 Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Well spotted I can confirm on Windows 8.1 Noticeable lag when appearance panel is on screen, even with a simple shape with one simple fill seabirdr 1 To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. adirusf Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 I can confirm this too with Windows 10 17763 seabirdr 1
Mark Ingram Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Hi all, there's another thread that has identified the Appearance Panel as the culprit - and we've just put in a fix today for this, so expect it to be in the next available beta. Thanks. Chris J, af-user, seabirdr and 1 other 4
Rylek Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 Didint dev team said that speed changes in 1.7 are only for mac (using metal) and for windows are in development?
Uwe367 Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 I have this behavior in Version .404, but in the beta .420 it´s not. There it works fine for me. Have a nice day. Ich wünsche einen schönen Tag.
