PixelPest
Whatever you might think - it´s so essential that I guessed it´d be long time ago reported&fixed. Look above: drag shape on (TEXT) and not the symbol.
PixelPest
But the rectangle functions as a fill - and if you disable fill at the text object what do you expect to see then?

(BTW; At leat I´m making vector art just for more than 30 years now - so I clearly have no clue.) If you don´t see the difference in dragging I can´t help myself and I´m finished here. The same thing I see when I use an unfilled object type other than text. If this is still not clear to you, please download the 'fill vs no fill' file I attached to this earlier post & note the difference when using a stroked & unfilled cog object as the parent & using a stroked & unfilled text object for that. I'd expect to see the text become transparent and the box (filled) inside it. What would you expect to see? Quote I like turtles! Phil_rose
So it seems absolutely clear that the problem is indeed a bug. If you have text which has no fill but has an outline you cannot put anything inside it. The only way to make it work is the workaround of giving it a Phil with a 0% capacity and then putting the object inside it. This works but is annoying! Converting to curves didn't work for me either, strangely. You really think that would work since I can put inside a square or whatever. ScreenHunter 02.mp4 Quote I like turtles! Staff MEB Posted July 1, 2018 Staff Share Posted July 1, 2018 Hi Phil_rose, This is a bug in the program. For now, if you set the text object's fill opacity to zero as @PixelPest suggested you will get the output/result you are after. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Issue logged to be looked at.
