Chetram Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Hi Support team and all users, I have a problem when I export some large files then my system using 100% CPU Usage and Memory 8GB and my graphics card is also 4GB. System Hang and taking unlimited time to save files. I was creating a wall banner approx 16ft x 8ft. When I need to send sample image to my friends for review JPEG didn't save and system hang. I had sent mail to support but they were not able to solve this problem. So they suggest me to post it on forum. Please help what is the problem. Is it system problem or Affinity Photo software problem. Chetram Kumawat 22x8_wall_banner.afphoto Quote

emmrecs01 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Hi Chetram. Your image is (full-size) 79200 px x 28800 px, making a total size (assuming my maths is correct!) of 2,280,960,000 px! The export screen within AP says that the maximum size allowed within the jpg format is 65500 px. Small wonder that AP is unable to export it! Why do you need to export it full-size, even assuming that was possible? (Just to add, on my reasonably powerful machine, simply opening the Export screen and selecting .jpg for your image caused my computer to grind to a halt!) Staff MEB Posted February 5, 2018 Staff Posted February 5, 2018 Hi Chetram, Welcome to Affinity Forums Thanks for the file. You are exporting a huge image (16ft x 8ft) at 300 dpi. There's no need to use such an high DPI for a wall banner. Please check the print requirements for the file. Regarding exporting as a JPG/PNG to send for review you can scale the document down to 5% (for example) of the current size - just add *5% to the width's value and press Enter in the Export dialog - make sure the padlock icon is closed to keep the proportions of the image. The exported image should be big enough for review. telemax 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
v_kyr Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 The theoretical maximum of a jpeg image is 65.535 x 65.535 (width x height). So 4.294.836.225 px, any size above that is not a supported part of the jpeg standard. - The PNG format allows a theoretical 4.294.967.295 x 4.294.967.295 (width x height) and thus 1.8446744e+19 pixel size, though here any possible size limitations are also software implementation dependent. Further even if a software might support huge image sizes, it might take forever to load in such a huge file into systems with not enough RAM, due to heavy system swapping processes. telemax Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 MEB is right. There's no need to use such an high DPI for a wall banner. From what distance will you look at the banner?
