Hi jakezhang, welcome to the forum.

 

Got to say that the scratchy textures are spot on. How did you do it? As for your layers/blending modes, they are really effective at giving depth to the picture. Quite moody and textural. :)

 

As for shrinking images, did you mean dimensions or file size? If you meant file size, then my preferred technique is to export as a png/Jpg and reduce to 30% say.

Well, I see a city in the background and a green space towards the foreground - but I'm not sure what I see at the bottom yet?!? It's a really nice first piece and definitely gets you thinking and feeling :) Nice use of textures to enhance things too!

This concept reminds me of this great book by Molly Bang I totally recommend it!

As Matt says, I can see the city in the first one. I think the second must be about music? Very nice.
