Desktop mode on ipad.

Recommended Posts

Hello, I use my iPad a lot and therefore the Affinity suite. I really like it… simply because it works well.

Now, with version 2.4, we can finally export DXF files to Shapr3D (very practical).

However, I find it inconvenient that when using Affinity on a screen, the aspect ratio is locked to that of the iPad. Are you planning a “Desktop” mode where we could resize the Affinity window as we wish (similar to Shapr or even Amadine…)? That would be really useful, especially on a Studio Display!

Thanks !

I'm not sure I understand that comment. Can you explain further?

You can connect external displays to iPad, or extend Mac display to iPad and use it as trackpad.

This would be the macOS version running under macOS with the iPad as an external display; it would not be the iPad version of the app.

Unfortunately Affinity apps don’t fully support iPadOS’s Stage Manager… (yet?)

Yes please to contemporary and actual support for an external monitor as OP desires. I truly thought that Serif would fix this in one of the first updates of v2.x because it's so fundamentally necessary, and such a great advantage when having an iPad.

For the same reason, I don't really use my iPad Pro for Affinity Designer, but continuously discover good alternatives. It's a critical deficiency that Serif's competitors must love Serif for. Especially because we can't even be sure if it will come or arrive before 2030. It could determine whether one chooses Affinity or an iPad, if one is an Affinity user.

That would really be. For now it works well when we are only on the iPad...

I find the iPad a great creative tool (Production... it's something else in my opinion). It's like practical to have one machine... is not two.

(I see that the above review was published in October 2022. Maybe Stage Manager has been improved since then!)
