Shortcuts: Pinning a shortcut on Pinning?

Recommended Posts

Handy Pinning panel is listed in Studio/Text but it seems it does not exist in (exceptionally badly done) Shortcuts settings.

Anyone knows where did that little Pinning rascal go?

@Return Thank you for reply!

Wow, you have it!... see how it looks on my machine... (Mac, Sonoma)

The other thing is that you seem to have shortcutable studio presets... I can only see my first preset in this list.

@Aleksandar Kovač did you previously have a studio preset named layouting and have you since deleted it? Typically deleted studio presets will still show in the apps keyboard preferences until the app is restarted.

Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.

Yes, @Callum I did have this preset. I did not delete it, but it does not show up in Presets manager. App has been restarted a few times. Computer, too.

Additionally, I did have Typography, Graphics presets, too. But, I would only ever see the first one on the list of presets in shortcuts editor. :( Now I see @Return has all those presets showing up nicely in Shortcuts… And, what can I say, I am jealous.

Do other Mac users lack “Pinning” in Shortcuts editor, too?

Hi @Aleksandar Kovač,

There are discrepancies between the Windows and Mac versions which have been discussed previously though I've not been able to locate the thread yet...

On Mac there are duplicate entries in the Shortcut Preferences, all the old v1 Studio options appear twice in v2, once, incorrectly under Window > Studio and a second time under their own Studio option...

The only options that should appear under Window > Studio in v2 are as follows:

Add Preset...
Manage Studio Presets...
Show Left Studio
Show Right Studio
Hide Studio
Reset Studio

But all the Window Menu options from Assets down to Transform now appear both under Window > Studio > Assets through to Window > Studio > Transform as well as under Studio > Assets through to Studio > Transform...

On Mac, Pinning and Cross-References are missing from both shortcut menus...

The layout is correct on Windows but incorrect on Mac, e.g., Windows has the correct References >, Table > and Text > menus with their respective sub-menu items on Mac every menu and sub-menu option is incorrectly bundled under Studio >.

There are also a couple of discrepancies with the naming:

Menu | Shortcut

Anchors | Anchor
Quick FX | Effects
Hyperlinks | Hyperlink

Affinity Designer 2.4.2 | Affinity Photo 2.4.2 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.2
Affinity Designer  Beta 2.5.0 (2415) | Affinity Photo Beta 2.5.0 (2415) | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.5.0 (2415)

Affinity Designer 1.7.3 | Affinity Photo 1.7.3 | Affinity Publisher 1.10.8
MacBook Pro 16GB, macOS Monterey 12.7.4, Magic Mouse

Thank you @Hangman for affirmation and addition. I have also noticed these where plural and singular are used!

Here is another one here... Stock is missing from Designer Pixel persona's Studio and Window Shortcut editing lists...

Hi @Aleksandar Kovač,

No problem, to be honest, I've not checked every single menu option but a quick proofread should be all that's required by the Developers...

In addition to Stock, Appearance is also missing from Designer Pixel persona's Studio and Window Shortcut editing lists...

Affinity Designer 2.4.2 | Affinity Photo 2.4.2 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.2
Affinity Designer  Beta 2.5.0 (2415) | Affinity Photo Beta 2.5.0 (2415) | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.5.0 (2415)

Affinity Designer 1.7.3 | Affinity Photo 1.7.3 | Affinity Publisher 1.10.8

Are you sure Appearance exists at all in the Pixel Persona? It doesn't on Windows.

It does indeed appear on Mac and it works as expected though whether or not it should appear is a different matter bearing in mind it's not an option in Photo itself...

@walt.farrell, @Hangman Great catch!

On Mac, Appearance panel exists in pixel persona and works as intended.

However, as mentioned above, it is missing in shortcuts preferences list.

Yes.
But you can always add a custom shortcut via System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts → App Shortcuts.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

You can though this still needs to be logged as a bug as do all the duplicate and incorrect Studio > Shortcuts on Mac...
