Dimmo
A small bug in Designer artistic text tool, I often want to split one line of text into two if I write two or more words on one line highlight and cut the second word and then paste it underneath. Now when I highlight the second word with move tool it doesn't show the font family, now it I put the text tool at the end of the second word and hit delete the font family is now showing. Must be an invisible glyph or something. Would be nice to be able to divide two words into separate lines (Illustrator has a script to do it). MikeTO
I can't duplicate this on macOS so it must be Windows specific. It would be nice to see a screen recording of the issue, also with the Character and Paragraph panels visible to see if their fields are blank, too. walt.farrell
Also, please enable Text > Show Special Characters in the menu. Another screenshot like your first one with that option enabled would be useful, too, but I agree with Mike that a screen recording might show something important. From a quick test on Windows I don't see this happening, either. Odds are that you have a Return character at the end of the word "Designer" and that Return Character is a different font. This is the only way I can get the blank font family to appear as you showed in your screenshot. Dimmo
@walt.farrell here is another screen shot with special characters showing, it's not a big deal but does happen if I type the text it in or paste from outside Designer. I'll look a a screen recording when I get a chance. walt.farrell
MikeTO
It doesn't matter but note that you started " Designer" with a leading space, that's why there's a square symbol to its left with Show Special Characters on. carl123
It would matter if the leading space was in a different font to the main text. Then you could reproduce the issue the user is reporting We really need a sample Designer document uploaded to the forum Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Dimmo
@DWright here is a file showing both Typed directly into Designer and Cut & Pasted from Word, happens on all the fonts I have used, these are Metropolis for typed version and Calibri for pasted version. Old Bruce
@Dimmo When I open your Split Text file in Publisher I notice there are no end of line / section / text markers after the word Designer. Dimmo
@Old Bruce happens in both Designer and Publisher and if you select at the end of the word Designer with the Artistic text tool and hit delete the section marker appears and the font shows on the font box when selected with the move tool. Even if there is no Return character, a change of font at the end of the text (with no text typed in this font, just changing the font menu) will give this empty font menu when you select the frame or the whole line (including last non printing character). Select the main font again and it will be in order. Quote Affinity Suite 2.5 – Monterey 12.7.5 – MacBookPro 14" 2021 M1 Pro 16Go/1To I apologise for any approximations in my English.
