Colour Picker not working as it should (Photo & Designer)

Recommended Posts

Hey there, my new MacBook arrived a few days ago and I noticed that, unlike on Windows, the colour picker doesn't seem to pick colours outside of the canvas. Although it has Screen Recording permissions set, it simply picks white. The "preview" is fine, but it doesn't actually choose the colour.

I've attached a screen recording where I try to pick a colour outside of the canvas and inside of the canvas. Inside the canvas it works fine, outside the canvas it **always** returns white.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? My friend, a longer-time macOS user, is not experiencing this.

Just to be sure, you've both checked the permissions for the beta application? They would be separate from the permissions for the retail appliccation.

By the way, it seems to work fine on Windows, still, but it doesn't require the same kind of permissions as macOS requires.

Yes, the permissions are set fine as far as I'm aware. - I can confirm that on Windows it works as it should.

Likewise for Monterey...

Hi @Justin_Sijbolts

We are aware of an issue where the Colour Picker Tool no longer works outside of the canvas, we've passed along your example to the devs.

If you use the Colour Picker tool from the Colour Studio, you should still be able to pick a colour from outside the canvas.

Hi @EmT,

Neither the Colour Picker from the Colour Palette, Context Menu nor the Colour Picker from the Colour Chooser currently work in the v2.2.0 Beta, you only see white as the preview colour.

Hi @Hangman this is a slightly different issue on MacOS which has also already been passed over to the devs.

Hi @EmT,

The screen recording in the first post references the Colour Picker in the Colour Palette/Studio rather than the Colour Picker Tool in the tools palette which I believe is what you are referencing in your reply (three posts above this one).

My reply to your reply where you said "If you use the Colour Picker tool from the Colour Studio, you should still be able to pick a colour from outside the canvas" was referencing the OP, as in, the Colour Picker tool from the Colour Studio not working, assuming Colour Studio means the Colour Palette...

I think the posts have become a bit mixed up... but regardless if they've both been reported then all is good... :)
