Mitch R Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Hello, I believe I have found a bug involving the opacity dropdown menu in Affinity Designer 2.1.0. When using the opacity slider, things work as expected. When using the dropdown menu, however, the opacity percentage changes, but it has no effect on the actual object selected. When typing a value in for opacity, it usually works, but not always. This has been demonstrated in the attached video. I also included the file I used in the video, although this happens on all files both old and new. System Information: Bug occurs on Affinity Designer 2.1.0. It did not occur on previous versions. Windows 10, Version 21H2, Build 19044.2965 Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 64GB RAM Bug happens with hardware acceleration both on and off No unusual devices/drivers involved OpacityBugDemo.mp4 OpacityBugDemo.afdesign Quote OS: Windows 10 | CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT | RAM: 64GB
AlainP Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Same here, slider works fine, entering value with keyboard works, but drop down does not update the opacity of the object. If you click on the small circle on the slider opacity is then adjusted. But shortcuts (1 -2 -3 ... ) work fine Quote -- Window 11 - 32 gb - Intel I7 - 8700 - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 -- iPad Pro 2020 - 12,9 - 256 gb - Apple Pencil 2 -- iPad 9th gen 256 gb - Apple Pencil 1 -- Macbook Air 15" - Mac mini M2-Pro - 16 gb
GarryP Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 I can replicate this in Designer 2.1 on Windows 10. Dragging the slider with the mouse changes the opacity and sets the value in the field accordingly; Entering a value in the field changes the opacity and the slider is moved accordingly; Selecting an opacity from the drop-down with the mouse moves the slider accordingly but does not change the opacity. Note: The same issue is also evident with the Noise functionality in the same Panel. Quote
MickRose Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Same issue in Publisher, Designer & Photo on Windows Quote Windows 10 Pro, I5 3.3G PC 16G RAM
Mitch R Posted May 19, 2023 Author Posted May 19, 2023 I also just noticed that scrolling the mouse wheel over the percentage to change it in single-digit increments also no longer works. Quote OS: Windows 10 | CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT | RAM: 64GB
Staff NathanC Posted May 19, 2023 Staff Posted May 19, 2023 Hey all, Many thanks for the additional input and detail, I can confirm I've replicated this on Windows with the Opacity/Noise dropdown and scrolling and it has now been logged with the developers. Quote
oscarlosan Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Gentlemen, Automated testing. So they won't forget anything. Yes, I know they use them, but I would add that it is better to wait than to present software with errors. Ezbaze and Westerwälder 1 1 Quote
