I allways import my photos in Lightroom and do the first editing. Afterwards I send it to Affinity. It worked well in Affinity Photo V1 but not in the new version. This is really annoying.

I'm a 75 yr old "used to be tech savvy" guy trying to get to Affinity Photo 2 from Lightroom. I have read all of this string and anything else I can find on the subject but it's just too darned complicated. Will Affinity Photo 2 have a simple way (similar to Photo 1) to get to from Lightroom. Photo 2 is pretty useless to me without it.

The approach suggested in the second post of that FAQ is not complicated:

  1. download helper program
  2. point LR to the helper program.
  3. done.

If I understood it well, because Windows "knows" the path already (via environment variables) all @cid69 has to do is to paste "AffinityPhoto2.exe" (but without the quotes) in the LR place where he before used to put the V1 Photo location? I guess people is used to hit the  button "browse" and look for the executable, but this might be even easier.

But if that does not work, put then the entire thing : C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityPhoto2.exe     in that LR field.

That is, no " [ ] " symbols, just replace [USERNAME] with whatever is the user he  has in his Windows. For example, Cid69.  Or.. Robert, Harry, etc. Like :

C:\Users\Harry\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityPhoto2.exe

And that for some third party apps or cases it doesn't work well and then have to use  the AFlauncher, an utility made to be able to point to Photo for those exceptions. if I understood it right. And anyway, they are going to release a normal MSI installer in the future (I find it fine in any way, btw).

Did I get it right ?

Some apps make you browse. (I don't know about LR.)

And many seem to object to that form, too.

Thus, the helper app is needed more often than it should be.

Yep, I meant that even those that make you browse, pasting the path  (in the field for file name) in  the next dialog/window and hitting enter typically sends you back to the window with the browse button, with all ready to go (I do this often for many apps), so , imo should work in most cases.... But yep, for putting the name only, AffinityPhoto2.exe, that wouldn't work. Pasting  the full path tho is imo relatively simple, prolly easier than the launcher for the very non tech savvy.

Thank you for the accurate info!  I have not followed tightly several matters...

FWIW, I used Walt's bat file, for LR. Works fine for me. LR does not allow access/using the photo2.exe file.
