AMD Radeon GPU OpenCL poor perfomance

This group Amernime Zone is creating Radeon modded drivers (WHQL Microsoft Certified) that increase performance on new and old card models. Maybe Affinity Devs can contact them to find a solution on the OpenCL performance issue.

The AMD performance issue seems to be fixed or at least greatly improved with Version 2.1.

How do you know?

AMD emailed me again a few weeks ago asking if v2.1 fixed my issue, and Affinity reached out and is getting the same G14 laptop I'm using to do testing. I'm assuming they're working together because AMD wouldn't have known about the possible performance enhancement in 2.1 unless they spoke with the developers.

Radeon 6800XT looks like it finally have the score it should have.

Very nice. Not terribly far off from my 3080 from previous benches.

Edit: Current quickie just for comparisons

They've came out publicly and mentioned that they are working with AMD directly:

Hey, I'm curious about your Windows registry entries at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenCL\Vendors

Poor performance could be related to this.

The registry entry ...\OpenCL\Vendors does not exist for me. I assume you are using an AMD-based GPU? And the registry entry does not indicate how well or badly the OpenCL driver has been implemented.

Any updates about this improvement? I wonder if this also improves V1 performance. I have benchmark version 11021, and planning to upgrade my old nvidia GPU, trying to decide between nvidia vs amd. Is there anybody who could run it with AMD RX 5-7xxx series card?

This is what I get with GTX970 and v11021 benchmark (Affinity Photo 1.10.6.1665):

Raster (single gpu) 3623
Combined (single gpu) 4573

@thegary and @slizgi Could you please tell me which CPU you used for the benchmarks you posted in this thread? I'd like to add them to the benchmark table we're compiling over here. Thank you.

@MikeTO That was my old machine....Threadripper 1950x 64gb ram and 2080 super.

Windows 11 Pro, Ryzen 9 7950x, 64GB DDR5 6000mhz, Nvidia 4080 OC 16gb, Dell 38inch curved monitor.
