So the devs mentioned about implementing exporting webp in 2015, but still no signs of it.

How long can it take? Will it happen in our lifetime?

I have learned over the years (decades) that if a feature is not present in a piece of software I am best served by thinking it will never be added. I then immediatly search for a solution elsewhere rather than waiting and hoping.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

For sure! Finding the solution elsewhere is inevitable in a situation like this. But I believe that letting the developers know that a feature is wanted by people will hopefully motivate them to get that feature done sooner.

Considering that reading webp files already works, maybe using a little bit of inspiration from GIMP source code which does have this feature, I can't imagine this taking too long to implement.

I can imagine this feature would save a lot of time to a lot of people.

Back to using GIMP for now...

Thank you for that! It's great, that's actually an even better solution than GIMP. Also open source! More code inspiration for the devs :D

Until webp (and other formats like BMP) are supported by Affinity, one of the easiest ways to get them is to use Irfanview or XNConvert (both free). If you need to process a number of files, rather than converting them one at a time, just do a batch conversion.

It’s worth noting that IrfanView is only free for non-commercial (i.e. personal or educational) use. However, the licence fee was just ten euros the last time I checked.

Irfanview! The one piece of software that I have installed since Windows 95 times. Still use it every day, and it has excellent batch processing.

I love irfanview. I mostly use it as an image viewer though. Glad to hear that there's actually other people out there who love it as well, I don't think I actually know any people who use it.
