Copy/paste of layer FX

Recommended Posts

There should be an option to copy and paste layer effects 1:1, without any changes to parameters.

When copying and pasting layer effects, editor would change some parameters like sizes, offsets, blurs etc. Assuming it compensates layer size differences. When working on UI its very annoying to keep values in sync between layers.

An interesting idea which I can also see the benefits of.

I am wondering whether this functionality could be controlled by the existing “Scale with Object” setting in the Layer Effects Panel.
At present, when you use “Paste FX”, the effects are automatically scaled to fit the sizes of the layer(s) the effects are pasted to, no matter what the setting of “Scale with Object” is on those ‘recipient’ layers.
If the functionality of “Paste FX” was altered so that it took the “Scale with Object” setting for the ‘recipient’ layers into account then we could determine how this functionality worked on a layer-by-layer basis. And, since the “Scale with Object” setting was determined before the paste was actioned, the ‘recipient’ layers would already be set-up to be resized without scaling without any further user action.
It might also help with this if we could have an application-level setting as to whether “Scale with Object” for layer effects was set or unset for new layers (I think this has already been requested).

Note: I think this thread may need to be moved to the more-general “Affinity Suite” section of the forums as it’s not just for Designer on Desktop.

Still would love to be able to paste absolute fx values to other layers.

Show fx panel, select layers in Layers panel, enter values in fx panel, which will be set to fx selected layers. Although a bit cumbersome, but at least you can set identical fx parameters for several different objects.

Guys, years passed!

The object you are copying from will either have the option "Scale with Object" on or off in the FX dialog

Try the copy using both settings and you should get the result you need either way
