samojede
Roland
Old Bruce
I have sometimes had no obvious effect with the Shadows and Highlights in the Develop persona and it is just because of the type of lighting, exposure range and contrast in the particular image. Do you see this in a variety of images? I am on Mac.
As Old Bruce mentioned, it's often because of how the photo was exposed. Can you upload a file, with which you have problems. samojede
The Adjustment Panel Shadows and Highlights, controls the degree of exposure compensation, that is, how much the Shadows are brightened and the Highlights are darken, or darken the Shadows, brightened the Highlights. In addition, part of the midtones are taken into account when correcting the Shadows and Highlights. Unfortunately, there is no other option or slider in Affinity Photo, that further narrow the tonal range of the shadows and highlights, that fewer midtones are taken into account in the correction. carl123
Try the Live Shadows & Highlights filter in the Photo Persona where you can also control the "Range" Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
carl123
@ thomaso Yours look different to mine in the Photo Persona, do MACs not have the additional sliders or the 1.6 version drop down? thomaso
@carl123, I get the same offer on mac. – The difference in the screenshots comes from me showing above the Adjustment while yours are the Live Filter options. – But interesting anyway, how, and for what purpose, these three option panels differ in their offer. Especially the Develop Persona seems to be most limited this way by offering two sliders only – which appears even more odd. – 🦄 ? samojede
Kommt gleich! Posted June 13, 2019 Keine Ahnung warum oder wieso. Danke nochmal an alle. Blende21
****** IMHO in the Develop Persona the histogram should only be tuned so far that the further work with the picture is supported. This means to use the whole spread of the histogram, without clipping lights or shadows. Then develop. All further adaptions should be done in the Photo Persona, where more refined tools are available. If Live Filters are used there is even visual control on the monitor. Blende21
****** Concerning the post from 2019 (Link in the post above): With Windows I am lacking the experience. On the Mac, Affinity uses the MacOS Metal solution to employ all available GPUs. It works really fast (MacBookPro with integrated Intel-GPU and AMD VEGA 20).
