stewartvp Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 I have a number of Macros that I recorded in Affinity Photo to place files as watermarks that are still working. (export file attached). The problem I have now is that I want to record new macros as I have updated my watermark file, but when I do File>Place it is recorded as Set Text Stylesheet. When I try to execute the new recorded macro I have had two results Affinity Photo shuts down or the placed watermark is corrupted. I have also attached a video of my actions in Affinity Photo (the Group was a slip of the finger). Has anyone out there experienced this problem and more importantly solved it? The system I am using is a Lenovo Hybrid with 128gb SSD, 4GB RAM running Windows 10 Affinity_Photo_2020-01-30_00-18-53.mp4 Quote
GarryP Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 Unfortunately we can’t see all that you are doing as the menus and pop-ups were not recorded. (The Windows 10 Game Bar – if that’s what you used – doesn’t record pop-up or menus, as far as I know.) Would you be able to upload a different recording? Quote

stewartvp Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 Carl, How can I get on the beta program? Quote
markw Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Hello stewartvp, You can find the Windows Photo beta here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/34-photo-beta-on-windows/ Any owner of the retail version of Photo can install and try out the beta builds. But remember they are betas, so think twice before using them on important projects. stewartvp Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Mark, Thanx I just installed it and it seems the current Beta build still has the bug. I guess I will report it in that thread. Affinity_Photo_2020-01-30_13-47-30.mp4 Quote

Affinity_Photo_2020-01-30_13-47-30.mp4 For me using the latest beta (.532) it correctly records a File > Place command as "Add Image" in both the Macro panel and the History panel. In the released version both of these entries are incorrectly recorded as Set Text Stylesheet This screenshot is from the beta PS Cant get your video to work so cant comment on what you are seeing Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. stewartvp Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 Carl are you using the Windows version of the beta? I too have the beta latest version and the picture below is what I get. Quote

Staff Chris B Posted January 31, 2020 Staff Posted January 31, 2020 I initially reopened this as it seemed to still be affecting build .163 on macOS however, after a ctrl runup, it correctly logs the action as 'Add Image'. I wouldn't recommend doing a ctrl runup just to fix this though. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
stewartvp Posted February 2, 2020 Author Posted February 2, 2020 Chris, I should probably know this but what is ctrl runup? Quote

This is where you hold ctrl when you launch the app and click Clear to reset the app back to basics. However, this is destructive and you can lose customisation etc. A safer way to perform a reset is to back the folders up first as we can restore anything lost. If you purchased from the Mac App Store, follow these steps: Go to Macintosh HD\Users\username\Library\Containers\ Rename the ‘com.seriflabs.affinityphoto’ folder to ‘com.seriflabs.affinityphoto.old’ Start Photo If you purchased from the Affinity Store, follow these steps: Go to Macintosh HD\Users\username\Library\Application Support\ Rename the ‘Affinity Photo’ folder to ‘Affinity Photo Old’ Start Photo Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
stewartvp Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 Not sure I have a similar function in windows. Quote
walt.farrell Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 9 minutes ago, stewartvp said: Not sure I have a similar function in windows. You do. Hold Ctrl. Click on the name of the Affinity executable. Look at the taskbar, and when the Affinity icon shows up, click on it. Then once the dialog is showing, release Ctrl. To rename the folder instead of doing the Ctrl runup (which as Chris noted is a somewhat destructive action), and assuming you purchased directly from Serif: Press the Windows key and R. In the Run dialog box, type %Appdata%\Affinity\Photo and press OK. In the File Explorer window, rename the 1.0 folder to 1.0x (or some other name you like). Start Photo normally.
