eejits
Working on the iPad Pro and using the Apple Pencil seems to cause a huge amount of battery drain. Looking at the stats I had Affinity Designer on screen for 2hrs 20mins and lost over 65% of my battery life. is this normal or am I being pedantic? Staff Callum Posted November 20, 2019 Staff Share Posted November 20, 2019 Hi Eejits, We've never actually tested for battery drain specifically so I'm not certain if this is the expected behaviour. I'd think because of the pencils pressure settings combined with the app it would drain the battery fairly quickly however I'm not sure exactly. Hopefully other users will comment here soon with their average battery lives. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. keiththfc
For me battery drain seems especially noticable on the newest 1.8 version.
VectorVonDoom
I’ve noticed the same on my ipad pro and the latest version 1.10.1, it really eats through the battery. Not sure about previous version as I don’t use it very often, just too cumbersome but used it for a fairly simple project this time. I don’t think using the pencil or not makes much difference, it seems to regardless. I didn’t think it could but even in background it seems to be using battery, but that could be my imagination as I thought it would be suspended. Paul Mudditt
Pretty sure the battery issues are more to do with iPadOS15 than Serif. SandMagic
thanks for replying. if the only app I have open is affinity designer and the battery is draining much faster than if app wasn't open, then wouldn't the problem be with the app? No, it also depends what is going on in the background which is entirely in Apple's control. SandMagic 1 Quote My dad always told me, a bad workman always blames their tools….
