  1. As per title, I've found that when setting my own keyboard shortcuts the ( x ) button is covered by the scrollbar if I need to scroll to change/remove the conflicted shortcut. If I move out of the scrollbar area and wait a moment it goes away and I can click the ( x ) button but if I accidentally scroll (easy to do with the Mac's magic mouse) the scrollbar appears again. Below is a little screen capture I made of it in action - I think this could be solved by either moving the button to the left or putting some padding on the right side so it isn't covered by the scrollbar: Preferences.mov
  2. Affinity Publisher Tutorial on text wrapping suggests command W to hide grid lines. Command W just closes the file. Love the tutorials. They give just enough information at a time so I can go through one lesson at a time, then back up and easily find exactly what I need to review. Affinity.rtf
  3. Hi there, maybe I'm just blind, but I'm missing shortcut to jump to the next or previous brush in the brushes studio (suggestion: , and .). I'm also missing simple keyboard shortcuts for decreasing and increasing the brush hardness like the shortcuts [ and ] for the brush size. My suggestion would be Shift+[ and Shift+]. Greetz, Tekl
  4. I changed the following keyboard shortcuts: pan tool (View Tool) from V to Alt+X Move Tool from Z to Alt+Z ...and why don't you name these tools: Pan Tool and Arrow Tool? But in the Toolbar the old labels are shown
  5. Hi, I updated to version 1.6.4.104 and for a reason I don't know how to reproduce, keyboard shortcuts (AD and windows ones) stop working after about a minute ONLY in Designer (not windows). 1 - I quit and relaunched AD and the problem appears again about a minute later. I sometimes press the Windows key by mistake, if that helps. 2 - I reverted to AD 1.6.2.97 and there is no problem. So I keep 1.6.2.97 (french) and will wait for further versions, hoping that this bug is known and will be solved. If someone knows more about it... Cédric. 6. Could it be that Affinity Photo has a bug related to keyboard short cuts when used with the modifier key cmd and German umlauts? For the menu items to rotate the workplace by 15 degrees left, right or reset I defined cmd ö cmd ä and cmd ü (i.e. cmd + umlaut-key on German keyboard for o a u). A strange thing happened: In word-processing like MS Word or Apple’s Texteditor keyboard entries turned sluggish. Some would not show on the screen unless I pushed and held the key for some seconds. Then I got one of two effects. Either the letter suddenly showed up and was typed repeatedly or a popup menu showed up with special characters. When entering in Terminal.app defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled -bool false or set in sys-preferences keyboard „repeat of entries“ to „off“ it was fixed for a while but eventually came back. I finally decided to change the keyboard shortcuts in Photo to the number-keys 1 2 3 together with the modifier key ctrl. No problem anymore. Is it possible that Photo’s shortcut prefs call routines which work without problems as long as one uses cmd on a non-German keyboard layout without umlauts? I am using the Affinity Photo 1.6.7 with macOS Sierra on a MacBook Pro Mid 2012
  7. Holding down the shift key, then hitting the return key usually places a soft return on a Mac. Soft returns are nice to use whenever a line of text needs to drop, maintaining the overall paragraph styles of the previous lines.
  8. Hi, when entering any measurements using the numeric keypad, the "comma" key in the numbers block is not accepted as decimal separator for the numbers I enter -- it would be a great timesaver, if I didn't have to hover my hand over to type a "period" from the normal keyboard. Given that I am used to using the numeric keypad, this tiny change could save me HOURS every week (I usually type it in on the numeric keyboard, the decimal point doesn't get recognised, the shapes size is wrong and I have to start over again, using the period key ...).
  9. Hello Two major issues with affinity when coming from mac and adobe or word or excel or any other software out there: It would be really great if Serif could stick to standards here a bit more (and help users a real lot): It is really common that CMD+Enter does a new soft line break (no new paragraph), not CTRL+Enter - in all Software I know including all Web-Editors in CMSes It is also in the same way common, that OPTION scales from center and SHIFT limits scaling to contain proportions Using MS Office, Photoshop, InDesign and others I stumble every single day upon these differences when switching apps - please unstress my daily racing brain a bit! Thanks! Alex
  10. I’d love to see a keyboard cover for Mac users with all of the shortcuts on them, similar to some that they have for Photoshop and other applications.
  11. I really like affinity products, and have AP & AD installed on both my Mac and my iPad, but one thing is bugging me a lot: I can not set ANY shortcut key that includes a modifier in either AP or AD on my Mac! I have fiddled with the settings, unchecked ignore modifier, checked it, changed the language of the app... nothing seems to make any difference. If I want to add a shortcut like CMD + Shift * P for Place, it only registers the P The same thing happens when I try to add a shortcut to a character or paragraph style. This is extremely annoying as my workflow relies heavily on shortcuts, they same me a lot of time, but as it is now, I just cannot create the workflow I want in AP or AD. I really hope you can respond to this, as I reported the question before, but no one responded. My system is iMac 2011 with el Capitan
  12. Both Photo & Designer for iPad have Preference > Tools settings for "Nudge Distance" & "Modifier Nudge Distance," but all I could find in the help topics about that was this: I have figured out that the first works with the cursor keys on my Anker Bluetooth keyboard paired with my iPad, but no combination of its modifier keys works with the cursor keys to nudge anything by the modifier distance I have set in preferences. So what am I missing?
  13. Hi! Thank you very much for that grat app!! The dreams comes true! I know that it just has been presented and there is a lot os improvment stuff that other users are suggesting, so I also have some issues that could improve my (and, not only my, I hope) workflow! So there is 3 issues: 1: KEYBOARD SUPPORT: yeah, I am used to use the keyboard to make my workflow faster, so I am missing the basic combinations as Comand + C / Comand + V, key letters that allows to pass fast to an other tool and also Comand + D (duplicate) becasue when I work with smart duplicate and I want to repeat a lot of times some geometry it turns into very slow process. (The fisrt picture) Also I am missing the Comand + Z.. Shift + Comand + Z , etc. 2. BRUSHES IMPORT: I downloaded some brushes designed for desktop version of affinity designer and I wasn’t able to import them into the iPad version. I would like that it turns possible! 3. TRANSFORMATION TOOLS: I would like the the tranformation tools could be more precise! Like be able to set the center of rotation of some object (that it could be any part of canvas) or to be able to increase the size of some object exactly 50% more or 50% less. So I would like that the tranformation tools would be more similar to the Graphic tools (https://itunes.apple.com/es/app/graphic-for-ipad/id363317633?mt=8). (Second picture) Actualy, Graphic is amazing vector app for iPad and I was using them before the Affinity Designer but the most important advantage of the AD (there is a lot) is that this app is perffect for free / easy vector drawing and illustration when Graphic is more for technical stuff.
  14. hi there, I am amazed about the beautiful UI and the ease of use of this new app :) is there a way to set the opacity of the active layer by keyboard shortcuts? e.g. in photoshop you simply use the numberpad for this. thanks, rob
  15. When working in the Layers panel, I would love to be able to use the keyboard for certain operations like moving up and down in the layer tree with arrow key selecting layers by typing their names renaming a layer by hitting F2 moving layers up and down by hitting Ctrl+Up / Ctrl+Down (or Alt, maybe in combination with Shift) selecting layers by holding down the Shift key and using the arrow keys afterwards There might be more useful appliances for keyboard shortcuts.
  16. Hey, so my problem is, that i can't use my keyboard for any texts or shortcuts. I dont know what i exactly did that it stopped working but :'D oh god its probably a really dumb question buuuut I really need some help now :o (don't have a problem in affinity photo or any other program, its just the designer)
  17. Hi, everybody, first, I want to thank everybody at Affinity for their awesome work. I’m loving my Affinity Photo for iPad, especially when I’m on the go. The biggest thing I’m missing, however, are keyboard shortcuts. Especially these: Cmd, Shift, Alt and Ctrl for manipulating with objects. For example, really often I want to resize object from center holding Cmd key and I’m not able to do that. 10x faster move with Shift+Arrows Shortcuts for (Un)Grouping and other basic stuff Shortcuts to show/hide guides and grid Since many people use their iPad Pros with Smart Keyboard, it would be really nice to have this option. Are there any plans to implement shortcuts in future releases? Thank you.
  18. After a while in Designer, keyboard input for hotkeys (e.g. P, Ctrl+J, Ctrl+S) and Art/Frame text input do not work. Keys like Shift/Ctrl when transforming an object in the viewport still work, as well as zooming using Ctrl+Scroll, and property text input (e.g. names, transform values, brush size, etc.) still work. I've noticed that this is usually preceded by Designer freezing for a couple of seconds, and then once it resumes the issue starts. The issue can be fixed by restarting Designer, until it freezes again. Note that this issue only happens on this specific laptop and not on my Windows 10 and Windows 7 desktops. The issue has started recently - in the last one or two updates most likely. My specs: Windows 10 x64 Laptop Intel HD Graphics 620 & NVIDIA GeForce 940MX Intel i5 7200U Quad Core
  19. Does the iOS version of Affinity Photo support keyboard hotkeys? I use my IPAD Pro with a Logitech keyboard and would love to use CTRL-C and CTRL-V for copy/paste (they currently don't work). Thank you, Kevin
  20. Keyboard Short Cuts for IPad pro Only a day into Affinity Photo, so if i not seen the answer apologies. The Question simple, short cuts from blue tooth keyboard in Affinity can this be done ? On iPad Pro. Like say cmd key helped down on keyboard, browser options are now shown. Regards Rob
  21. Hi, I have just purchased and installed Affinity Photo on my iMac (I have also the iPad version), and in Preferences/Shortcuts there are only a few shortcuts. I do not find the shortcuts described in the Affinity Photo Workbook. Is it possible to download the shortcuts as described in the Workbook. Thanks. Christian.

    useful keyboard shortcuts

I may be coming 'late to the party', but I've found a couple things that have speeded up my workflow which I want to share. Sometimes I want to edit an object but I don't know what layer it is on. Thanks to Serif, I click on the object and then use Ctrl/Cmd + K and the layer becomes selected. Thanks to Carl Surry, I now can use Alt/Option + X to get Black and White. I took his other advice to customize my own shortcuts--although because my hands find Shift easier than Alt/Opt, I used Shift for a modifier key. Now I can create new a new layer or a new mask layer, or get to my most-used Live Filters directly from the keyboard.
  23. Hey guys, This is a bug I found some time ago, and it happens from time to time. Basically, at some point the shortcuts such as Ctrl+1, Ctrl+S, or even the Tab key won't work at all, or they won't work properly. For instance, the Tab key is supposed to make the layers and tools panels dissapear, but when this bug occurs, all it does is highlight the main menu buttons. Ctrl+S, or anything Ctrl+[something] stop working altogether.
  24. When I pull up the Grid and Snapping Axis Manager, the Show Grid checkbox is off but highlighted with a blue rectangle. If I then press the Space Bar to enable it (as is standard in macOS) nothing happens. If the checkbox is highlighted one should be able to 1) use the Tab key to move to the next control and 2) use the Space Bar to enable or disable the highlighted control. Currently, pressing the Tab key shows/hides the UI, which should not happen since the Grid and Snapping Axis Manager is the currently active panel. What happens is that focus changes from Grid and Snapping Axis Manager main art-board window. Additionally, if I press the keyboard shortcut to pull up the Grid and Snapping Axis Manager that works fine, but if I press it again to hide it, nothing happens. It would be nice if the same keyboard shortcut used to pull up the panels was used to close it if it's already open, like a toggle. Thanks for all you do.
  25. I couldn't find a way to set a keyboard shortcut for the following 'most used' blend modes Normal, Multiply, Overlay, Screen/Softlight Photoshop uses a Ctrl+ Shift+ a letter (M, S, F,)
