  1. Hi, how further is the Mac version with Macros/Library? I suppose the Win version is maybe in progress now. However.... Macros: At this moment I can see only few settings editable (opacity, blend mode), but it would be much better when we are able to modify all the parameters (curves, levels, colors...). Also the name of a layer as a parameter would be nice.... Library: I would prefer double click to run a macro from a library, otherwise I am always doing one click to display the macro, but it also already runs it. As mentioned, I suppose there will be surely done more work on this topic to 1.6. version as this seems only as a "quick to have" feature. Otherwise, thanks for this great SW, except Macros/Library I do like it so far :) Especially satisfied with the speed and responsivnes of the SW ;) Jindra
  2. Hi there, guys! I wish you all a great and a happy Year! I just came across with this video. It's a good speed/performance comparison -in some scenarios- between Affinity Photo and Adobe Photoshop. To me, it shows the good things Photo has to offfer and also some opportunities to make this an even better software; the developing team might find it interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AO_r-JX8fpE Best regards!
  3. In the following topic I discovered that there is not an option to turn off scrubby zoom (and therefore turn on marquee/area-based zoom) in the Windows version of AD as there is in the Mac version: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/32241-ad-features-request/?p=164936
  4. Hello, in the AD document settings dialog, the CMYK profiles displayed correctly, but: In the printer dialog panel no CYMK driver profiles are displayed. ( only RGB printer profiles displayed) All CYMK Printer Profiles .icc are available in the Windows path c:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color. In AP I imported the icc profiles for CMYK printers, but they do not appear in the printer dialog anyway. With Greetings from Frankfurt am Main / Germany, Pinnochio
  5. I bought Affinity Designer for Windows 10 recently, and was wondering if I can use the product key to also use it on my mac. Can I?
  6. I am experiencing a lot of lag in both Designer and Photo. My main machine is running Windows 10 on an i7 3770K, 16GB of RAM and an AMD 390X OC with 8GB VRAM. When comparing things like rotate, curve adjustment, scaling, perspective filter, etc. with Photoshop or Illustrator, I noticed a huge CPU spike on affinity to 100% together with some lagging fragments (squares in the selection that arent updated yet to the new configuration) while photoshop and illustrator could pull it off with smoother framerates as well as less CPU usage. It's like my 390X isn't used a lot in Affinity. This is really breaks my workflow when I am working with multiple layers or bigger documents and I can't work precise anymore. I wonder if I am the only one that notices this? Is there something wrong with my pc build or software configuration or is this just how Affinity is supposed to be working?
  7. Congratulations to the team who convinced so many users to give AP a try. Purchased immediately my own copy for windows after first viewing all the demo videos. What I like is the bunch of ideas which improve workflow so much compared to the most referenced PS product. Especially the multiple "merge file" operations are convincing (HDR,stacking, etc.). As there are tons of database and picture file administration tools it would be a nice "roundup" when the workflow: File viewer-->AP-->Merge to HDR or other would be supported by a functionality like "collect all open files to a merge list" and select from there. But in general I think it is a good procedure to not try to copy too much functionality from existing software products because the good ideas will get lost.
  8. I have run tests with the Flaming Pear plugins: Super Blade Pro, Flood, Glitterato, Lunar Cell and Solar Cell. Although they do not work correctly right out of the box, all but one of these Flaming Pear Plugins can be run successfully in the Windows version of Affinity Photo 1.5.0.45 with a workaround. 1. When run within Affinity Photo, the preview window for Flaming Pear plugins splits the image into irregular segments, making it useless for assessment of the way the rendering will look when sent back to AF. However, the preview can be made to render properly if the active layer in AF is selected with the Retangular Marquee Tool before calling the plugin. This works for Flood, Glitterato, Lunar Cell and Solar Cell because they are designed as global applications for a layer. However, Super Blade Pro is usually applied to a local selection; thus you're stuck with a hit-and-miss approach to finding your desired plugin setting for that app. 2. Each Flaming Pear plugin comes with a library of presets (in a subfolder for the preset) which can be randomized in the plugin control panel. You may have to manually point the plugin to the subfolder when this is first run.
  9. Hi, I've just bought Affinity Photo yesterday (mainly to jump off the Adobe subscription bandwagon). I'm considering to buy a new "laptop" - in quotes, because the Surface Book tingles my fancy by far the most. I'm peeking for the smalles model, the i5 with 128GB SSD (96GB free as I've seen in a electro market yesterday) with no dedicated GPU, but comes with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520. The display has a resolution of 3000x2000. I wonder if two things would work: - does Affinity Photo it scale nicely? I've heard about problems with Windows software who did not scale good. - does Affinity Photo use a dedicated GPU that much, that it would make no sense to buy such a device? I would wonder about the latter one as a lot of Apple MacBooks also come with integrated GPUs (even though, they do use the faster IRIS graphics). Maybe someone here uses a Surface Book with this configuration with Affinity Photo and could give me a hint. Many thanks in advance! Ciao Dennis
  10. HI I've been working at replicating photoshop workflow in affinity photo with great results..... The title says goodbye photoshop and I've never used photoshop but I've tried to do the same steps retouchers do in youtube for processing a photo, I never liked photoshop for its price and when I discovered affinity photo I got very excited because its great price and I wondered if I could do the same that people do in photoshop with this software. After one or two months, I think, yes I can do everything or almost....... Here one of my tests followed step by step..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QBPZ8rjQhE (Photoshop video that was being 'followed' in Affinity Photo) and the result:
  11. Hi I am wondering if you could add a match color filter or option somewhere for making composition faster when I add part of an image to other thanks.
  12. Hello, I've just started using Affinity Designer for Windows but I've run into a few issues that are quite puzzling (Note I'm coming from Photoshop / Illustrator). I've discovered that the eyedropper icon that appears in the fill area needs to be clicked and dragged to pick a color but is there not an easier way? I've made a gradient and I'd like to sample a color from another object but right now I need to select the handle for the color I want to change, use the eye dropper to select the color and then click the color to apply it. Is there not simpler way to do this? (i.e. not having to click+drag AND confirm my selection).
  13. Hi, I'm from Cambodia. I'm using Affinity Designer on my mac, and now I suggest my company buy it for me at work too. But I have a problem. It doesn't support Khmer font. When I use in Adobe software, it's ok? Please tell me anyway to fix it.
  14. We Windows users normally have to jump over hoops to produce symbols in our text, using the Alt key and the numbers keypad. However, this does not work in the AF beta. Holding down Alt and then typing 0169 should produce the copyright symbol -- © -- but both the Artistic Text tool and Frame Text tool produce a generic hollow rectangle shape instead.
  15. Hi all, I am trying to purchase a Windows version of Affinity Designer, but everytime I complete this process, it ends with "Error: Payment Card Declined". I meet all of the payment requirements (accepted cards/funds/etc.). Any help would be much appreciated, I am very eager to get my hands on a copy.
  16. I simply want to import a PDF file as shown below. I do not want to edit text, I only want it as an image. Is this possible? Can someone help me by telling me how it's done? PDF before import: PDF after import: Best regards!
  17. Hi everyone, I have a question, can i transfer Affinity Photo from Mac to Windows, because I purchased Affinity Photo for 50€ on my Mac, but now I'm working on a PC with Windows, so I would transfer the application, is that possible, and how does it work? Thanks! Hannes
  18. Hi, there are some minimum cpu specs for Affinity Photo? It runs well on atom x5?
  19. Hi all, I purchased Affinity Photo for both the Mac and Windows versions, as I have both a Mac and a PC (Surface Pro). On my Mac, I can rotate the photo by using the touch rotate gesture, but when I go to try it on the Windows version, it doesn't work. The Surface Pro is touch enabled, so I can pinch and zoom, move the canvas around, etc. Yet, for some reason, I cannot get the rotate canvas to work. Any ideas?? Thank you. Byron
  20. Hi how can I add personalized vignettes and non-destructive vignettes to a picture in affinity photo for windows?
  21. Hey, great Application (Affinity Photo) . I´m using it on an almost daily basis. But one thing is bothering me. Is there an option for seamlessly rotating the canvas? I just found the 90° Option. But it would come really handy if it was possible to rotate the canvas with a button and the mouse like in Photoshop (R + Mouse). When Painting Masks and so on this would really help, because of stroke directions. Thanks, Elmar
  22. I'm a new user for Affinity Photo. I've bought it today and started using it. My problem is that I can't find the text tool on the left bar along side with the brush and other tools. I found all the text editing dialogue but I can't type to begin with.
  23. Hi I've bought windows version and I am really happy with this program, but it has some problems the aplication stops suddently, it gave me a message telling me that affinity photo has stopped and closes, it happens when i am working with several or a lot of layers, fx or adjustments. (no more than 15 layers) the day after yestarday I just apllied and effect and the pc got very slow and a bluscreen appeard with a text like this: error storing or something so, I don't remember very well.... I think this software has problems with its performance, I think my pc is pretty good for working with it 'cause I can run modern games My pc: amd fx 8320 3.5ghz asus m5a99x evo r2.0 corsair 1600 4gb x 2 dual channel = 8gb XFX Radeon 7850 2gb dd black edition with last drivers seagate barracuda 1tb 7200 rpm all without overclock thanks for your help...... A final question......... can I post in spanish?
  24. Hello Affinity, just tried to install Affinity Photo on a PC with an AMD Opteron 180 CPU. This CPU is a 64 Bit CPU, nevertheless I can't install Affinity Photo because "no 64 Bit CPU was detected" Is there a known limitation with AMD processors? In the Q&A I could not find a hint... Thanks for your answer Regards, Holger
  25. By default the number keys set opacity - which is fine. BUT AD doesn't distinguish between the standard numbers and the numeric keypad, to which I'd really like to assign a bunch of other shortcuts. With 15 keys on the numpad, and at least 3 different modifiers, there are >45 keyboard shortcuts going to waste here! Also, under the current system, if I do set a numeric keypad numeral as a shortcut, it doesn't warn me that there is an existing clash with the opacity function... worst of both worlds! Thanks for your consideration.
