  1. Hi. Sorry for the stupid question. I don't understand the export settings in the manual. I need to explain simply how to setup export. I want to have full control when exporting. For example, I have two photos. For the first one, I need a 72dpi export. For the second one, I need a 350dpi export. How to easily set the dpi for export? Thanks MB
  2. Hi to the community I am looking for the place on the Mac where the presets of my studios (Publisher, Designer, Photo) are stored. Also I wonder if the StudioLink at Publisher in Designer / Photo mode can use the saved studio presets for the separate apps, too? Is it possible to import / export the studio presets as you can do this with the shortcuts? I am a little confused when it comes to the shortcuts-export/import and StudioLink: I have created a set of shortcuts in Designer, Photo and Publisher. Are the StudioLink-Shortcuts of Designer and Photo stored within the Publisher-export-file? Can one save the context-bar as a file? As it seams the custom layout is not saved within the studio preset. It would be great if Serif would make all these presets somehow exportable so one can reuse it on all the computers one have / at the agency. It is to tricky to go the "Application Support" subfolder and grab these files (strangely there is no Folder for Designer there). Thank you for any suggestion.
  3. Bicubic resampling is a good, universal resampling method and definitely should be made a default choice (or at least an option) in Affinity Photo. While we may found it in export window, next to more advanced Lanczos options, it seems logical to include it on a canvas level, in View Quality settings. Also it would be great to see it being added as an option in Designer and Publisher as well for the sake of consistency. As of now, in all three apps, we're limited to use Bilinear which doesn't provide the same level of visual quality and details precision especially while zooming in and out, resizing objects.
  4. Hi all i have a big problem i was a AI and PS user for a long time and now with the 1.9 update AFFINITY DESIGNER uses ALT + SCROL to rotate the Canvas(Project) I used AutoHotKey to remap ALT=CTRL but is messy and can't remove curve points when creating a curved shape I want to ask you guys if there is a way to remap : CTRL+scroll wheel ALT+scroll wheel SHIFT+scroll wheel
  5. Hello dere, chér … mais, me, I almost did not saw you dere, but I'm glad for you to see me yeah, I tol’ you dat f’true. Now, what I got to ax is mebbe a simple quextion but me, meh, I do not know dem answer no, me. Oh. What it IS, you aks? Well, I'm glad for you to axe me dat, so … When I use either the Artistic text tool or the Frame text tools, I begin by selecting one, then drawing out a rough-sized text box to put text in. That's when the problem crops up. The BACKGROUND is filled with white and the text is default black. I have no problem with black text, ’cos it's gonna be changed later anyway. The Big Quextion is as follows: How I got rid of dem WHITE BACKGROUND FILL BOX COLOR, hanh? Looking thru the Menu choices produces no clue as to Remove Paper Color, Remove Background Color, or anything else. It has not always been this way - and it happens in Designer and Photo, not just one. Ma chérs, if you know you dem Answer about how to done got rid of dem white Background coleur from dem tex box, I be Returnally Greatfull fo’ dat knowlidge. T’anks in advance fo’ you assist wit’ dis quextion.
  6. This is a general issue on the three apps from Affinity, maybe not a bug but a "not a feature" but is a nasty issue. When you change a setting in a pane, on most cases, you can't use tab key to go to next field. Yes, it works good on the color mixer, but don't work in almost any other panel. You change a field, and the next tab is interpreted as a regular tab instead of going to the next field. That means than most of the time I end with the studios hidden because tab hide it instead of going to next field. Is the only set of apps I know that doesn't let you navigate fields using tab key and forcing to make a click in each field that you need to modify. I don't know why, because the color mixer works well, so it is clear that is feasible feature. Only other exception is in dialogs, that works because you are on a window and can't go anywhere until you close it.
  7. Hi, one thing I miss in Affinity is that affinity remember my last action settings in the document. Ex. when I do an export the core settings are displayed every time, even though I normally will export with the same settings each time. Which force me to do the same change over and over again, which is sort of annoying. Hope you'll fix that.
  8. Description In Indesign, you can apply any character or paragraph style and setting to text through a search box (set to ctrl+Enter). This allows for making text bold, align it vertically, horizontally, insert text variables (date of creation/ last save), etc. Note that this is not exclusive to text, and could also be used to alter the appearance of frames and more. Additional options The search window has a checkbox which filters the search results based on categories. These filters are persistant, and will be applied through each subsequent search. Advantages The advantage hereof is that if you work on a book with 10+ character and paragraph styles each (some of which are nested), it can become difficult to memorise keyboard shortcut assignments to each of the styles (especially when there are multiple large projects). The idea here is that, if the styles are named according to a convention, you will only have to type (a part of) the name of the style, hit enter and it is applied to the selected text or text frame. Since it can be used to execute menu items it reduces shortcuts that need to be memorised (and can be forgotten). It is rather quick, as you don't need to search through the application, but instead just type in what you require, which could take as little as a few characters. When typing text, it does not break the flow of typing.
  9. Having spent a lot of time customising the interface and keyboard shortcuts for Affinity Photo and Designer, I don't want to redo all this work in Publisher. Instead, I would love to see Publisher synchronise the settings from both apps (this should be a checkbox within the keyboard shortcut interface so people can opt not to), thus loading in studio presets and keyboard shortcuts. Synchronising keyboard shortcuts and the like also circumvents discrepancies between the apps where, if I modify a few hotkeys, I have to take into account that this also needs to be changed the other app.
  10. Can you please add the functionality to remember the last "area" settings used on the export panel? 3/4 of the time I'm going to be using the "selection without background" setting, and it's a pain to have to select that option each time I export something new. See image below for more context:
  11. Hi, I tried to find solution but couldnt. For other tools you can go to Edit > Defaults > Save - for selection tool it doesnt work I want to have default settings for Refine - not have to manually change it each time and switch off that weird "matte edges" option (who even uses that) Is there a way to have default setting for Refine Selection tool? Same as per my photo?
  12. Hi I would like to have those two settings "by default" for each new documents from presets (or not)… (see screenshots below) I cannot find how ? Can I edit the existing default presets or should I create new ones ? It also seems that sometimes those settings are changing without no reason… I would be nice to have a common synced setting for all three apps (with the colour profile setting of course) Thanks a lot ! (Mac OSX HS 10.13.6 / AF 1.10.1)
  13. When I print any file I need to keep the print settings embedded in it, so that in future I can print exactly the same image at the same media settings on the same paper at the same size. Photoshop embeds this information within the file, so that whatever device I print from, years hence it will remain the same. This is vital for limited edition prints and for all my client's work when they reorder prints. I cannot go back through files twenty years old and recreate this without the data being embedded. I don't think this would be difficult to achieve and I see that users of Publisher have asked for the same feature. Please may we have it so that I can stop giving money to Adobe for their overpriced, bloated cash-cow.
  14. I just purchased a Mac Mini M1 computer. I'd like to know if I should change the Affinity Photo performance settings in the preferences, specifically the RAM usage limit and the disk usage warning. I think they're set to the defaults -- 56320 MB for the RAM usage and 32768 MB for the disk usage warning. My ancient 2014 Mini struggled to keep up with AP so I'm looking forward to a much faster performance on the M1 but I'm wondering if adjusting these settings would make a difference. Thanks for any advice.
  15. Hello, I've been trying to export some documents for use on Adobe Illustrator, and one of the issues I'm encountering is the fact that all gradients are rasterized once the PDF file is opened on Illustrator. (The gradient is not rasterized whe I open it on Inkscape however, I can still edit it there) The thing is, just yesterday I tested some PDF export settings in Designer and actually managed to export editable gradients for illustrator, but I don't know if I didn't save those settings properly, but I cannot replicate this again. I don't have any files to attach, but I will continue to test the PDF settings. Please if anyone has an easier solution it'd be gratly appreciated!!
  16. Hi all! I played around with the page spread function in the document setup (it was on spread, I changed it to single and then back to spread again) and now I completely destroyed my document 😧 The content pages are back to spread view but the master pages are not and that messed with the content pages who have the master applied. The two single pages are the masters and the double page are content with the masters applied before I switched things round. I now also cannot apply a master double-age at once and have to apply a two single masters each in order to get the double page I want. Does anyone know a fix to this? It worked completely fine before I changed the settings around... Thanks in advance!
  17. Hi Serif! I'm Maurizio, and I'm a graphic and comics student from Rome. I'm having trouble with the iPad version of Designer and Photo. I have a 2nd generation iPad Pro (10.5) with iPadOS 14.5. In the iPad Settings section I saw that Designer and Photos take up a lot of space, especially Designer which takes up more or less 74 GB. Although I have closed some documents and deleted some history, it seems that this indirectly increased the space occupied by the app. Before deleting some documents, the space occupied by Affinity Designer was about 55 GB. How can I reduce it? And how can I see more information about the documents open within the program? I can only see the size of a document when I save it as a file (.afdesign or .afphoto) and only on the Files app, but I'm not sure it's the same size as an "open document" within the program. There is also the cache of the edit history (which will be deleted once the document is saved) to be considered in the space occupied. It’s frustrating not being able to fully and directly view and modify all document information within the app. It would be really interesting to see this feature in a new update! Thanks for your attention, I wish you the best! Keep it up and have a nice day! Maurizio
  18. Which PDF setting renders body type the best? I regularly produce a 26 page brochure using Affinity Publisher. NONE of the AP PDF settings would render really crisp small type. The closest I got to an acceptable result was creating my own custom settings with No Downsampling. It is acceptable, but not really crisp (see the page sample I have attached to this question). I hate to say it, but the PDF renderings I used to get with InDesign were always crisp. I think that is because InDesign PDF's included a setting option to "Include All Fonts". What can I do to make sure all fonts are included with my AP PDF's? Is there something I am not understanding? Can anyone help me please? — FYI, I am using a MacBook Pro with 27" Apple display. 19. Hi, Is there a way (setting) to disable the spine / centre line in spreads? Also, disabling the hairline around the edge of pages / spreads? Thanks,
  20. I changed the UI elements style to Dark, got the message it needed restart, agreed. The app hung, then crashed. See the crash report. Affinity Designer_2021-02-06-065736.crash
  21. Hello, I want to create a macro that applies the Mirror filter to an image in steps of 1 degree and saves out each angle from 1 to 360 degrees as a numbered image file. 1. The angle setting in a macro appears as rad not degrees, how do I change to degrees? 2. Is it possible to run a macro as a loop, increasing the mirror angle by one degree or 0.0174533rad per iteration? Thanks
  22. Hello Everyone Hello Team I think it is time to think about bring an internal tool/function that will allow users to backup their full #Designer #Photo #Publisher profile and restore that full backup when needed. I mean, it often happened to me (and I guess to many) to be called on reinstalling my PC (windows actually) and find out I have to redo everything from the very beginning and considering my personal collection of assets, brushes, palettes etc. have i'm an unexpected way over the years ... I'm spending an hour or more to make everything work as expected or just be back like on my previous setup and this goes also for tab/studio alignment etc Really it's something different which is need to make this happen and former Adobe products will agree with that it's just painful to set everything back to the right place we want them. if in any case this was asked or there is an existing topics on this already please admins, feel free to move this in there as I personally couldn't find where to insert this and chosed to create a new topic. Hope this will happen at some stages and make a lot of people happy. Blessings !
  23. Hi. It would be great if you added the setting "the default folder to export is the current image folder". Please.
  24. Hey there, I always forget to check the "Save History File with Document" after creating a new one. I understand, that not everybody wants to save the history by default, because it would make a lot of files a lot larger (I guess so?). But for others it would be nice to have a Checkbox in the (User-)Settings to get the history saved with the document by default when saving a document. Perhaps it would even be possible, to have a "per document"-exception-setting. Greetings, Johannes
  25. Most (if not all) RAW processing software I have worked with so far have ways to remember settings and later continue the RAW processing with these settings or perform adjustments to these settings if the final outcome (e.g. final JPG image) proved to be not perfect. There are two aspects here which imho need improvement to make this iterating process less frustrating: 1. Saving photo-specific RAW settings (e.g. to sidecar files) Currently Affinity Photo has only one rather cumbersome way to achieve this: You have to create a Preset for each tab where you changed settings and if you re-open the RAW file later you have to load all these presets again. (Affinity Photo shows them selected, but this is irritating since they have not actually been applied. Only after switching to another preset and then back are the changes taking effect. - A small bug I'd say.) Most other RAW processing software either automatically stores or optionally allows to store a small sidecar file together with the (unaltered) RAW file so that if the RAW is later opened again, the user can continue where it left off. An alternative is Affinity keeping an internal database about the settings of each RAW file, but this approach usually fails if images are moved to a different folder or archived (which happens to all my images after processing) and Affinity doesn't know about this. 2. Allow switching back to real RAW processing from Photo persona Also when I developed a photo and then switched back to the Develop persona (without doing any edits inbetween, I should note), I found myself not editing the original RAW file, but applying further edits on the already processed image. This was a big disappointment, as it defies the benefits of working on the RAW file. This means for example that If I found out I applied too strong noise reduction or too strong highlights clipping then switching to Develop again does not help, because what is lost in the developed image cannot be recovered. Please offer the user an easy possibility to apply changes to the originally processed image afterwards. (Which means, that the application must remember the RAW settings at the time the image was last developed). Matthias
