  1. After messing with photography, editing and a little bit of design work I finally got AD and I absolutely love it. I do a lot of marketing and design stuff for my band but there's a certain limit to what I can do before I have to source it out. I'm slowly finding my bearings and am looking forward to learning more and developing in the realm of an amateur graphic designer. Here's a couple of simple ones I recently did just to get a hand of a few techniques. Comments and criticism welcome!

  5. I made some LUT adjustments for AD and AP which I'd like to share with you. the attached Affinity file features embedded documents so that you can easily preview the effect of all curves on a single photo and then choose a curve that fits best/ gives you a good starting point/ idea. You can add them to your AP though opening the document, selecting each group, selecting the "LUT" adj, so that it's panel opens up, click "add preset". (I've made a feature request to make that easier) You can then access them by the "view > studio > adjustments" panel which is active by default (only available in AP) please don't overdo it :) blend modes, opacity and blend ranges can, and should be adjusted upon your needs :) for more information about such techniques you can have a look over here https://affinity.ser...er-amateur-pro/ LINK https://www.dropbox.com/s/wu96yk0j03kb0h0/MBd%201LUT.zip?dl=0 I really like the "Technicolor" one :) PS: similar presets for the "channel mixer" are available here PS: similar presets vor curves are available here
  6. Hi all, I am new to Affinity Photo, has anyone got any advice on how I can Make my cad visuals attached look more realistic with this software, what would I use to make adjustments? Thank you in advance.
  7. Hello guys! ;) Well, I'm in love with Affinity Designer and I'm also a columnist for the "Design Conceitual (DCon)" site. I create my first article on the DCon site, speaking of Affinity Designer. Your opinion is very important to me, I will be very happy. http://designconceitual.com.br/2017/03/24/affinity-designer-novo-tempo/ Note: The text is in Portuguese-Brazil. Ps.: Sorry for English, I'm speak a more less :P Big hug. Deivid Tavares :D
  8. Hi, I'm not sure if anyone will read this request, because there are so many in this forum. I´d like to see the possibility to create an artwork over several artboards (instead of slicing) for commercial print. I use it in Illustrator for large banners with best control over the pages side by side, with all the necessary marks on it. Will such a feature be possible in later versions? If so, AD will be the one and only. :)
  9. Hi there friends, As a couple of you may know Im new to all this world of design and illustration. I´ve been using AD since I started, only use Illustrator for a couple of things that are not available (yet) in AD. I´ve been looking for this on the web, maybe I haven´t look for it well, but what better place to ask than in Affinity forums. The things is I have a web design. All my pages, or my one page web site. How do I put it on the web to work properly? I don´t know how to do it, can someone please help me. Thanks in advance.
  10. Based on https://material.io/guidelines/style/color.htmlI created swatches for Affinity with all Material Design colors, properly named nad sorted. Enjoy Material.zip
  11. Hi, this semester I used for the first time Designer for my final presentation posters in university. The site plan and the sections are drawn with Vectorworks (CAD software) and exportet as PDF for Designer. I was delighted how easy it was to adjust colors and line width of the vector parts and just switch to pixel persona for some nice background textures. I used Photo to add the diffuse fade out on the edges of the site plan. I handled the drawings as individual files and embeded them directly into the final layout file. Only the site plan was to heavy to handle for my late 2011 MPB and so i had to export and embend it as a tiff file. Maybe the size (DIN A0@300dpi) and the live blur filter could be an explanation for this ;) Feedback welcome! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13340316/RundgangAffinity.pdf(~34mb)
  12. Hi there, I'm quit a newbee with Afiinity Designer. I love the software program and how easier it is compared to Adobe Illustrator. I have a question. I made a business card for myself that i want to be printed out in CMYK or PMS colors. I have included an example how it will be. 1) The color in picture A is a bright neon color, this is how i love it to be in a printed form. But this was made in RGB/8 . I know if you want something to be printed professionally that it has to be made in CMYK. 2) The color in picture B is the same design, but with the colors converted to CMYK. It hasn't the same effect as the one in RGB. Less brighter. How can i have the same bright color from the RGB version in a CMYK or Pantone version so that i can be send to a professional printing office. Could you please show me in a few simple steps how i can achieve this? :) Thank you in advance. Visitekaartjes Four Four RGB - front 2017.afdesign Visitekaartjes Four Four CMYK - front 2017.afdesign

  15. Hello everyone! First post in the forums, so here's a little introduction/explanation first: I've been looking for a good alternative to Illustrator (which I use in my daily job) for my freelance work and came across Affinity Designer. I lurked through the forums a bit, saw the introductory video about a hundred times and eventually when Illustrator abolished my last nerve and obliterated any pieces of patience I had left, I knew - Affinity Designer will be the software I use! I thought it would be a cool idea to try and record my first project with the program and share it with the community. It's nothing special, mostly shapes and gradients, but I had to start somewhere, so here goes: A video of the process: https://youtu.be/QlpYsvdkpEY The photo of the t-shirt guy is from unsplash.com. Thanks for having a look!
  16. I decided to create visual journal to keep things organized. Due to work, i won't be able to post regularly. But i will try to keep things organized here. You can check out my Dribbble account to see my work. I haven't started posting work on Dribbble using AD yet as i got the software for 2 days only. But i would soon. You can also checkout out my DeviantArt account where i upload the source file of the design if you are interested in downloading the files and examining.
  17. HI guys, the is my first work made with AD, normally I use AI (Mac) and CorelDraw (depends on the job). vectors only, AD is a nice App!
  18. Hi, I've been using Affinity now for two professional projects and it's good. I noticed there are a few panels which can be consolidated to use the same template as the layers panel, this would lower the API surface area and improve maintainability over time. Just my 2 cents.
  19. Hello everybody, As i said in my introduction, i am a simple hobbyistn self-learner and i like the world of graphic design. i have discover Affinity Designer in the release of the first beta version for windows..what a great software ;) And, of course, i bought it the first day of the final release, prevent me from taking subscription to Ad..e ;) So, i know as i am not a professional , my job is under the quality of the professionals but i want to learn, to learn , to learn. So, here it is ( and sorry for my bad English ) : 1 - My personal logo, just for laughing , the background is done with Houdini : 2 - A print-style poster ( just for me ) , the sentence is "Take the Stairs ! " and " Burn calories and not Carbon" ;-) 3 - A print style poster ( just for me ) of what i think from Bayer/Monsanto lol : 4 - A flyers in A5 for "Le paradis infernal" musical, ( very good amateur singers ),'print): 5 - A rollup for "Le paradis infernal" musical , big-size (print) : 6 - A little booklet for people who came to see the show "Le paradis infernal" musical ( print) : ( re size for posting here ) 7 - 2 pages from the 16 pages booklet for " Le paradis inferna" musical ( cd+dvd boxset) (print) : 8- This is the rollup printed : And a cd cover, dvd I and II etc . So let me think what you think about it please, All the very best, David
  20. Working on a redesign of an app in my company, and I wanted to experiment with Affinity Designer. Having had worked with both Sketch, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, Affinity was the right amount of "strange" I needed. Right between Ps and Ai, with bits of Sketch, it's exactly what I need. I got accustomed to the snapping, and it's a joy to do UI design with it. Especially with Artboards. Very very easy. I'm a bit miffed with the occasional crashes from various sources, but those are going to be history once the beta goes MP and gets released. I've also tested Flinto, Pixate and Principle in parallell with Affinity Designer, and I settled on Principle. Flinto is simply too primitive and has issues with element positioning. Quite the odd UX they got. not a fan. Pixate is a bit complicated and just doesn't cut it in terms of more complicated stuff. Having said that, Principle is still not the best, lacking timelined animation & interaction. What I wanted to see was something along the lines of After Effects Timeline animation but for individual elements, adjustable timeline lenght, etc. I would've wanted to be able to stopwatch parameters of properties and be able to change them (create keyframes in the process). Alas, no. The principle phone client is really primitive. No wireless sharing, you have to be connected. Eugh ! Unfortunately I cannot give more info about the project, nor can I post more screens, because I'd then be in deep trouble. Cheers.
  21. After working with AD to export stuff for a mobile app, I came to the conclusion this would be a must. It's really difficult to navigate between lots of different things and not be able to organize them, and so it would be cool to have: 1. Layer/Export item color coding (like ps) 2. Export item grouping, to keep things tidy. setting a "Path" variable on this could be cool because it would allow for all items in this group to be exported in the path specified in the variable, without having to resort to "funky naming" like "mainfolder/subfolder"
  22. Hello, guys. i really love cactuses. So i deside to illustrate it, i hope you like it feel free to comment.
