It would be good to have a graduated brightness adjustment. For example, I have a photograph of a group of people on a staircase taken with flash. Those at the bottom of the staircase are, of course, brighter than those at the top. It would be good to use a brightness or levels adjustment to compensate for the gradual loss of brightness the further up the staircase you go.

I have read many threads on this topic but cannot find what I am looking for. For example, in my architecture work I want to simply use layers in luminosity mode and brush in the luminance (brightness) of a window layer. This is quite common in PS and ON 1 Photo Raw. However, when using this work flow on Affinity 1.7.3 the luminance (brightness) of the layer I am blending in actually produces the color of the layer and not the brightness. So for example if the window I am blending in has some yellow color cast the yellow appears in the blended layer instead of just a brightness. This is true for shadows that are blended in also. Can anyone tell me if I need to use a different blend mode to achieve brightness or shadows without a color cast or is there something additional needed in the luminosity blend mode to achieve brightness/shadows without a color cast.

HI All, I have already seen the thread - But it does not seem to help me. I am using 1.7.2.471 version of Affinity and Windows 10 (Surface Book First Version). And the second copy is how it looks in default Windows Photos Raw viewer. Please help me what is wrong with this as, I used a batch processing on my RAW photos and they seem to look completely different if I try to do it one photo at a time. Thanks

Visual bug when developing a photo on Dual Monitor
RE4LLY posted a topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
I came across a visual bug that happens every time I work with both of my monitors. I have two views open, one floated on my second screen and one docked on my main screen, while I work in the Development Persona with a .nef file and everything is fine. But when I then develop the picture one view gets brighter than the other(see reference images) which must be a visual bug as the picture itself is not changing its properties. This sometimes happens on my second screen but also sometims on my main monitor and also happens sometimes when using the crop tool with dual monitors, but not as reliable. The fix I found for this is to dock and re-float the bugged view or close and reopen the view if it was already docked. I am using the newest Affinity Version 1.7.2.471 on Windows 10. Hi, I have selected an area that is underexposed (see screenshot). I have tried to change the exposure and brightness of this selected area but nothing happens to the area selected brightness. I have tried with Mask ticked and not ticked. Please can someone explain what I need to do. It should be obvious once the area has been selected but I can seem to adjust the area.

If you increase the brightness to the max (25%) in develop mode, the beta barely brightens whereas the release version brightens much more I showed the last beta but it is the same in 1.6.0.83)

I took a lot of photos over the weekend in an indoor setting I didn't have speedlights or good internal lighting so a lot of the photos have light coming in from the windows as well as from the tungsten lights overhead I've tried playing around with the exposure, blackpoint, brightness, shadows and highlights settings in the develop persona but I am unable to balance out the exposure of the whole photo so that I can preserve the detail of thw windows as well as the interior How can I achieve this? I can't share the actual photos since it was a private function I'm working with RAW files

I've noticed that no matter what I do with the contrast or brightness sliders, the number at its right never changes. The adjustment works fine, only the number is not. If I enter a value manually and hit enter, the slider reacts properly, but the number remains 0. I've also noticed that it shows 'px', instead of '%'. Regards; Val [edit] It happens with all the adjustements.

Possibly these are stupid questions, but even the help file have not helped me: - Why can we change the black point in the basic settings in the develop persona, but not the white point? - A the same position in the Develop Persona: what is the difference between Exposure and Brightness? Playing around with both sliders show identical changes in the histogram and photo. Best regards BlauerClaus

Pleased to say I've totally transitioned from Photoshop. I use a Samsung 4K monitor which is super bright and I have to turn the brightness down substantially to see the grid lines. Could you either make them more pronounce or have a "volume" control for the grids please

I have notice when I open my raw files in Affinity Photo, they are much darker than they are in Adobe Bridge and in Photoshop. They also appear much darker than they appear on my camera view. I'm wondering if I have a setting or preference set wrong. I have attached two screen shots. Nothing has been done to either photo except to open them in Affinity and Photoshop. You can see the difference in the brightness and color. The Photoshop clip better represents what was captured in the camera. Can anyone make suggestions or have you noticed this and what did you do? Thanks, Joe
