  1. I downloaded my first graphic from Freepik, then opened with Designer. The graphic is a collection of some geometric shapes. But how do I select one of the shapes to use in a project? This is what it looks like when I open in Designer.
  2. Another of my recent works. I enjoy doing realistic pieces and this one I really enjoyed doing. It's all vector, With afterthought I maybe should have omitted or blurred the reflection of the glass on the table as it probably too 'clear' for a reflection on wood. The reference pic was one from Pixabay and there was also a Wine bottle in the pic but I left it out as I wanted to concentrate on the glasses and fire.
  3. One of my recent works. I enjoy doing realistic pieces and this one took quite a while. It's all vector, not sure what the drink is inside the glass but suspect it's Rum & Coke, and the reference pic was one from Pixabay.
  4. Vector Texture Toolkit II: Ammonite II Ammonite II background texture tool to create textured backgrounds using only vector elements. As Rock Monster World Toolkit but with different vector elements! Same Procedure Used in the background of Ammonite II Contents The Toolkit contains various elements to allow for the construction textured backgrounds using vectors but some aspects will need to be refined independently according to requirements (Size for instance!) A. A set of simple styles that define transparency B. Set of vectors (These are contained on a separate artboard) C. A set of vector assets sub-dividend into 4 categories. (I was a bit concerned about the number of nodes here!...as their are compound paths included!) D. A layout artboard with containing mask E. An artboard containing irregular vector shapes. (and some textured compounds!)...does not reflect exactly the assets panel! It will require a bit of experimentation to create what you need.. Export as bitmaps or Multiple artboard file to be re-imported to other files using the place tool There are some 'basic' instructions included in the file Sample images as below: Textured image Vector Objects Ammonite II - Textured Background Tool .zip
  5. Practice drawing using vector brush
  6. I've purchased several stock vectors for a client's project. When I open them in AD, the layers aren't editable as vectors. The supplier assures me they are editable in Adobe Illustrator. Is this not something that AD should be able to do too? insurance-services-concept-abstract-3d-sphere-globe-with-icons-hand.zip
  7. Ammonite II Finally finished the second Ammonite.. All vector using Project Brush 25:Outline Inker and grunge textures Original size 1000 x 1000mm Upload .jpg 2362 2362 px
  8. I made a quick update to my avatar since I recently shaved. I drew the image in Medibang, traced the image in Inkscape and then cut apart and colored in Designer. This is my go-to process for illustration work.
  9. Thought I'd add a quick shirt I did for work using Designer. I love the variable width tool for strokes. Is there a trick to matching up the two ends instead of eyeballing on the iPad? THX Stephen
  10. Hello. I thought EPS is vector until I zoom EPS file. EPS is not vector? Thank you so much.
  11. How can I get the blue line as the outline of the type, that it surrounds the D, K, N and Y separately
  12. I haven't found a solution to this yet on affinity or other vector programs, hoping someone has. In my work I am consistently trying to crop a series of vector paths using a shape (like a circle. I can crop one at a time, copy/pasting the circle over again and again, but that is very time-consuming. I've attached a very basic file to try and illustrate this. In the group on the left, basically I want the 'hairs' outside of the thicker circle gone, leaving only the parts that were inside, so it ends up looking like the group on the right. I manually edited this one to show you. I need these to still be vector paths, not expanded or rasterized. Any ideas? Thank you. VectorCropAttempt.afdesign
  13. New in Version 1.2: Tracks Function – Create many types of rotational designs. Routes Selector – You have a choice of the order in which most designs are drawn. Colour Schemes – Seven new schemes. New Shapes – Spikeys, Flowers, Rectelipses (Squircles), Quaternates, and path versions of other shapes. Code Viewer – Improved viewing options. Fields – You can now determine if the shape positions are automatically recalculated. I recently published an update to Canny Vectors which is an application that allows Windows 10 users to create various vector designs that can be used in the Affinity applications – as native Affinity layers – or saved as SVG files to be used anywhere you use SVGs. I had the Affinity applications in mind when I was developing the software but you can probably use the output anywhere that can use an SVG. It is not meant to be the greatest vector application ever, or anything like that; it’s just a small collection of simple tools which might come in useful every now and again and save you a little bit of time here and there. And it's completely free with no ads. At the moment it has five functions: Grids – regular orthogonal grids of shapes; Fields – a collection of randomly placed shapes; Panes – an area covered with randomly altered lines or shapes. Centrics – Create ‘concentric’ shapes, and more. Tracks - Create rotational designs. Each function has various options with which you can vary what the software creates, so there’s lots to experiment with. The application comes with a user guide – written using the Affinity applications – which I have attached to this post: I’ve attached some example images and a video of each function showing just some of what you can do. Please do not make bug reports or make feature requests for this software in these forums; I’m sure the Serif staff don’t want that extra hassle. Use the in-app functionality instead, or you can rate/review the software in the App Store. If you want to make a feature request, please read the notes in Part 8 of the user guide before making the request (some requests/suggestions may be ignored). (You might be able to PM me via the forums as long as the discussion doesn't go on for too long.) If you do use the software, and find some good uses for it, then it might be nice if you could show some examples here for other people to see. You can find and install the software via this link: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9P3H0SH7XK02 Or you can get it via the Microsoft Store here: ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9P3H0SH7XK02 Why not give it a try and see what you can create? 2022-02-27 12-25-52.mp4 2022-02-27 12-30-24.mp4 2022-02-27 12-41-04.mp4 2022-02-27 12-43-22.mp4 2022-02-27 12-47-38.mp4
  14. Recently completed work: Marie Antoine-Not. The subject of my next piece is DEFINITELY going to be bald*. * Or wearing a big hat.
  15. Hello guys! is it possible to export project (vector) into OBJ file format instead of SVG so work can be done with ease on Apps like Blender, cinema 4D etc. Possible ? Planed ?
  16. This has very nearly been the death of me - but the end is finally in sight!
  17. Hi everyone, I want to show you my vector art based on a real photo of a Honda Motorcycle.
  18. Is there a way to export a vector image with a transparent background? Edit: I want the file to be exported to a vector image like svg or eps. Exporting to a png file will not work because it is a raster image and the print shop that I'm working with needs a vector file with transparent background. BBC Logo White Negative.afdesign
  19. Is there a reason that this happens at the end of a stroke when using the (Vector) Pencil Tool with tablet pressure in Designer? I often use the Pencil Tool because it's fully vector and super straight forward - no textures, clean look, and always has the option to expand strokes. But I've been noticing these weird ends where they should just be a round edge like the examples I made using the Pen Tool with pressure profiles (on the right). When I expand the strokes made with the Pencil Tool those weird edges actually expand too, leaving me with a bunch of messy stroke ends that are baked into the curve. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?
  20. In this tutorial, we'll cover landscape drawing, composition notions, the focal point, how to lead the viewer's eye and how the HSL dialog (hue, saturation and luminance) allows for incredible versatility in colour choices. Check it out here: https://www.isabelaracama.com/post/design-a-landscape-illustration-affinity-designer-tutorial
  21. New work: All Dolled Up. (Those curlers nearly killed me!)
  22. When I change the size of the vector brush stroke, it loses it's brush type. Once I restart the program it works for a bit but then does it again. Anyone else having this issue?
  23. I don't know if the Calligraphic Art Brush exists in Affinity Designer sice I'm a beginner but if it doesn't exist I think that you would need to add it to Affinity Designer because it helps a lot in vector inking. I hope that you will take this into consideration. Thank you
  24. I will be happy if you could add the "Shape Builder" tool to Affinity Designer like in Adobe illustrator it will be very helpful. This feature will go with Affinity Designer to the next level. I hope that you will take my request into consideration. Thank you
  25. If you could add this feature of "Merge" in pathfinder tool like in Adobe illustrator it will help in vector art coloring easily. I hope you take this request into consideration. Thank you
