  1. I ordered a slightly used Wacom Intuos5 touch Small Tablet with pen, cable and wireless kit for $140 from a graduating Arts student. Does it sound like a good buy? Being a lefty I noticed Wacom's tablets can be flipped around and software switched. I know Huion has handedness settings but I still don't fancy rotating the tablet and have the labels upside down. My only concern is whether it will lag on wireless with AD or APh? I recall reading somewhere that USB cable is preferred. Can you advise me. Have Affinity staff got inhouse experience with this model (PTH-451) Thanks Michael
  2. Hello, I'm really happy with Affinity Photo, great software ! I used it this week in production and noticed some freezes / lags which occurs in a random way, or at least I have not found yet the cause of it. I'm very surprised because I have a decent hardware ( i7 5960X and Titan X ), so I'm wondering if it really comes from my hardware or if AP needs a bit of work on the performances side. By the way is there any setting I can use to improve AP performances and responsiveness ? RAM usage is already set on the max available. Thank you, Pierre
  3. Hi, I experience this issue regularly, so I figure it is a good idea to report it here. In Affinity Designer, whenever you open a second document, the interface starts lagging. It is not an issue with a specific document, nor does it have to be a complex document you're working on. The solution seems to be to close all documents, not just the second one, and reopen the document you want to continue working on. If you do this, there is no lag whatsoever. OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.14393 Build 14393 Processor Intel® Core i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3401 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8,00 GB Adapter Description AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series Affinity Designer version 1.5.1.43 Regards, Karel
  4. i am using the version 1.5.1.43 of affinity designer , the font menu runs very slow for me in windows 10 ,but whenever i change the program compatibility from properties to "windows 8" the font menu works very will , the problem is when i change the compatibility to "windows 8" the whole app gets slow
  5. Hello, I bought AP few days ago, but when I want to use it, it is unusable. When I want to start use brush or other tool. It takes about 10 seconds to start drawing. Meanwhile you need to hold it, because if you dont and draw any other brushes, app hang and drop into not responding state. I am runing on Windows10, 8GB RAM, AMD R9 380, Wacom Intuos, Latest drivers. I also try beta of AP, but the symptoms is the same. When I open JPG instead of PSD exported from Lightroom, it is slighty better but still not usable for normal editing. Thank you for any advise. Pavel
  6. Was using the Beta release for Windows Affinity Photo and wasn't having any issues. Today I purchased and installed the non beta 1.5.1 version. I opened up a photo I had been working on and immediately started noticing lag issues. When I try to make a magnetic selection the program will stop responding to me and a white banner will appear across the top saying program not responding. The same thing happens when I try to use the Warp Mesh tool. If I make an adjustment to more than 1 point at a time, the program locks up for about 30 seconds before I can regain control. I don't remember having this issue when I was in Beta test.
  7. Hi, I purchased photo 1.5.0.45 at lunchtime today, and am using it on a Dell Latitude E5420, Intel® Core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz, 8GB Ram, 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor. Using brushes is currently near impossible as there is a 5 to 6 second delay between touching a brush to the 'paper' and the paint starting to flow. (Same results when using mouse or tablet.) What happens is that the program draws a straight line from where the brush touched the paper to where the brush is after the 5 or 6 seconds when you stop the brush from moving. If you then continue to move the brush it applies paint as expected. This process is repeated for each stroke of the brush. I did not have this issue with the Beta version so it's frustrating to come across it in the purchased version. I hope that you can suggest or find a fix for me. I can spend a little time on this if you need me to try some actions or provide other information (but this is limited by other commitments). Thanks and Regards....
  8. I am working on an image the if I choose to clone with Current and Layers Beneath option on, there is substantial lag in performance. If I use Current Layer it's smooth as butter. I was thinking since the layers beneath is heavily adjusted that the performance is lacking? I clone onto a new empty layer to keep everything non-destructive.
  9. What slows down AP? I have noticided AP slowing down after intense use it seems....any tip on that? , what routine worflow do you recommend to avoid that? thank nk you, cheers
  10. When I dock things on the left hand side of the UI and I paint vector or pixel strokes, there is definitely lag in the brush strokes. As soon as I undock them, I get my performance back.
  11. Hi, I can't seem to use Affinity photo anymore, I can get so far with lots and lots of lag time, spinning wheel etc and I finally finished a photo and went to export and it completely stops responding. I have tried reseting the default settings, I have rum my mac through first aid, no problems. I have restarted it. I have increased the RAM usage setting in Af as per someones suggestion. Nothing works. I am not very tech savvy so I don't know what else to do. This is now constant and never ending. It has become unusable. Its funny because it used to be fine??? Can anybody help me please. I have attached a screen shot of the computer system I am using ...but like I said it used to work fine. Also when my CPU goes through the roof there is nothing else open except Activity monitor. I am using Ox S El Capitan 10.11.3

  13. Hello, I have a commercially purchased/licenced Adobe Illustrator file that contains various images to be cut and past into my document. On loading the AI file into Affinity designer, there is significant Lag/Slowness on selecting an object. I am running a 3.4ghz Core i7 iMac with 32gb memory and 2gb Graphics card. If I open the same file in Adobe Illustrator, there is no perceived lag at all when selecting objects. Because the AI file is commercial, I am unable to post it in this forum as it would breach my licensing terms. How can I get the file to you for investigation? Kind Regards Jason
  14. Vectorized a texture file and the resulting svg was rather large. opened it and at first i didn't think it was opening, a little later, I noticed my map was working rather hard. AD had opened my file. Went to zoom in, it froze, then came back. Went to select all layers to add them, crash. Spinning beach ball of death the whole time. I can't upload the offending file, since it is 200+mb. I think this kind of file warrants a special mode for importing large files; never rendering at a high resolution, offering to add all curves together, and less nice looking pan/zoom. I think the scrollbar (in the layers menu) had hit its minimum size. 2014mbp, nvidia gforce gt 750m, 16gb ram, 15" AD used 9gb+ of ram Would this be considered a bug? I wasn't sure.
  15. I have been using Designer for over a year, everything works perfectly. Today I got the update to AD 1.4 and also decided to test AP. I have some lag using zoom, all levels. Something very annoying. I do not know if this is a problem of performance. I tried to change the preferences and nothing happened, the problem remains. In Photo the performance is terrible. -- MacBook Pro 13" retina - late 2013 cpu: i5 2,4GHz ram: 8GB ssd: 256GB Intel Iris 1536MB OS X: 10.11.2 A.Designer 1.4 A.Photo 1.4 (trial) ad-zoom-lag.mov ap-zoom-lag.mov
  16. I have a MBP 13" mid 2009 with 8GB RAM running OSX El Capitan, and I can't use Affinity Design 1.3.5 because each 5 seconds the cursor turns in Spinning Wait Cursor. Then I can't do anything in this program. I believe that AD can be a Illustrator Killer... but I can't understand why too low in my machine. I trying to resolve duplicate fonts ( I see this tip in another topic ). But not work for me. Any Help ?!
  17. Heya, Have anyone else noticed that Affinity Designer and Photo gets slow and laggy after couple of hours of working with the programs? I first thought that there must be something with my MacBook Pro and after some hours the RAM is somehow blocked or full and every operation, mouse click, drag, pull etc is starting to lag more and more. But now that I'm using AD with a completely different Mac I notice the same behaviour. What can cause this? Is anyone else suffering from this habit that the programs have?
  18. The brushes recently developed obnoxious lag. In both Designer 1.2 and Photo Beta, they were fast and fun and now they’re slow and aggravating. I’m using only simple brushes. Don’t see this lag in Photoshop CC 14 or SketchBookPro. Don’t have other apps open simultaneously. I did install Designer Beta in addition recently… This iMac (8 MB RAM, 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3, ATI Radeon HD 5670 512 MB) was recently updated to 10.10.3 but this lag developed some days after that. In Disk Utility, repaired permissions and verified disk, but that had no effect. What to check, what to do? Re-install? If so, how to remove ancillary files? Love your apps otherwise - they’re really fun to use.
