  1. Check out my night scape shot processed with Affinity Photo. Check who are on pier.
  2. Addicted. That's how one of my customers describes my relationship with AP First image multiple textures, blend modes, and a bit of "blend-if". Second image composite using blend-if and masking.
  3. Yes, it's that time of year again. My Christmas video is made with a 'borrowed' image, chopped up and manipulated with Affinity Photo, animated with Anime Studio (a third-party package marketed by Serif a few years back) and brought together in Serif MoviePlus X6. Merry Christmas!
  4. started from here and it was at a church --- we better not mention the WB lol And we finished here just by fiddling with buttons and sliders Honest thoughts and question welcome, although I have no idea to how possibly just as much about noticing an object that could be a photo to practice editing
  5. So I walked down to the city to sign a bit of paper and although I knew I shouldn't; I took the bloody camera! . 30-40 minute walk there was no drama -- saw subjects but left the camera in old canvas backpack -- signed the paper and bolted for home until idiot left some leaves on the footpath . The photos eyes were open, so that was the end of the "bolting" home . Took around 90 minutes and about 30 subjects LOL!! However; most subjects do follow themes of my urban photos -- light and shadows >abstracts >minimal >contrasts >seldom people - but I caught the lady having a cuppa >reflections/urban trees but I have decided to include more ugly roofs in the frame All just because a idiot left some leaves on the footpath!! It is amazing what is there that can be made into a photo. Some of these, like the 1/2 edited "twins arguing" will be shared later as a seperate photo. But that's after I get through ALL the others on the waiting list Panasonic Fz300 and slapped together with Affinity Photo The problem with a very versatile camera --- too easy to take far too many photos!! Cheers
  6. cranky clouds "ya silly old bugaa" "now listen to ME you clone" crested pigeons in the morning sun
  7. Hi, i am new to Affinity. First problem, if i load a pic into affinity it is coloured with a purple tone. I dont know why, because i cant remember that i have done any finetuning in the general settings. Second is, if i choose "save as" i cant save a jpg. I only can choose .afphoto . Anyone an idea? Regards Daniel
  8. Hope this is Ok to post here Nothin' on Tv so .... I'm very open to honest CC --- just don't feel I have this "right"; whatever that is . 2nd is the original The main effect made with the perspective live filter Any links/tips/advice or even show your photo/s or edit mine Cheers
  9. I bought this program during the Black Friday sale, and everything was going just fine until the 14-day return period passed. Now the program no longer works. The image (ironically edited in Photoshop) shows what I see-- there are no live tools and the program no longer does anything. If I can't get hold of somebody who can fix this, I have no choice except to charge back the price I paid for this program since I can't use it.
  10. couple of happy snaps of a little backyard mate -- background was basically painted in/mask out until it looked Ok. As usually, no particular workflow and done for something to do so i don't have to do the many things I need to do Pana Fz300 honest comments/cc/questions welcome. . I still owe someone an answer -- will get to it when I work out how I did it LOL!!
  11. Empty space ... ... filled! Last week we paid a visit to Shugborough, Staffordshire, an eighteenth century house and former home of photographer Patrick Lichfield, owned by the National Trust. The Room of Imaginary Landscapes has several enormous paintings fitted to the walls depicting, well, imaginary landscapes. The paintings are being taken down for conservation and cleaning; they are well over two hundred years old, after all. One has been removed from its mount and is resting on a stand while it waits to be taken away, and I took the opportunity of photographing it ... which was easier said than done! At about ten feet by eight, and with only a small space to work in, I had to take three photos and stitch them, then do my best to restore the result to a straight-sided rectangle with the Mesh Warp Tool. Next I cleaned up the result by increasing the saturation and contrast and one or two little tweaks; if I had the patience, I might have done a lot more and fixed those water stains, for instance. Here's 'before' and 'after' ... And all that remained was to distort the finished image to fit the gap in the frame, using the Move Tool.
  12. Hi, in the last beta of Affinity Photo for Mac (I'm using Mojave 10.14.2) the right click (or ctrl+click) doesn't work on spare channels so that it's not possible rename or assign it. Thanks
  13. the local blackbird dropped in nearby for a quick drink before rushing off to find more tucker for the kids. Considered a pest in australia Only had time for 4 clicks It's a massive crop of a very small file Likely did more work than was required; but it's all good practise --- been sharpened/softened/masked off/background blurred+darkened/dodged+burnt (mostly burning) But all rather impressive for a little panasonic fz300 imo honest comments and questions welcome
  14. How many of you would be interested in including AppleScript functionality for Batch processing in Photo, Basic Template Creation is Designer and automated Catalogue/Book Creation in Publisher? The key is to automate repetitive tasks and let you focus more on the finer details on creative work? I am a bit of an AppleScript fanatic and like to automate certain things to free up my mind for the refining process of creative work. Adobe used to have AppleScript functionality built-in to their design apps (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) before, but now I am not so sure since they went and made Creative Cloud (I don't like subscription software). The intention of this proposed feature is only to automate the basic repetitive tasks for batch work and creating ready-made template designs in fewer steps and free up the creative mind for higher level work such as refinement of a project; in a smaller phrase to be more efficient with your time.
  15. Hi. I replaced Photoshop with Affinity Photo. I ran into something strange. If I copy and image online to the clipboard and create a new document from the clipboard...if I try and use the magic wand tool on the image, it doesn't do anything. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a bug? Thank you, Carlos Affinity Photo Windows 10 - 64bit 32GB of RAM - i7 - Nvidia 1080

About the Project:Beyond Horizon is a small project I've been working on for a couple of years now, starting off as a 2d pixel art game before moving into this mixture of vector and semi-realistic textures that I started to play around with while working on an illustrated calendar.I'm currently working on this project solo so production on the game has been slow (along with changing a lot of things required to re-start from the ground up) and I felt like I should start sharing the project. 17. Affinity Photo 1.7 beta completely replaced my Photoshop needs. I would like to have a Digital Asset Management software like Lightroom from Affinity. This will enable culling and then taking them to Affinity Photo for more detailed work. So how to do image management until we get another gem from Affinity? Nikon View NX-i does the job for basic image management. View NXi + Affinity Photo is a true replacement of subscription based Adobe Photography CC plan. 18. My very first project and photo editing with Affinity Photo. I took yesterday 3 pictures at my customer work place. I have to use bracketing because there was loads of highlights and shadows then i combine those 1 HDR picture what i tweak with Affinity Photo. Then i save it 32-bit tiff file and move it to my customer folder, after that i did some tweaking with colors and stuff at Capture One, then i move it back toedit table at affinity. I had to straighten picture and clone some stuff areas where had nothing cause of straighten. Then i removed some disturbing items like clock at wall and some wires and stuff like that. Then i saved and refresh picture at Capture One and did some vertical and horizontal tweaking. And then i had first rdy picture...
  19. I'm just trying to use a mask to replace the background of my photo. I add the mask and a background layer. I've tried a selection to mask and just a blank mask. But when I try to use the brush to adjust the mask, there is no change. I've tried going from all black and using a white brush and the opposite, all white with a black brush. No response. I'm so frustrated. I'm sure it must be user error, but I cannot figure out what I'm missing. Thank you in advance for your time and help! Update: Using the brush on a regular layer doesn't do anything either, so I must have a weird brush setting going. Solution: Turn off "Protect Alpha."
  20. I have some others to come with a bit more detail about the editing ; however comments and questions welcome . All but the tree taken with a Pana Fz300 Crested pigeon perched over water fountain bubbles -- one click at a time shadows from a bus stop shelter just a few minutes minutes (backyard) the difference three hours can make -- nice day until the dust storm wandered through
  21. When I create a new document, I am given a white background for my new document. How do I create a document with a different color? I'm sure this must be easy, but I am a new user of AP. (longtime user of Photoshop). Thanks!
  22. Honest comments, suggestions and questions welcome Do you prefer one picture per thread or multiple collages/pictures like this thread two hours of changing clouds guess who forget to rotate the polarising filter from vertical to horizontal pretty in the front yard actually -- more versions to come He's MINE!!
  23. Well my tremor seems to be going at least, maybe time to try something serious now I can draw again.
  24. Intentional camera movement is exactly what it says: you move the camera during exposure. I spent some time deciding whether ICM is just a gimmick or a valid technique -- I think it's both! Done well, it's very striking. Here's a couple of examples I shot yesterday ... These are a couple of the Christmas decorations at Shugborough, Staffordshire (UK), the National Trust property that was the home of photographer Patrick Lichfield. Here they are again in "proper" photos ... The dashed appearance in the second shot is down to the LED lights, which flicker at 100 Hz (mains frequency is 50 Hz), and something I hadn't expected. HOW-TO It's a very simple technique. Set your camera to a slow exposure, from, say, 1/4 second or much slower, depending how much movement you want. In bright conditions you may need a neutral density filter. Press the button, and as soon as you hear the shutter open move the camera. Simples! Remember that the trails will go in the OPPOSITE direction to the camera movement. You may need to have several goes to get the hang of it, and before you get a shot you like ... but that's not unusual in photography! There are quite a lot of ICM photos on the internet to give you more ideas, and there's quite a bit of variation in the kind of results you can get: interesting, abstract or just weird.
