  1. Hi Everyone, In AP, do we have an Eyedropper tool like we do in PS? In photoshop if I'm retouching i can select the brush tool and then press and hold Alt/Option to quickly bring up the eyedropper tool. Once i release the key it goes back to the tool i was using. Is this available on AP because i can't find it. Thanks!
Viel Spaß Euer Jack Bauer Hello, I provided another Affinity Photo on YouTube. This time as a kind of a Quick Tipp how to use the several transform and warp tools. Because they are different compared to other software. I wish fun with that Ciao Jack Bauer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUm1DY2i_R4
  3. It was a nice surprise to find the art brushes in Affinity Photo. Here is a painting based on a couple of photos I took in Maine. The work took about 3-4 hours. The program could be better at painting with a couple of simple additions: 1 A good blender brush. Smudge and Blur aren't that useful for this. 2 A simple and easy way to change brush size without having to go to the slider - shortcut keys - control click and then drag to set size
  4. hi. I have problem with exporting highres(tiffs) and preview (jpeg) format in affinity photo. I tried it several times but maybe Im stupid or what. How is possible that tiff format from affinity is 100mb but exactly same photo from photoshop is around 350mb - without layers, the size is so big because of 50Mpx digital back. The question is how you exporting to tiff or to the jpeg in Affinity? Always when I export it the middle tones and also the tonal range is damage. With tiff format (adobe RGB) is less visible but in jpeg (resized to 1260pxX... profile sRGB) its horrible. Also affinity developers speak about possibility to export in PSD. Ok but have you ever tried to open in photoshop? I had always problem with missing opacity of layer, different colour rendering (for example in affinity you have to make more dramatic change to fix color than in PS and after if you open in PS its crazy - i attached them)... thanks for your help...

  6. Bonjour à tous, Hello everyone, 1st post ever on the Affinity forum. I just wanted to share my first Affinity Photo drawing and work in progress with all of you and a little review that will be posted for the months to come. So, let see the drawing wip first : Plus a nice layer workflow screenshot in detail : Here is the recorded time laps from yesterday : Last but not least, here is a kind of teaser for the french users/readers around that launches my deep investigations on Affinity Photo. I hope you'll like it. Affinity Photo, la "killer app" pour photographes "next-gen" ? (Affinity Photo, the "killer app" for "next-gen" photographers?) That's all for today :) richarre P.S. : the early sketches looked like this : and this
  7. I set out for a super moon shoot but there were clouds hanging low on the horizon and a storm was moving in from another direction. I turned my attention to the storm since there were the occasional lightning strikes and I wanted to capture them. After trying for a while and getting frustrated at the lack of success, I saw rain starting to close in rapidly on my (exposed) vantage point from yet another direction. I quickly packed up and moved to the closest parking garage. Once I was under a roof, I experimented with Live Composite captures (mode available on Olympus cameras) of varying duration for over an hour before the lightning storm finally started picking up and I was getting at least one strike every few minutes. What you see above is the final result of merging six different live composite shots for lightning strikes. Three more shots were used to to retrieve (and add) details in the buildings, the lights in the windows, and the traffic light streaks using Affinity Photo 1.3.5. Photo clickable for full res. Lightning Show Questions, comments and (constructive) criticism very welcome.
  8. Hi, I'm using Affinity Photo with my Wacom Pen and Touch and the pen pressure is not working as expected. When pressure button is pressed the size of the brush varies, but the dynamics panel (that shows up within "More" settings) seems not working at all. I've probed to ajust to "Pressure" several options, but there's no visible results. Am I doing something wrong, or the pressure just works with brush size? Thanks for the help.
  9. Hallo, ich habe ein YouTube Tutorial hochgeladen. Ich zeige in einem Quick Tipp wie man Farben verändert. Viel Spaß Hello, I uploaded a YouTube Tutorial, how to change colors quickly. Ciao CTU Jack Bauer https://youtu.be/Xn1tWcAjTT8
  10. Hi, I have bought both A.D. and A.P. I didn't realize that files like jpg and png are by default saved as the original file formats overwriting the original files, until when I just started using A.P. (Affinity Photo) with simple touch editing---I opened a jpg photo; edited the single background layer without adding any additional layers; pressed cmd+s; realized the original file is permanently modified and the size of the file is almost doubled; I assume this is because the editing a jpg file is almost like creating a new one, and the developer had decided to give it a lossless option by default for the matter of jpg compression. In A.D. (Affinity Designer), you almost always add vector layers to pixel layers opened from picture files (jpg, png). So saving the project does not touch the original picture files. On the other hand, in AP, when I load a pixel layer by opening a picture file, edit the layer (not adding additional layer) and press save, it automatically overwrite the original picture file, which I didn't expect it to. I was expecting the same behavior as in 'iPhotos.app' or 'Photos.app' from Apple. I presume this is intended by the developer. However, in my personal opinion, the photo files like jpg and png should be treated as resource files and should not be overwritten by default without warning users. TO THE DEVELOPERS: WOULD YOU GUYS AT LEAST MAKE OPTIONS TO TURN OFF THIS BEHAVIOR, OR PUT SOME WARNING MESSAGES ABOUT THIS MATTER? P.S. I CANNOT THANK ENOUGH FOR MAKING JUST GREAT MAC NATIVE APPLICATIONS LIKE AD. AND AP. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE THIRD APP THAT WOULD DEFEAT Adobe InDesign. Thanks.
  11. A fuji X-T1 raw file developed in Affinity photo. Fantastic software and will be spending a bit more time with this I think. (I think I've finally got the uploader working...) Screen shot of layers now attached.
  12. This was originally designed by me in InDesign/Photoshop, ISSUU link here: https://issuu.com/jasonproductsltd/docs/crgnz0815_nz___australia___asia_201?e=0 I have produced just the front cover in the latest Affinity Designer Beta (1.3.5.1) — better file compression in the AD file & much improved PDF export settings, great work devs! :D Oops, I'll have to share the AD file later with a link! When full pre-press features come in, it will be great! In the mean time, I made the canvas size 20mm larger than the A4 trim size to accommodate my hand drawn trim marks with a 'bleed' mask for the background image. Also, the background image was edited in AP — RAW dev, sharpening, additional lighting effects. Affinity just keeps getting better!
  13. Hallo, ich habe ein neues Tutorial zu Affinity Photo auf YouTube hochgeladen. Mit Binärcodes erstelle ich ein Cyber Thema. Dazu benutze ich ein "Selfie" Achherrje.... Egal. Also viel Spaß beim Ansehen. Eure Projekte und Fragen dazu könnt Ihr mir gerne posten. Euer CTU Jack Bauer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvwG-eTPBLo
  14. Hi, I am providing the source files of these two arts. One of them, with which I participated in the affinity photo contest. Soon,i will post more works. I hope you enjoy! Files can be downloaded here Best Regards, Heli Herrera
  15. Currently to get a color value with color picker tool, you have to drag it from the color palette and move it over the color you want. Only after that you can copy the color values from color palette, which is very unintuitive and complicated. Please allow to select color picker with keyboard shortcut, like I in Photoshop and allow to get color value by clicking on it - this way it's possible to copy color exactly from specific pixel. Also, Photoshop allows you to copy Hex color value directly to clipboard when color picker is selected and you right click on an area in image. This allows to easily get color values for web design.
  16. I saw the video on Layer Blend Options and wanted to try something with that, along with masks. I got a little carried away. The full project is 182 MB. The eyes make it look a little like Fozzy Bear from the Muppet TV show.
  17. Hello. I'm new to Affinity photo. I would like to learn how to remove / delete a photo while editing the item in Affinity Photo. I'm used to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and here it is possible to remove a photo from the catalogue and from the hard drive. Does Affinity have the same possibility? Best regards Jørn PS: I'm almost ready to drop Adobe creative cloud because Affinity seems to do an equally good job.
  18. Hi, my two latest Composings completely made with Affinity: https://flic.kr/p/x33bpj - Somniare https://flic.kr/p/vNYke9 - Eternity
  19. I tried to use as many of the brushes as I could. Starting with a black background saved me a lot of work. Keeping foreground, mid ground, and background in separate layers also helped a lot. The texture brushes are a blast to use.
  20. Hi, everybody~ I am a Chinese girl, I am twenty years of age. But, my English is not very good, hope your can be more inclusive. In September, I will be at the university of grade three. In school I major in animation, the software is MAYA. The usual spare time, I taught myself photoshop. Because I love the movie posters, I feel very magical and interesting. July day, inadvertently I opened the APP STORE. I found this Affinity Photo, I looked into its official website, its function after the introduction, I am crazy in love with it. Next, you can see posters, Is I use Affinity Photo to make the " China's style", the style of poster, With us Chinese traditional elements, Hope you enjoy it. Then, China now at 12 o 'clock in the evening. I'm going to do a sweet dream.
  21. Gradient Fill Text top to bottom? - Affinity Photo Add text layer and type and select text. Select Fill from the context tool bar and select Gradient. There does not seem to be a way to have Gradient go from top to bottom or bottom to type with Context tool bar. BTW I know Effects > Gradient Overlay has Angle when you open up expanded options with the Gear but I'd think it would be possible using Fill and then Gradient in the Context menu.
  22. Hi Guys. My name is Andreas Schmidt from Germany. Who of you used Affinity Photo and Designer on a new MacPro with D300 graphics card? I use the programs Affinity Photo and Desinger on a new MacPro and I must say that's rather poor performance compared to my MacBookPro (2012). It takes more than 40-60 seconds before launch the two programs on the MacPro, on the MacBook just 2 seconds. Even when processing OpenType fonts, the Great is more sluggish compared to the Little ones. Can someone confirm the problem ???? It is a clean and newly installed OS X 10.10.4 with 16GB of memory. Access rights were checked and repaired. Thanks for your help and sorry for the bad english. Best regards from Germany
  23. I have photographed this lady a long time ago, now I've edited the image with AP :)
