  1. . . . . tried something different for once. Here is my first U.S. Car Cartoon created with Affinity Designer
  2. Mr. Bean vector cartoon drawn in Affinity Designer. More info in my portfolio blog: https://communicats.blogspot.com/2022/05/vector-cartoon-mr-bean.html
  3. I've always like the concept of GUIDs (Globally Unique IDentifiers), and I like the sound of them "Goo eid". I've always talked and joked about them at my work (I'm known for always giving new people GUIDs when they start 🙂 ). On our company Intranet I had a chat group called GUIDs where I'd paste random GUIDs and sometimes facts about them every now and then. A while back I started drawing some cartoons and posting them there. I draw them with Affinity Designer, and I thought I'd post them here.
  4. A funny cartoon of a proud bee to celebrate Pride Month. This image is the last cartoon made from a group of other elements (logos, menus, etc.) created as the communication design for a business visual concept.
  5. Here's a cartoon character named Clint. It is a cartoon caricature of Clint Eastwood, done with no references at all and based on a tiny sketch I have done in few second with an ink pen on paper. I have realized the sketch resembled a bit Clint Eastwood, so I have decided to do a speedrun, my objective was to create in 1,5 hours a credible Affinity Design version of this sketch. Let me know your impressions. Thanks Original sketch attached
  6. Besides using A. Designer tools to create more elaborate illustrations, I also like to use it in more simple designs, like for instance cartoons. I created “Doodle with Sign” as a comic side project, also inspired by the “Dude with Sign” viral street performance. The visual concept is defined by minimal ink lines and a vintage graphic aesthetic. The 2nd. image is the intro image I created for posting this cartoon in slide mode, in certain social networks. Note: “Olive Thistle” is my alias for cartoons. Enjoy!
  7. As the new project for training and as just fun, I plan to recreate in Affinity Designer some objects or characters from cartoons or comic books from my childhood. Nothing specially serious. It doesn't have to be perfect and I also allow myself to do some minor changes in original designs. First project being created after hours of my regular job is coming from Disney's cartoon Tale Spin - it's seaplane "Seaduck" which was used by great pilot Baloo. Project isn't finished yet, but I've decided to share it. I know that shadows, details and some other things could be better, but for now it's just concept of the overall idea, and for sure will be still improved in spare time

  9. I did a sketch of a cartoon Alita after watching the movie way back. Never got around to actually fleshing it out. What i like about AD for iPad is the really clean lines with the pencil tool + stabiler + editable line weight. I'll be documenting my progress every session I give time for this piece.
  10. The basic image I copied from a New Yorker cover but then I made it my own. Just a learning process.
  11. 55 years ago . . . Disney released "Herbie" in 1968, which is still one of the most successful live-action movie till todate. This Cartoon was created with Affinity Designer a an homage to Herbie
  12. Another Affinity Designer Cartoon creation
  13. A vector cartoon drawing using affinity designer
  14. In 2017 I started a cartoon blog (https://endsandoddsblog.wordpress.com) and posted a bunch of random cartoon drawings I made with Affinity Designer. I recently restarted posting and thought I'd post the new ones here.
  15. Fan Art all made by me in Affinity Designer, portrait of the Principal Nigel Brown from the Cartoon Network TV Show "The Amazing World of Gumball". The (false) Bachelor Degree of Nigel Brown is made with Pixabay free stuff. What might Principal Brown have seen, that made him throw up so bad!?
  16. Alien Express Vector illustration in a playful cartoon style 🔗 https://metinseven.nl
  17. Retro cartoon style logo design for a plumbing company. 🙂 🔗 https://metinseven.nl
  18. Did some simple cartoon-like vector designing for T-shirt compositions of Elvis and Mr. Bean, unlike the realistic vector portraits I usually draw. The images contain a lot of Gaussian blurring, custom gradients and transparency. All vector, no pixels. Below are the vector outline views
  19. This is the mascot for my bicycle club Street Punx NYC. The mascot is based basically an old cartoon character I used to draw called The Brown Recluse, I retired him about 8 years ago and he reared his ugly head to volunteer his services for this club. I was inking a rough sketch (I'm rusty as hell, honestly) while sitting in a Starbucks (like a dirty hipster) when my brush pen dropped and splattered ink on the drawing. I was about to scrap it but decided to take a pic of it and give AD a shot. It started of looking like trash, and as I was playing around with the tools and options I was able to tweak the design more and more...this began last Friday.... I've been glued to this iPad since, making crazy adjustment and fine tuning and trying to figure out how to use this app to rebuild my protfolio. This is still a work in progress... because I'm still figuring out how to operate this software... This is the initial photo I took to show the club members how I screwed up the drawing...they suggested white out, but I'd rather drink it than shame my family by using it on my work (kidding, obviously). Super rough sketches.
  20. Making a few more versions of my Marijuana cartoon character to sell on shutterstock. Original is here. http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-287061479/stock-vector-marijuana-cartoon-character-smoking-a-joint.html?src=xoHmbYFlClYWaIz4oett7w-1-27 Also making him holding brownies and dressed up as a doctor, haha.
  21. I was inspired by a cartoon I have seen on the internet. I used Affinity Designer to create my own version of the character and created soccer field for him. I then animated the sweat using Pixaloop. I added sound effects in LumaTouch.
  22. Hey all, here's my latest all vector Designer character. A fun, cheeky and a little "nutty" cartoon squirrel character created for Nutty Squirrel Games, a client in San Francisco. Also, I decided it was time for a refresh on my Forum avatar. Love working on these types of illos in Designer!!
