When assigning keyboard shortcuts in APub there is an option “Apply to all”, which means that the new shortcut will work for any Persona.
You  can choose Photo Persona  and assign the shortcut for, say, “Layer > New Fill Layer”.
It will work amazingly OK in Publisher Persona, though there is no such menu command there (Publisher does not have Fill Layer in it’s menu).
But it only works until the program restart. Sadly enough.

    That looks familiar.
This behaviour has also been seen on Macs too. It still happens on mine but since I’ve never needed to do one long continuous stroke as seen in the recordings I’ve never found it a show stopper. But if it could be improved...

Changed brush parameter shortcut from Alt+RightMouseButton to Ctrl+Alt (same as macOS) Added --legacy-wintab command line parameter, which will use low-precision mouse input and tablet pressure data (the same as previous Affinity versions). This is only for users of old tablets that don't report valid high precision input (e.g. Wacom Graphire). This is the best news for today! Thank you very much for your efforts on it!

I would use it all the time in Affinity Designer. So much easier to use to simulate natural light and shadow on faces, in fact whatever.
But Designer is the mother of all workaround design programs.

Just saw the patch notes that alt+R click was changed to ctrl+alt, so I made a victory dance with my crab brethren.
Thanks a lot!!! The entire Affinity Suite just became a lot more user friendly with that change alone. 🥳
P.S. It works on my PC, so I can now use the brush shortcuts without any issue.
P.P.S. I just tried using the Lasso Tool and noticed that R click doesn't work when adding more to your selection. Anything that will be addressed before the launch of 1.8.4, @Mark Ingram?

I'm processing .RAW from a Nikon Z6. After a few minor adjustments the program becomes unusable. I can't so much as use the scroll bar without the computer running at 100% CPU.
I've tried a few things in the other forums as others seemingly have the same issue. Any thoughts or direction to fix this issue is greatly appreciated.

    Ditto on the CPU cycles.
Sitting still, doing exactly nothing, just existing in the background, AP is using between 7.8 - 8.5% of the CPU.  When I move the cursor around (literally, JUST the cursor), CPU usage jumps to around 25+%, sometimes even going over 30%.
And when I try to do any actual work.., ha ha!  What a joke.  My fans fire up and things start to grind.
It's time for some efficiency code-combing, I think.  (Or responsibility deflection; "It's supposed to do that. Overheating and Fan Noise are features, not bugs!"  Ha ha.)
Still.., AP is great for text layouts, (with enough internet research, I figured out how to flow text around objects, which it does very well, better than PS, -and yes, it's a valid ask of the program for my style of comics art), but due to these performance issues, it appears that I can't cancel my Adobe subscription just yet.  AP is not ready for prime time.
Whatever.  You can have my $69 and I'm happy to see the otherwise excellent progress.  I'll keep an eye on y'all while you grow.  ClipStudio Paint was a buggy POS for a long time as well.
Oh!  And Paint Tool Sai 2 is coming out soon with touch navigation.  That's going to be awesome!  Nobody does brush mechanics like Sai!

    hi,
i am excited with the affinity photo. its fast and looks real alternative to photoshop. i have been big fan of deviance resolve and nuke. the node base workflow is far advance to layer based work flow.
i think if the code is all new and still developing its the perfect time to integrate node base editing along with layer base workflow.

369/5000       I don't know if this option is currently under development, but in my opinion it would be very useful to have a node-based editor as an option to the layer system (Have both options). Because I work with 32 bit exr files to be able to generate multipass compositing and it would be very useful to speed up the workflow without having to copy the same information to other layers. Thank you.

While I do not profess to know how AP is structured under-the-hood (bonnet!), it seems like a lot of the tools are implemented in a real-time, live way that seems as if they would work in a node-based workflow.  For example, the node editor in Blender or Davinci Resolve.  If this is the case, it would be an incredibly terrific feature if the user could select between the current "traditional" interface and workflow for AP, or a node-based interface.  I would love to be able to create an image-processing pipeline with a network for nodes with preview renders along the way to see each stage of the workflow and variations of the node chain.  It would be terrific if node groups could be saved as "presets" that became single nodes themselves, which could be expanded and the contents exposed for tweaking and customization.
Please consider this approach, if it is possible.  Rendering low-res preview proxies during node assembly would hopefully be a lot less taxing on the interface than the current full-res rendering of Live Filters that tends to get laggy when there are even a modest amount of layers in the stack.  You could save full, non-destructive workflows as a pre-built node chain, you could have a single node chain branch into multiple variants, and have a batch node that feeds an entire directory of images into the node chain for processing.  Maybe even macro nodes, etc.  It would be so much more flexible and serve to further differentiate AP from PS.
The output of the node-based workflow could be fed into the "traditional" photo persona (a Photo persona node) for local, destructive edits, painting on masks, etc.
    One can dream....  LOL
Thanks for pushing the boundaries with your applications.

I read it fully. It gave me a quick grasp of everything about affinity photos.
I don't like video teaching, I think video teaching is not efficient. (You can hold different opinions)
The principles are indeed interoperability. I was a ps user before.
    I think:
It all started with F1. (The first person to write a video, or the first person to be a teacher, they don't have a teacher or video teaching.) They only have F1) If you have any different views on this, I am extremely interested!
I am a professional user of Lab Color Space (extensive learning and research and practice)
    You can try it.
I will never use your image. It's your copyright! (I saved just look at it)
