Timber got a reaction from cephii in Splash screen - add open recent menu
Hi, on Affinity Designer, and Photo for that matter, on the opening splash screen that has the examples, one can view these, or start a New document. It would be nice to add a "Recent Items" menu to quickly go to recently worked in projects, Simple,  but helpful and it would save some steps. - Timber

Hi Matt, here's the file with the line with two arrowheads that shows the stepped issue I'm seeing. If you zoom in you can see the stepping on both ends.

Great to see new features implemented~! A couple of notes:
    1. It would be nice to make the 'reverse direction button' of arrow ends a bit more visible... it's so grayed out on my screen I guessed at what it was... couldn't really see the icon.
    2. I don't recall seeing the OS requirements for 1.7 but I've been testing it in Mavericks and up... the Appearance Studio - multiple stroke and fills, seems to not work at all using Mavericks. One of the nice things about Affinity programs so far.. is that they have been usable in older OS's. Is this a change, or a bug?
    3. In some quick playing with arrowheads, I get some stepping using arrowheads/ends at 500% size and using a pressure mapping of the line (bringing both the start and stop ends down but leaving the middle up). If I remove the arrowheads/ends this stepping goes away. Bug?

Thinking of ways to improve the application icons... So, I'm thinking maybe at least the "aperture" portion of the icon should be black/dark like an opening/aperture would be.

One other interesting thing, when I switched from Light UI mode to Dark UI mode, initially the selected tool keeps a light gray highlight. If I clicked on it again, it went back to the Darker highlight mode. I've gotta tell you, the lighter highlighted tool stands out far quicker to my eye than the darker highlight. See screen shots below.

I think too the previous fast pace of newer beta releases and updates, prior to adding the Windows and iPad versions of the apps, got everyone spoiled. That was very impressive, but it's also very understandable with the expanded product releases that things need to be crossed checked and make sure the code base functions properly across the various platforms now. I think the programmers are doing a great job and encourage all to sit tight and wait for the goodies. I'm sure the programmers want to add to these programs prowess as much as we all want to see that happen too. Meanwhile, there's still so much I learn all the time that I can do with the existing builds. Keep up the fantastic work guys and gals! and Thanks! – Timber

It doesn't quite solve everything you've mentioned, but since you didn't say anything about skewing objects manually, perhaps you might be unfamiliar in how to do so. When an object or objects are selected, place your cursor just off of one of the side stretch points (not actually on them). Your cursor will change to two arrows pointing opposite directions indicating skewing. This will allow you to skew without having to use the Transform panel.

Well, the new icons look busy and even less so tell one what the app does. I prefer the original older ones. They show more detail and the new one's looked rushed/pressured to be flat with less precision. The programs are great and deserve top flight icons. The newer icons just don't look "professionally done" to my eye.

Timber got a reaction from R C-R in Closing Affinity documents - not what expected
When i close an Affinity document, either Photo or Designer, if there have been changes, it prompts if I want to save it. That's fine and expected, but then after saving, it doesn't close, I have to select "Close" again. Seems to me the expected behavior would be to Ask - Save - then it would Close.
Is this the way it should be? Does anyone else think the way I do on this? Not a big thing, but it seems counter-intuitive to tell it to Close twice.

    Cheers – Timber
