Many thanks for these suggested workarounds.  I did open the Publisher app & clicked on the tutorials box in the opening screen; that brought me to Serif's main page for all tutorials; & these could be opened without any problem.  So I went back to the bookmarked link I had created in Firefox for tutorials & now these tutorials open & work as they should.  I don't know if this was a temporary glitch in Firefox or a quirk in the Big Sur OS in my iMac.  But good to know that coming at them from a different direction can help solve these temporary problems.

Thanks as I think you were offering this advise as I was discovering it as well.

As another old dog (age 77), I find the workbook much more helpful than trying to learn from the videos.  I recommend going through all of those chapters that pertain to your photographic interests or needs, & doing those lessons with the download files.  Then I have gone back & created notes from my underlined text in each chapter which hopefully will become a workflow outline for my use of AP.  The process of returning has helped to reinforce the skills they work to develop.  Now I plan on just seeking out those videos needed to fill in the holes that may still exist when I start to really use the app as my photo editor.  But the lessons have already got me using my camera differently to be able to incorporate things learned from the workbook, like exposure bracketing, which I had never done before.

This was the problem; the price quote was in Canadian dollars, not US.  Once I completed the order info with my address it changed to the correct amount.  Order just placed & have been looking forward to something like this ever since I was a beta tester for the original release.

As a Mac user who switched to Aperture after becoming frustrated with the non-intuitive operation of LR, I now use Aperture for my file organization & storage but Affinity Photo for all of my editing.  Aperture also has a feature that allows you to select Affinity Photo as an external editor by going to Preferences & selecting the Export tab; under that you press the Choose button to select the External Photo Editor & pick Affinity Photo.  For the External File Format you can select Tiff (8 or 16 bits as you prefer).

Then when you want to edit an image from those stored in Aperture, you right-click on the image & select Edit with Affinity Photo App.  Affinity Photo will start with the image loaded & ready to be edited.  Then to return the edited image to Aperture for storage, select File > Save - a dialog will appear saying the image contains non-pixel elements - Select Save Flattened to flatten the image before sending it to Aperture.  That's it; the edited image will appear in Aperture alongside the original.

Hopefully Affinity will soon have its own storage & organization of images so it will no longer be necessary to involve Aperture in this DAM function.  But for now at least, I find this to be a very easy & straightforward way to use Aperture with Photo.

+1 to what MonkeyFire suggests.  I'm also using the Magic Mouse with Affinity Photo & find it very annoying & time consuming to keep having to move the photo image being worked on because it keeps jumping around on the screen.  It does seem to be more of an issue with the mouse, but have not had this problem at all with Photoshop, Lightroom or Aperture, so not sure what was done in those programs to prevent it.  But the option suggested above would be at least one solution, albeit not a perfect one.  Also still loving working with Affinity Photo & looking forward to the final release.

Leigh - Can't begin to thank you enough for sharing this epub of the Help files for Affinity Photo.  You have done a yeoman's job of creating this & it will make it so much more usable than before.  I have it downloaded on both my iMac desktop & my iPad 2, so I think that will really make it available as a learning tool while working with this Beta program.  I hope the Affinity folks are monitoring this thread & if so, they should also add in their appreciation for what you've done for a great many of us.  Cheers to you!
