Pedrober got a reaction from kenmcd in Three points separated at the end of the line/beginning of the next line
In general, the spacing of the ellipsis is tighter than the three periods and I don't like it. As stated, it's a controversial matter in typography. The fonts I am using are Sabon or Garamond variants and this difference exists. Anyhow, by chance, the difference is acceptable in the font I am now using. Thank you very much for your message.

Thank you very much, Walt. I'll post in the suggestions forum.

I hope the 2.4 version supports, at last!, footnotes in IDML import.

The first appearance of 2.3 version doesn't include footnotes support in IDML import. I hope it will be added very soon, because the footnotes support of version 2 (a major feature!) is incomplete as long as it doesn't include import capabilities from the standard format for desktop publishing file sharing.

Remember that support for footnotes in IDML import is still pending...

Thank you very much for your answer. I hope the 2.2.0 beta includes support for footnotes in IDML import.

What about cross references? Are they in this Beta?

Pedrober got a reaction from Leigh in 403 error when attempting to access the forum
Obviously, there is no need to use a VPN to access the forum, but (as far as I know) this version of Surshark doesn't let me to bypass the VPN in a connection while I am using the VPN for other connections.

Apparently, the 2.1 version is not going to support footnotes/endnotes in IDML import.

The VPN I am using is Surfshark.

I can't use Apub 2.0 in my Mojave machine (an i7!) but I have downloaded the Windows trial version and it works in my very old Windows machine. I have discovered that footnotes are not supported in IDML import when Apub 2.0 has that feature (at last!). Please update the IDML support with the new features.

In my opinion, the 2.1 version must include support for footnotes/endnotes in IDML import.

Pedrober got a reaction from PaoloT in Cross References
It's necessary to support cross-references in IDML import, together with footnotes/endnotes.

This feature was not present in Serif PagePlus! Congratulations.

Pedrober got a reaction from thomaso in Affinity 2.0 and Mojave
It's possible but in my i7 SSD Macmini late 2012 the performance is poor, because Mojave as host doesn't give Metal support to the Monterey virtual machine. As stated, I installed a Windows 10 virtual machine and the performance is better.
The Parallels site has a lot of useful information, manuals and so on.

Parallels only gives Metal support in the OS X virtual machine if your host is Big Sur. The only way to have your document visible in Apub is choosing "Software" in Preferences/Performance/Display, but the performance is very poor. I use Apub 2.0 in the Windows virtual machine thanks to the Universal Licence. In the future, with a new Mac...

I completely agree. I'm in Mojave and I have a Windows 10 virtual machine to be able to use the Windows version of Affinity 2.0 apps thanks to the Universal licence. The virtual machine is quick and responsive, much more than the Catalina or Big Sur virtual machines I have also tested with 2.0 apps.

It's very well made. You get up to four processors and eight GB or RAM dedicated to each virtual machine. You can have the virtual machine running inside a separate frame, or let the client's document windows sit next to the ones of the host Mac. You can copy&paste or drag&drop between the two environments. It's really well integrated.

Paradoxically, it's perfectly possible to install and run the Windows trial version in my old Windows machine (really old!) and my i7 Mac (Mojave) can't run Apub 2.0!

Unbelievable but true: just now, in 2022, I have received an InDesign file where footnotes are still formatted by hand, in frames created for that purpose!
