ostonica got a reaction from Ramon56 in EPUB export
My only use for InDesign is to create Epub versions of book for a small non-profit publisher. I was REALLY happy to find that Affinity Publisher can now open the IDML files that are the starting point for my work.
But there is no support yet for epubs. :-((((
PLEASE, PLEASE, raise the importance of this requirement on your priority list. Without this, Affinity Publisher is no use to me and I have to continue to use  InDesign . I have not found any epub creator that does as good a job making epubs as InDesign does.
You have done a wonderful job with other requests I've made for Affinity Photo, so I hope epub support will come in 2020.
Thanks for all the great work with Affiity products.

Some software (Artec Sudio 11, for example) comes with an XML file for the optimal settings for Wacom tablets for use with the software.

    See  http://101.wacom.com/UserHelp/en/ExpertSettings.htm.

I'm sure that someone at Serif is working on the Wacom/Affinity connection and knows the current best settings for using Wacom products with Affinity products. I'm am thinking mainly about the brush dynamics configurations.

It would be really helpful to have access to the xml file that your developers are currently using for testing Wacom products. I just got the new Wacom Mobile Studio pro at the same time as I got the Windows version of  APh, So it's taking a lot of experimentation to work out the best way to use them together and I am not very knowledgeable about brush dynamics.

    Thanks

AfPub, based on a very quick test, does a pretty good job of importing a PDF that I created of a book in InDesign. Needs a lot more testing, but that might be a short term option.

HOWEVER, the next very important step for me is missing.
I cannot export to a reflowable Epub
Is that feature also planned. It is needed for every project I have.

Yes, Mark, it's working as expected on the desktop with that version.

I just tested the surface dial with Sketchable on my Surface Pro 4. I've never used that program so don't know all the uses with the dial.
But as far as I could tell, the menu items specific to the application showed with no problems and the ones I tried all seem to do something.

The basic 4 functions of the dial,  zoom volume scroll and undo all work as expected on the SP4.

Anything I can do to help, please let me know.

I think this is a very serious, if not crippling, omission from Affinity Photo.  Applying a set of settings to a set of RAW files from a photo shoot is not, in my opinion, a function of a DAM.
It should be a feature of the Develop Persona.

ostonica reacted to MEB in Beta ..
    Hi DarkClown and others,
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion and we certainly don't mind users express them in the forums as long as we all respect each other while doing so. I believe at this point everyone already made their points clear, so I'm closing this thread as I think there's nothing more to add.

Regarding the issues with the Windows version, we are aware that some users are having problems with it. As stated before the dev team is quite small and is doing their best to fix all reported issues and improve the performance of the program.

We did have a Beta phase for Affinity apps on Windows where we corrected/fixed most critical issues/problems that were reported at the time the best we could before the release, but due to the huge Windows userbase and infinite number of hardware and software configurations out there, a considerable number of new issues/conflicts/problems were reported after Affinity's release. Since then we have been fixing bugs and solving those issues and are still doing so as they are reported.
This is somewhat expected as it's the first time the Windows code is running on a high number of hardware configs beyond the beta test phase. Things should get better as we stabilise the code and fix/look at these new reports. This takes time - specially for a relatively small team - but there's no other way to do it other than releasing the code in the wild (we must do it at some point), facing the new issues reported and work to move the application through this first/initial phase until it starts to stabilize. The Mac version is more mature because we started this same process two years ago. So please bear with us while we work on it.

For those participating in the forums it may look there's a large number of users having issues but remember there's no other place where they can report them. There's certainly more that are not experiencing any issues at all.

I don't know of a single program, photo/design/office/music or any other that when released and even years after release had no problems with some of it's features still having bugs. Affinity is no different, except that Serif are actively (if sometimes slowly) correcting the problems. I have every sympathy with those of us who still have problems with the software, but they really need a reality check, just go to the main Adobe forum/s or Magix music forum, even Microsoft Office forum  and you will find plenty of people who are unhappy about this or that feature not working properly. All of these developers release patches occasionally for their non BETA software, but sometimes you wait years before a bug is removed. Patience is needed by ALL of us!

I don't dispute that it would be a useful thing to have, but my point is that you seem to expect that it should already have this ability, and that's clearly not Serif's current design ambition.

There are other Raw processing priorities that Photo needs to square away before I'd argue there's a case for bulk Raw conversion capability:

1 Vastly improved conversion speed. At the moment it takes many users tens of seconds to just open one Raw file in the Develop Persona: this is clearly something that need to addressed and significantly improved upon before we can speak seriously about batch-converting hundreds of files; and

2 Conversion quality. Photo's conversions aren't bad, but they're a very long way from being a match for established converters like Photo Ninja and Capture One: it'd be madness for Serif to concentrate limited development resources on creating a batch conversion function before its conversion results match those of current conversion solutions.

So - as I say in the reply above - call this a feature request, but don't be surprised that it's not currently part of Serif's design intentions for Photo.

    Hi ostonica, v_kyr,
Sorry for not being clear. I was describing what's currently possible to do with the features/funcionality present in Affinity Photo now. Affinity Photo is quite recent and in constant development. There's still areas to develop/improve as we move forward. I don't know which functionality future developments would bring. This is even more true for the planned DAM.

I've edited my previous post to avoid more confusion.
