My suggestion to the designers of Affinity Photo is to provide a Golden Ratio overlay , besides the Thirds Ratio, Golden spiral and Diagonals.
As I read in this Forum group there is a great need for it.

    Hi @Nero,
Thanks for bringing this up. We are aware of the issues with the Zoom tool/controls in the context toolbar. I've bumped/updated our reports and linked to this thread for reference.

Wow I'm glad to see it was my fault! Thank you for help and sorry for annoying comments about this topic. However the cursor seems to stay low-res anyway...
Maybe I am just pixel-perfect terrorist.
Many thanks to all of you!

    Thanks to @Chris B
who pointed out I had not right setting for Retina rendering, I'm not sure now what's the default - imho for digital drawing/painting slow works better but It's superfine to choose.
    before:
I'm still waiting for retina half-res to full-res flickering while painting bug to be fixed.
I've post it many times and every beta that's the first fix I am looking for and the first thing I test... still not correct.
Please, please fix it - it's so annoying...
    Thank you 🖤

    Hey Nero,
You're seeing two passes here—for speed purposes. You can go to Preferences > Performance and change Retina rendering to High Quality (Slowest) and it will do a single render pass which should stop the flickering.

    zoom tool context toolbar bug:
    - also I would expect that I can drag the arrow to set the scale that way. it's stuck in place (just in some case it moves with mouse like on the beginning of screen recording) - you have to click somewhere beside.
    - slider with arrow doesn't reflect (update) when scale is changed in number-box next to it.

    Hi,
We are collecting benchmarks from users of the 1.9 betas in the Windows forum (as the Windows builds are finally getting GPU acceleration).
It will be useful to collect similar benchmarks on the Mac. If you would like to contribute your Mac benchmarks, the thread is here:
    Thanks,

Zoom value (top left) still doesn't update when using zoom tool... There are still many more important bugs probably :(
In sense of rendering graphic on retina while painting pixelmator or Ps still win. Saying that as fan I only wish this to be fixed.
    Looking forward,
    thank you!

Just tagged your comment to catch you, in case you missed Patrick Connor's note above.  I pre-ordered through the Serif Affinity store, and am all set for the download on June 19!!

Nero reacted to Patrick Connor in Publisher pre-order is OK for mac users?
Thanks. Then the answer is the opposite of what I said. The 30% discount is (a) serif store only and (b) beta testers only and (c) pre-launch only.

That amount of discount (30%) is only for beta testers and only via Serif's Affinity Store, from what we've been told. But we (users) expect that there will be a 20% discount for everyone via the Mac and Windows Stores as a launch discount for a short period of time.
Good question about the gift. Only Serif can comment on that, but my guess is that it's the same: only via the Affinity Store.

    Hello,
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the beta of Affinity Designer 1.7 for macOS.
Designer 1.7 is a significant change to the currently shipping 1.6 version. Files edited in this version will not be backwards-compatible with the shipping 1.6 version. As such, we would not recommend using this 1.7 version for critical or production work at this stage. It is inevitable that there were will be a number of issues with 1.7 but we hope these will be minor and aim to resolve any issues very quickly, so please use it and explore the new features, but also do keep in mind that you may find snags and we would appreciate your help with finding and reporting these to us.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.
It’s also worth noting that we aren’t done yet - we are still working through reported bugs from previous releases and hope to fix as many as possible before the final release of 1.7. To be notified when there is a new beta please press follow on this announcment thread
With all that said, we hope that you will enjoy the new capabilities introduced in this initial release and we look forward to any and all feedback you give to us.
    Many thanks,
    Matt

Please refer to previous beta 1.7.0.4 post where there's a list of major changes since 1.6. This latest update builds on the 1.7.0.10 changes and also includes the following changes:
Fix for issues saving after applying a 'none' arrowhead! Miscellaneous PDF import improvements. Artboard positions are now show relative to the whole spread, rather than showing as 0,0 at all times. Pen Tool now has an extra option to allow for the selection to be retained while adding new curves/extending existing ones. This is useful for allowing you to make use of snapping to other object geometry while creating/editing curves. It is on by default. 'Rotation centre' is now 'Transform origin' to better reflect what it does. Added a user-definable transform origin to the Node Tool's transform mode. Inserting a fill colour stop now correctly interpolates intensity (useful for 32bit documents).
