HI @dcarvalho84 To investigate this we'd need to be able see a video of the issue / look at the files so we can attempt to print them.

If you see the issue again please upload the file in question and provide as much information about the printer being used as possible.

Yes, i know, but unfortunately when i have those i was a little bit tight on time and i've to do what i have said. I have some more printings to come since i have a print shop, and will let you know as soon as i spot another file with some problems. I will try to reproduce with the 2 i've had problems too.

  2. I'm having a problem, at least twice, i've exported the file, no errors, the file seems to be ok, but when printed (happened with 2 different printers and 2 different files) i end up with some weird caracters.

The preset i'm using is the X-1a:2003 and unfortunately i don't have the files because i have to convert the font to curves and i've exported over the file but will be aware and as soon as i've another file with problems i will post it here.

(I know i shouldn't use the beta for work but that is the only way to find problems right? ;) )

We've always had the option of opening text in a PSD as either editable or bitmap, via Preferences, General. The new change (I'm guessing) simply changes the source of the bitmap when the Preferences do not say to keep it editable.

I don't this PSD enhancement is related to what you want. However, the PDF Passthrough part of the announcement may be what you (and a lot of other users) want (and have wanted for a long time) :)

Hmm maybe the PDF Passtrough could help but i've made a quick test with some downloaded pdf and don't work, even in preflight i have a lot of warning of missing fonts. I don't see any difference choosing Passtrough or interpret in this specific case (3 pdfs)

I have a result similar to Dazmondo77 and even exporting the files are not ok.

Edit: Now i've done another test and the files are almost 98/99% ok!!

@Dazmondo77 choose the preset PDF (Print) and give it a try.

@AdamW The first time i've done the test i've used the X-1a:2003 and it didn't work. Should the passtrough work on all presets??

You started out talking about the text you quoted, which refers to placed PSD files. You then gave an example that talks about a PDF file.

I don't see how your example relates to your first comment.

Because and before i test i think they are doing with PSD files exactly what i've explained (open the file completely in a bitmap way (as an image) and not editable) and want for PDF files. Or maybe i'm wrong and what i've quoted is not supposed to work like i'm thinking and that won't make sense for you but it does for me. Maybe i haven't explained myself the best way (I'm Portuguese :) )

    PSD flattened image representation
When placing a PSD we now use the flattened bitmap representation in the file rather than interpreting the file content ourselves. This will generally give better results on output.

If this is what i'm thinking i would love the abbility to choose bitmap or the way that it is now (editable) when we open pdf files, not only in Publisher, but Designer and Photo too would be really useful for me.

Ex: A client send me one file with fancy fonts or something and i need to set a plane for print with 4 on a page, at this time and since i don't have the assets in the pdf file i will end up with a file that is not like the original one and the option to place it/open as a bitmap (like photoshop does) would solve that problem for me.

  6. I have a problem with affinity photo customer beta on windows.

On monday when the update process was on is way, my pc was shut down by a general power off occurred even in the streets.

After that i can't install it anymore... Always setup failed, the uninstall process too, then i've tried to remove manually the installation folder and i've used ccleaner to remove the registry entries, but even that way it doesn't work... it still appear on the "installed applications" but i can't remove it because it give me some binaries error. I've tried installing the version that was there before, but setup failed too...

    Any ideas?

  7. @IsabelAracama the problem could be font related too, some corrupted fonts, font cache or even a lot of them installed. I've found if i have more than 1500 fonts installed my system start to become a little bit crazy especially Designer that start to give me some permission error or permission denied everytime i save or export a file, so this is something to keep an eye on it too.

  8. Since we are starting to lift some lockdown rules here in Portugal starting from today May 4, the small shops are now allowed to reopen, i've made some signs in Affinity Designer and i've printed them in stickers.

I've showed them to my clients in Isometric mockup created in Affinity Designer.

In the Colour panel, I want to change each of CMYK so I type a new number into the C field, then press tab and the cursor doesn't go to the M field. I have to manually click into each field. I should be able to quickly tab through and type in a new number for each. This seems to only happen with a text frame. It was fine with a rectangle.

Hi Jeremy. I've reported that issue in a Designer Beta and that was almost solved in the 1.8.3 release because if you have a shape it works now, but if you have artistic text this is still happening (if you type a number in C then Tab and put the next number it will mess the opacity, right?). Can't tell you if this is the behaviour in Publisher because i don't have my Mac with me now, but since i know what you're talking about i will test and tell you if it's exactly like that.

Edit: I've now tested in Mac and yes, it is exactly what i've said. It's ok in shapes (tab is working as it should), but doesn't work on artistic text or text frames.

    Hello all

For me the problem is the actual Win Ink. Because it overides the common functions of AD.

For example, with Win Ink turned on I can´t move the sliders on color panel, and if I cclick to numeral input them, this annoying keyboard shows up. There´s other things happening, but you get the point, as specified in the previous comments.

WHat I am doing now is to leave ink off, and just when I absolutely need the pen pressure I turn it on.

I can have pen pressure even with windows ink off.

    Hi dcarvalho84,

There are some known issues using some graphic tablets when 'Use Windows Ink for tablet input' is enabled. There are some cases where you won't be able to insert nodes, other times it prevents you from moving objects etc. These are all issues we've logged and are looking into it.

Have you tried using the application with 'Use Windows Ink for tablet input' checkbox disabled inside Affinity ? If so does that behave how you're wanting?

    Hi Sean

I've now unticked Windows Ink in the wacom preferences and in ADesigner and now it's working well, but for some reason i've done that before and ADesigner was not reading the pressure input.

Nevermind, case closed for me. Thanks. (You can delete the thread if you want)

  12. I'm a Mac user but, due to Covid-19 i'm working at home where i have the windows version.

I'm having some difficulties setting up my wacom tablet to use at least as i'm used to on Mac but i've found something strange, at least for me.

First i only have the app "reading" the pen pressure when i have the "windows ink" ticked in the wacom settings. Is that correct?

Then, and this is the same in the retail and in the new 1.8.3, if i have "Use windows ink enabled" in preferences i can't use the CTRL+ALT+Right mouse click and drag to control the brush size, I have some tooltip showing next to the pointer with ctrl+alt and i simply can't increase or decrease, but if i untick it's working as expected.

This is the normal and the expected behaviour? What settings do you recommend? (I honestly don't like to have the virtual keyboard showing everytime i need to start typing which i think it is related to have windows ink enabled in the wacom preferences... any recommendation on this too?

  13. Just to add a quick note, unfortunately i think that should be another problem. I've had some crashes and the file doesn't restore after the crash, i've reduced now the interval to 30 secs, but i'm more than sure that i've worked in any file a lot more time than the interval defined... (Sorry but i can't use the beta version now since a lot of work i do use fonts, i'm using the retail because it is a lot more stable)
