  1. This is our thoughts, we're mainly concerend with UI/UX/Web/Mobile design, layouts, mockups, components - so not necessarily really integrated design/graphoc design but speed of workflow without sacrificing quaity is key for us. I am personally an OLD Fireworks user :)

These are some of things from expereience we think would be a step forward for our use:

Deigner and Photo - No live preview in export persona, without a live preview the Export Persona feature is crippled in our opinion.

Photo - (Flood Select Tool) - Add a live marquee option that automatically updates the selection in view as you adjust the tolerance level. This is a small but unbelieveably useful option.

Designer & Photo - Add some more gradient options like satin, contour, starbust, folds, waves...

Photo and Designer - Add better support for predetermined/accurate warping effects - arc, arch, fisheye, flag etc ... Its much harder to get perfectly uniform effects like arc, envelope etc  with mesh warp or the shear tool.

Photo - Non destructive third party photoshop plugin support - maybe get some plugin developers on board to make this happen?

Full integratation of Designer & Photo into one app (for example a 'Design Persona' in Photo to speed up workflow) - for screen/UI/UX design its really useful to have all of the bitmap editing tools (including Photoshop Plugins) and the features of Designer like creating symbols in one app. The StudioLink feature in Publisher is good but it would be even better to have a completely integrated Designer & Photo from oour perspective.

I am so confused. You got to try it before you bought.  You knew what the program did and did not do.  What magic did you expect to happen by purchasing?  LOL

Look APub does not do the #1 thing I want which is Epub, but I knew that before purchase. But I am not complaining, This is just the initial release of a new product.  If you go back and look at Adobe InDesign sift release it was HORRIBLE.  Crashes, and minimal functions.    I bet APub is so much better than InDesign 1.0 sift release.  In fact, InDesign still can not do StudioLink

StudioLink was disabled was disabled in the beta until near the end

  3. You could buy a copy of of Publisher & get most of Designer & Photo integrated with the personas . I'm the same as you and would like to see the same or even better a full integration of Designer & Photo which I'm told isn't likely to happen. As a long time user of Fireworks I just like everything in one single app, whilst I appreciate Fireworks is nowhere near Photo in terms of bitmap editing.

So basically you expected a full Designer and Photo integration for the price of Publisher alone? If so, what purpose have the stand alone versions if this was the case?!

How would that work? You need registered versions of Photo and Designer for the the Design & Photo personas to work inside Publisher.  We already had licensed copies of Photo and Designer, we bought Publisher purely for bringing the features of Photo and Designer into one single app. Unfortunately we were wrongly under the impression all features of Designer & Photo would be integrated which is not the case .....

Your profile says you're an advanced member ???

Some of the so-called advanced members on here seem to be leading a culture of attacking people on the forums  who dare critise any aspect of Affinity software.  Questioning how and why is how we improve things.

  5. You make it sound like I've posted 100s of threads - NOT THE CASE - one of which is a reply to somebody else anyway

As a fully paid up  owner of licensed copies of Publisher, Photo & Designer I am  entitled to give my opinion - IF YOU DON NOT LIKE MY OPINION THEN THAT IS JUST TOUGH!!!

I'd say the only person here with a BIG PROBLEM is YOU - as you seemed to be FOLLOWING ME around the forums like a TROLL

Might I suggest YOU NEED TO GET A LIFE!!!

Won' be back here to reply again I have BETTER THINGS TO DO than WASTE MY BREATH ON YOU - YOU ARE INSIGNIFICANT TO ME but I seem to be IN YOUR HEAD - YOU HAVE A PROBLEM!!!

As usual, mr Petrenko is vining over petisesses...

You're never satisfied over things here on the Affinity forum... Perhaps your hobby to complain over every little small thing that almost everyone else don't care about...

Its NOT little, we were told Photo and Designer would be integrated ... in fact its not a COMPLETE integration - so therefore it was misleading.

Whats YOUR PROBLEM? Are you an Affinity developer or just some busy-body who doesn't like people giving honest feedback?????? I suggest you get another hobby rather than lurking on these forums moaning about honest opinions that can ACTUALLY make a difference.

I'll come back in a few months to see if Affinity have sorted this out - in the meantime I'll continue using Adobe Fiireworks and occassionally Photoshop.

And yes, I'll continue with my honest feedback .... good OR bad ....

Yes, the Publisher studiolink version are NOT the full version of the applications Designer, Photo.  For 100% application specific tools and configurations you need to use the stand alone application and not the one in Publisher.  I did not know this either until recently.

this sucks - I was very dissapointed - I have no real need for publisher at all, but purchased it to get what I thought was a full designer and photo integrated expereience. :(

When Designer Persona is activated, Symbols (Symbols panel) are also available in Publisher.

I think you misunderstood me ... I know that, but its just remarkably annoying that I can update existing symbols in Affinity Photo or in photo persona but the symbols panel is not available in Photo or Photo Persona mode, so i have to switch back to Designer or Design Persona in Publisher to create a new symbol.

I just want ALL THE FEATURES of Photo and Designer in ONE app without doing round trips or having to switch modes ... I just don't undestand  why Affinity does this. The integration in Publisher with Photo and Desginer for example is not a complete integration as anticipated, some aspects of Photo are missing like Photoshop Plugins. The whole approach just seems to be an exercise in p*ssing people off  with these little irritations, when a simple solution would be to to make a TRUE all-in-one app  ......

My honest opinion .... The biggest frustration is Affinity are very close to something very special :) .....

No, Symbols is specific feature in Affinity Designer.

This is where all the confusion is though - I have Publisher, Photo and Designer - I can switch between design and photo personas inside Publisher, I can create a symbol in design persona and update it and all instances of the synbol in photo persona mode but I have to switch back to design persona if I want to create a new symbol . I  do not know the the exact reason for doing  this and whether Affinity are worried about sales figure being affected if the crossover features are too many in each app.

We would not have a problem with paying significantly more than the current price for purchasing all three apps for a single app that bundled everything together without the need for switching between apps or modes. Also the photo persona in Publisher  is missing some Photo features, Photoshop Plugins are not  in there for example so if you need to use a Photoshop Plugin you need to 'edit in Photo', save then reopen in Publsiher, bit of a ball-ache and quite irritating tbh.....

Honestly think the software has a lot going for it but Affinity need to stop all this confusing switching ... If you want to offer seamless integration inside Publisher, makes sure it IS seamless and includes ALL the features of Photo and Designer.  At the moment this 'strategy' looks a bit 'Adobe-esk'.  Its not about money its about workflow, speed and elminating the need for round-trips, saving and reopening etc etc  ....  The sofftware would represent good value at twice the price with a true all-in-one package.

We bought a copy of Publsher for and to look at the integration of Photo and Designer and a have been dissapointed to see it doesnt incldue ALL features  of Designer and Photo.

Question about Knoll Light Factory. I checked it out on the RedGiant website, but it didn't say that it supported Photoshop, only AE and Premiere (link to webpage). How well does it work in Photo for you?

Follow-up question, do the other RedGiant plug-ins work as well for Affinity and/or Photoshop, like VFX Optical Glow? If so, I might actually buy that one at some point. ^^

I think all the Red Giant plugins are for video editing; Premier After Effects etc .... As far as I'm aware they have ceased developing plugins for Photoshop and I don't think you can even purchase Knoll Light Factory for Photoshop any more at least not as single product on its own (it may be bundled with the suite).

  11. I'm on Windows 10 and on the latest Beta of Affinity Photo I'm pleased to say these Photoshop Plugins that had issues, crashed Photo or just didn't work at all seem to be working now:

    Alien Skin Eye Candy 7
    Skylum Luminar 3
Knoll Light Factory 3.2 (albeit Red Giant stopped suporting/updating this plugin sometime ago, it's still the best lens flare plugin around to my knowledge)

Are we like to see the abiility in Affinity Photo to apply third party plugins non-destructively in the future?

Another cons, looks like they changed the software requirements for their final initial version, before Amadine was compiled the way to work on/with older OS X versions too, now it runs only on macOS Sierra or higher. - Other than that this software is generally more designed after Autodesk Graphic and the like.

The faster the better, since some competitors also have new software and features in their pipelines.

There's a window of opportunity here for Affinity .... Adobe customers are not happy .....

  13. The thing is the warp tools in Photoshop are frequently used and something that is required in both Photo and Designer - its quite common to want to use warp > arc in Photoshop on bitmaps, for example for adding labels to jars, bottles, cans and so on ... often used when creating promotional graphics.

I wonder if Affinity are spreading their resources a bit too thinly with the iPad versions, the new Publisher and the 'HOPEFULLY' seamless integration with Publisher, Designer & Photo when it arrives. Meaning some fundemntal features are too slow to arrive.

If you leave-out fundemental tools that people are using already on a regular basis, then you cannot expect people to make the switch to Affinity on mass even with the fantastic pricing....

We'd pay a lot more and buy several licenses for an integrated all-in-one Photo and Designer with all vector and bitmaps in one and the addition of just a few more frequently used tools.
