Official cover art I illustrated for The Changing Spaces' upcoming release, "Control".
Channeling all those techy cyberpunk vibes with this one!  👾
Mostly hand-drawn/painted in Affinity Photo using a drawing tablet, with a bit of Designer for the typography.

I though I'd share one more attempt, season 1 episode 3. Now I tried to limit the usage of brushes, and let them work as they are. No customization, only blending mode (average/lighten/darken sometimes) and size, used Oil: Chisel Shaped (trees, shadows, soil, water lines etc. ), Medium Fibers (small bushes, clouds), Large fibers (large bushes, water), Broken Bristles Glazing (snow) and Smear brush with Broken Bristles Flickering.
I think I'm getting better: getting to learn the brushes and learn to control them.

Ok, so I followed Bob in Shades of Grey (Season 2 Episode 4 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ousb8-SD0 )
For some parts it was really fun, for some parts it was not - probably because I'm quite a beginner. I'm not an artist at all. I used the following brushes in various sizes: large and mid bristles, broken bristles glazing and detailer, short daub 1 and 2, and the chisel stuff. This was plenty, I struggled quite a bit to keep consistency.
I have no idea if I managed to produce something that is at least a little bit good, but I enjoyed the process anyway, and that was Bob's goal I guess.
This is my 2nd digital painting in my life, the 1st in Affinity Photos. I chose a black-and-white picture, as I have color vision deficiency. This is the result:

I've lately been doing a study on drawing clouds in Affinity Photo. While I do enjoy the ease of using assets and merging other photos in to get clouds, I want a more Ghibli style look, and as far as I know that does require drawing. Having a tablet for this does help immensely. It does turn out clouds are pretty tough to draw. Each piece took me a few hours just on the sky. And I don't think I'll ever truly feel content with my work. I just want to keep making little tweaks and changes. But that is part of being an artists isn't it?
    Let me know your thoughts.

I went through the Krita Bob Ross tutorial (on Age of Asparagus channel) and I'm planning to try the same in Affinity Photo. I think the concepts would be the same, even though Krita brushes are way more featurepacked and for washing, blending, mixing colors Krita is closer. However I do think that having fun can be achieved in Affinity Photo, even if differently.

Temporary Delay in Serif Staff Responding on these Forums (and social media)
Thank you for using the Serif Affinity forums. If you post a question please be aware we are unfortunately running many days behind in replying to threads. You will probably get a reply from other forum members who may be able to answer your question to your satisfaction. However, please be assured that the Affinity Team who work these forums should reply to you if you still require it but it may not be very soon.
Explanation: The recent launch of the We want to help 90 day free trial offer,  combined with the current 50% off sale AND the suite wide launch of version 1.9 has meant that a tremendous number of Question threads (more than 2300 in 6 weeks) were made here. Consequently we are still working through this unusual level of demand, but so far many of those threads are still not replied to by anyone from the Affinity Team.
If you posted a few weeks ago and are now reading this, we have now released version 1.9.1 on all platforms containing many bug fixes It is possible your problem has already been fully addressed. If you are still experiencing your problem while using the 1.9.1 release build, then please repost again in your thread that your problem is unresolved and a member of our team will work to respond to your thread as soon as possible
As a side note I would like to pay tribute the the forum regulars here. If you get an answer from one of them chances are you may not need the Affinity team by the time we get round to your thread. These spring to mind.

briff reacted to MrMattSim in Updating SVG changes scaling
Today was my first time using Linked PNG images. Upon updating the linked PNGs (about 200 of them),  every single one has an incorrection insertion point (beyond the limits of the frame, no less; which requires additional steps of Layer navigating and panning away from the frame... every. single. time.).
For years, I have been very happy with Affinity products, but didn't have an opportunity to use external resources until now. I'm very disappointed. This feature should not have been released until it was rock-solid. It's the kind of bug that burns you only after you've already invested a huge amount of time on the assumption that it works.
I will be abandoning Publisher until this is resolved to my satisfaction, and recommending the same for all my clients. It appears to have been an issue in various forms for almost a year, now, which is unacceptable.

    +1
@Affinity crew: will this issue be addressed in an update in the near future. We're working on a book that contains hundreds of imported pdf's. There's a lot of updating going on in the process of this project. Moving files to another HD resulting in all sizing being messed up would be a nightmare.

This is the first 'big' project we're running in Affinity instead of Indesign. We really want to give this a chance, but issues like this make it a scary experience...

I'm seeing this, too, with PNG files. I recently moved to a new hard drive, so all my files had to be relinked. However, upon Updating them, they are all resizing to their original size, and not the transformed size, making my document effectively unusable.

    Hi Serif,
Affinity Publisher 1.9.0.932 1.9.1.979 on Windows 10 20H2, fully updated. Hardware Acceleration turned OFF.
Using Replace... buton on PDF linked resource in Afpub Resource Manager results into only last frame populated with the replaced resource, the replaced resource has distorted proportions (both replaced and original PDF have exactly the same dimensions), the rest of originally populated  frames are empty Selecting all frames populated with PDF linked resources, hitting Replace Image button in the Context Toolbar results in first image replaced correctly, but all the remaining frames populated with replaced PDF with distorted proportions.
