Was asked by some theatre kids at my college to make a poster for an upcoming show... Where else should I turn but to Affinity Designer!

After the recent popularity of my flat icon tutorial, I decided to start a tutorial series focusing on the principles of flat design. In this first tutorial, I focus on basic shapes and flat colors. As an example, I walk through how to make a flat iMac icon like I posted before.

For anyone wondering how to do this, I tried making a blog post explaining it the best I could. It is still relatively tedious compared to Illustrator or Inkscape, but it's really not that bad once you get the hang of it.

After seeing quite a bit of demand for long shadows in Affinity Designer, I took it upon myself to throw together a basic tutorial to get you guys started with flat icon design in Affinity. My example isn't perfect, but it should be enough to get you going. You can view the tutorial here. Let me know what you guys think!

Hey guys, so after seeing the infamous "flat mac" freebie mockup available online, I was inspired to attempt to recreate it using only Affinity Designer. Thoughts?
